Apple and windows don't really change the world a lot. They change the business man a lot.
@Nightfighter82

@@xiaoling7291 Both have changed the world. You just don't understand the impact of technology. Windows made the PC easy for the every day person to use and inevitably made it cheaper. Apple made the entire smart phone market. Smart phones have turned KZfaq into what it is today and have allowed people to have information at the tip of their fingers in ways they never had before. The smartphone has allowed people to be citizen journalists and tell the truth of what is happening when their government or the media wants to hide it. I could go on. Internet Explore led the ubiquity of the internet as well. Well IE and AOL, but IE bundled with Windows made it much easier for people to access the internet in a usable format.

@@Nightfighter82 We have different definition on change. If you look into deep, you would realized those technology only entertaining people, make their mundane life more easy. The technology serious scholar relying on is still very out of date and sometimes old fashioned. Developing Newton law doesn't require those fancy technology but the serious thoughts and pen and paper. But you are right, developing a machine learning algorithm requires a $1000 laptop.

IF I TOOK THESE IQ TESTS I WOULD PROBABLY SCORE AN 8. 10 OF THE SMARTEST LIVING PEOPLE. I WON'T ONLY DISAGREE WITH IT, BUT LAUGH MY HEAD OFF AT IT. IF YOU ONLY TRULY KNEW JUST HOW SHALLOW IN DEPTH THESE SO CALLED SMARTEST LIVING PEOPLE TRULY ARE. I WILL GIVE YOU A BRIEF HISTORY OF MY BACKGROUND WHICH IS A DIRTY LAYMAN PLUMBER HERE IN NEW YORK CITY AND HAVE DONE WORK ALL OVER MANHATTAN. AROUND 4 YEARS AGO I WAS DOING AND APARTMENT RENOVATION WITH A CONTRACTOR UP ON RIVERSIDE DRIVE IN UPPER MANHATTAN. IT WAS A COUPLE WHO OWNED THE APARTMENT AND AS ALWAYS, I MAKE FRIENDS WITH ALL THE PEOPLE I DO WORK FOR. ONE DAY I POSED THE QUESTION TO THIS FELLOW. IF HE WAS PLANNING ON HAVING ANY CHILDREN. HE RESPONDED BACK TO ME AND SAID NO, BECAUSE HE WAS NOT GOING TO LIVE TO LONG. I ASKED HIM WHY AND HE SAID THAT AND HE THEN SAID THAT HE HAD HIGH IRON LEVELS IN HIS BODY, AND THAT THE IRON WAS BUILDING UP IN HIS ORGANS WHICH WOULD EVENTUALLY KILL HIM. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS GENETIC AND THAT THERE WAS NO CURE FOR IT. ONCE I HEAR SOMEONE SAY IT'S GENETIC. IT SMOKED MY GOAT, BECAUSE THAT'S LIKE SPITTING IN GOD'S FACE THE ONE WHO CREATED US. I WAS AN ATHEIST YEARS BACK AND WHEN I WENT TO SECURE A RECORD CONTRACT. IT OPENED UP MY EYES THAT BOTH GOD AND THE DEVIL EXISTED. NOTHING THAT HARMS US IS GENETIC. GOD DIDN'T MAKE US IN HIS IMAGE AND THEN PUT GENES IN US TO HARM US, AND THEN GIVE US 10 COMMANDMENTS TO FOLLOW. IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. SO THAT NIGHT WHEN I WENT HOME I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH ON HIS CONDITION WHICH IS KNOWN AS IRON OVERLOAD, HEMOCHROMATOSIS. SO I'M WATCHING A PROFESSOR ON A VIDEO SAYING HEMOCHROMATOSIS IS GENETIC AND THAT THE IRISH WERE THE CARRIERS OF THIS GENE. AND WHEN THEY EMIGRATED INTO EUROPE IS WHEN THEY INTRODUCED THIS DEFECTIVE GENE INTO THE GENE POOL. GOD DON'T MIND MY FRENCH, BUT WHAT CROCK OF SHIT ARE THEY PEDDLING HERE. SO I STARTED LOOKING FOR THE CAUSE, WHICH DID NOT COME TILL LATER ON AND HOW STRANGELY I DISCOVERED IT. SINCE I'M A DIRTY PLUMBER AND WORK WITH WATER SYSTEMS. THE PUREST WATER ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH IS REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER. THEY SELL THESE FILTERING SYSTEMS IN HOME DEPOT AND LOWES. I REMEMBER YEARS BACK WHEN I INSTALLED A R.O WATER SYSTEM IN MY HOME AND DRANK IT EVERYDAY AND ALSO FILLED MY WATER BOTTLES UP WITH THIS WATER THAT I TOOK WITH ME TO WORK. AFTER DRINKING IT FOR 1 YEAR. I NOTICED MY MUSCLES STARTED TO HURT AND MY JOINTS WERE CRACKING AND HURTING. I KNEW RIGHT AWAY THAT THE PURIFIED R.O WATER WAS ABSORBING THE MINERALS FROM MY BODY AND REMOVING THESE MINERAL THROUGH URINATION AND PERSPIRATION BECAUSE WATER LIKES TO ATTRACT. SO I STOPPED DRINKING IT AND INSTALLED JUST A CARBON FILTER AND THE PAIN WENT AWAY. I ALSO KNEW THAT IF YOU PUT A GOLD FISH INTO REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER THAT IT LOSES IT PIGMENT BECAUSE A GOLD FISHES GOLD PIGMENT COMES FROM IRON. KNOWING THIS I KNEW I COULD NOT ONLY CURE THIS FELLOW OF THIS CONDITION. BUT ALSO CURE COUNTLESS MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WHO SUFFER FROM THIS CONDITION, AND THAT I CAN DO IT VERY CHEAPLY LITERALLY FOR PENNIES. SO I OFFERED TO PUT A REVERSE OSMOSIS FILTERING SYSTEM INTO HIS APARTMENT WHEN IT WAS FINISHED. SINCE THE KITCHEN WAS STILL UNDER RENOVATION AND WOULDN'T BE READY FOR A FEW MONTHS. I RECOMMENDED THAT HE DRINK DASANI WATER WHICH IS REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER AND TO BY A CASE OF IT. THAT NIGHT I E-MAIL HIM MY DIAGNOSES AND PROTOCOL FOR CURING HIS CONDITION. THE NEXT DAY WHEN I SAW HIM HE WAS DRINKING NESTLE WATER WHICH HE SAID WAS ALSO REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER. AS THE WEEKS WENT ON. HIS IRON LEVELS WERE DROPPING LIKE CRAZY. THEY WERE SCHEDULING HIS PHLEBOTOMY FROM EVERY 2 WEEKS TO 2 MONTHS. WHICH IS THE WAY THEY REDUCED THE IRON LEVELS IN THE BODY. I HAD A TALK WITH HIS WIFE AND I TOLD HER YOU KNOW YOUR HUSBAND WITH EVENTUALLY BE CURED. SHE SAID BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I KNOW THAT. AS FOR THE CAUSE OF HIS HEMOCHROMATOSIS CAME VERY STRANGELY. DURING THE TIME I WAS WORKING IN HIS APARTMENT. WHEN I WAS BUYING PLUMBING MATERIALS FROM THE SUPPLY HOUSE. THE SUPPLY HOUSE WAS GETTING RID OF BOXES OF IRON CHISELS AND THE MANAGER TOLD ME TO TAKE AS MANY AS I WANTED. SO I FILLED UP A BAG, AND WHEN I WENT TO THAT JOB. I BROUGHT THE BAG UP AND TOLD THE CONTRACTOR TO TAKE SOME OF THE CHISELS. THE OWNER OF THE APARTMENT WHO HAD THE HEMOCHROMATOSIS. ASK ME IF HE CAN HAVE A COUPLE OF CHISELS TO. I SAID CERTAINLY TAKE WHAT YOU WANT. I THEN ASKED HIM WHY HE WANTED THEM FOR, AND HE SAID HE MADE SCULPTURES BY HAND FROM MARBLE. HE WAS A FRENCHMAN WITH A HEAVY ACCENT AND WAS CHISELING MARBLE FOR YEARS WHICH HE LEARNED IN FRANCE. I THEN TOLD HIM DO YOU REALIZE WHERE YOUR IRON OVERLOAD CAME FROM. FOR YEARS YOU WERE ABSORBING IRON FROM THE CHISELS INTO YOUR BLOOD. IT SHOCKED HIM AND HE REALIZED FROM NOW ON HE HAD TO WEAR GLOVES WHEN HOLDING THESE IRON CHISELS. THE LORD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS. I WENT ALL OVER THE INTERNET POSTING THIS CURE I DISCOVERED FOR HEMOCHROMATOSIS AND MOST LIKELY HELPED COUNTLESS PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD. WHAT I HAVE DONE HERE THESE 10 PEOPLE YOU CLAIM TO BE THE SMARTEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD CAN ONLY DREAM OF DOING. ALSO AS A DIRTY SHITTY PLUMBER BACK IN 2009. I PUBLISHED A MEDICAL THEORY ON HAIR LOSS AND ITS CAUSE AND THIS DIRTY SHITTY PLUMBER OWNS THE DISCOVERY AND PUBLISHED RIGHTS TO IT'S DISCOVERY OF WHAT CAUSES HAIR LOSS OVER THE ENTIRE WORLD MEDICAL COMMUNITY OF DOCTORS AND SCIENTISTS WORLDWIDE. THE CAUSE OF HAIR LOSS COMES FROM WHITE PROCESSED FLOUR. IT BLOCKS OF THE CAPILLARY WALLS IN THE SCALP WHERE NUTRIENT PERMEATE THROUGH CAUSING THE HAIR TO FALL OUT. IMAGINE ALL THESE SCIENTISTS AND DOCTORS THAT HAVE ALL GONE, AND TO THE PRESENT ONES STILL LIVING. COULD NOT FIGURE WHAT CAUSED HAIR LOSS, BUT THIS DIRTY SHITTY PLUMBER WAS ABLE TO. I THINK YOU BETTER TAKE THIS LIST AND THROW IT RIGHT IN THE GARBAGE. THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER AVERAGE LAYMEN PEOPLE LIKE ME OUT THERE LIKE MYSELF. THAT CAN WIPED THE STREETS IN INTELLECT WITH ALL 10 OF THESE PEOPLE YOU PROFILED HERE. NOW I REALIZE WHY ALBERT EINSTEIN SAID: "IF I WAS TO DO MY LIFE ALL OVER AGAIN, I WOULD HAVE BECOME A PLUMBER".

@@yoseyoda I'M AN AVERAGE LAYMEN AND LAST YEAR I WAS SNAKING A SEWER DRAIN IN A COSTUMERS GARAGE AND AS USUAL I HAVE A HABIT OF TALKING. THIS FELLOW WAS VERY INTELLIGENT AND THE STRANGE THING WAS. HE ASKED ME IF I WAS A GENIUS. I LAUGHED BUT IT'S ONE OF MANY COMPLIMENTS I HAVE RECEIVED OVER MANY YEARS. WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS 4 YEARS OLD SHE TURNED AROUND TO MY WIFE AND SAID "MOMMY IS DADDY A GENIUS". I'M STILL LAUGHING AT THAT ONE. MY WITS COME FROM THE WISDOM OF KNOWING GOD AND THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.

Nah, maths does not always translate to skill in language, especially irregular ones. Being good at maths DO help a lot with physics, music, programming and places with intricate patterns. The intelligence they mention here is really the intelligence of analyzing patterns, be it chess patterns, patterns in mathematics or physics, but it doesn't make you super-human. Note, all these people practice, a LOT. One does not become a math genius by just luck - there is a lot of factors - training and motivation being two strong ones. It is true that many mathematicians are good at languages (I work professionally as a mathematician), and sometimes one needs to read German or French to get to the original work. One particular coworker I knew did speak over 10 languages, but being Scandinavian of course helps...

What about other areas not pertaining to science? Wouldn't Stephen King be considered a literary genius in the same regard that Stephen Hawking be considered a physics genius? Wouldn't Gordon Ramsay be considered a culinary genius, or Mozart a musical genius, or even George Carlin a comedic genius? A genius is often defined as someone with exceptional intelligence and creativity in their area of expertise, not solely science.

You’re comparing theoretical physicists to chess players 😂
@benb4728
@benb4728 5 жыл бұрын
What is your point? Just because theoretical physics is more applicable to industry and life, it doesn't mean it's harder to understand. To beat a world champion as dominant as Kasparov, you need to be able to calculate the best move on both sides, at least 10 moves ahead (once you get into the middlegame). You need to have tens of thousands of positions and responses imprinted in your memory, you need to be one hundred percent accurate in the endgame, and knowledge of thousands of opening variations. Theoretical physicists' brains don't have to work nearly as hard as some of these great chess players.
@Iisa-
@Iisa- 5 жыл бұрын
What about top performers in the arts or perhaps even gaming? Is this study quantified by who has the most information crammed in their brain or who ever is able to think or move faster than others?
@benb4728
@benb4728 5 жыл бұрын
@Lox TYRRELL [11S1] When I say "think 10 moves ahead", I mean to see the best move or couple of moves of each step along the way. The way you decide the best move is by using tactics or improving your position. In many cases, chess is actually about looking ahead of your opponent. Some forced exchanges can go on for half a dozen moves and then you need to have a view of that resulting position.

Marco Marzo Ok, it's morning. Well, of course you have to be smart, but it's also a gift. All thes epeople are not just good at these subjects, they're prodigies. Scientists already found out that beeing good or bad at math is something that is determined when you develop. Some people are determined to excel at math, others are born to fail at it. So yes, they are very smart, but it could also be limited to this very topic. You could also say that someone who is a great strategist or who can easily understand economy, politics etc. cause he/she can easily analyze complex connections is very smart, however, this person could be a total looser at math, physics etc. Or art. Some people can draw pictures with a penicl that look like photos. This could also be seen as evidence for extreme intelligence. Intelligence is nothing that can be defined as X. It varies and has different forms. Some people have a mathematical intelligence, others a lyrical, an analytical intelligence or an intelligence for art.

Obviously, sadly we live in a very unfair world, some people are just more gifted than others. But maths and physics is, to a huge extend, everything we do, we are and what we own. I can just show respect to these amazing people. Obviously, being smart is not only maths, being a good speaker is huge. Most of this very smart people are not (there is a correlation between social anxiety and a high IQ). But still, thanks to people like this we live in a better world

The March 2010 FIDE rating list showed Carlsen with a rating of 2813, a figure that only Kasparov had bettered at that time. On the January 2013 FIDE rating list, Carlsen reached 2861, thus surpassing Garry Kasparov's 2851 record from July 1999. On list from May 2014, Carlsen achieved an all-time high record of 2882 ELO.

This list is just random smart people. There are several people who objectively have no business being here if it is a top 10. Also, Kasporov lost against Deep Blue a year later after they fixed a flaw in it's algorithm. The first woman on there is not the youngest grandmaster ever, nor has she ever been a world champion. Defeating a world champion is something most grandmasters can do FOR 1 GAME. Taking the match and becoming world champion is a different story. So why is she on this list? Same things can be said about others. Your list is lazy and asinine.

It is based on their IQ. Christopher Langan is a charlatan he doesn't know anything about science or math he just babbles about the same shit over and aver again. In his "Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe" (CTMU) he uses simplistic references to computer science and quantum mechanics to make him sound smart .I glanced through the entire manuscript and couldn't find any math. Christopher has high congnitive ability but no actual knowledge on any subject.

The others are all people that are very good at either marketing their intelligence or have made the news for it some way or another. There are many people in a world of more than 7 billion people that are on their level of intelligence. Not to mention that this list seems to imply that only chess, math, and physics mastery makes you a genius and among the smartest people in the world. Shakespeare would never have made this list.

Yeah, I have doubts of if intelligence can be quantified enough to make a top 10 list, but Christopher Langan (#2) has no business anywhere near the top. The first woman also probably isn't a top ten, but at least she (as well as the other eight) are verifiable geniuses, while Langan's accomplishment is a new age religious nut theory. I know all youtube top ten lists are "lazy and asinine" but I just want to vent my annoyance about Langan being put next to someone like Terence Tao.

Honestly does it matter if this people are that intelligent, i mean intelligence does not make a person and besides if we measure a person intelligence base on how they do in math, physics or chess the what about those whose considered to be the greatest chief or other thing that makes things interesting to other people. A part from that what have they proven so far

Success in chess relies solely on the brain's computing power. That's why today's supercomputers can beat every living player - they calculate every possibility and every all the numerous ways the game can develop, for many turns ahead. That's why chess prodigies are universally mathematical geniuses.

The problem is that you can't measure intelligence. For example, how is "being good at chess" a sign of extreme intelligence?! Being very good at a game means you're smarter than a lot of people who discover stuff? In the end there is no real definition and no way to measure it.

Rom ano Chess is a strategic game that uses lots of different moves and if you can be in the top .1% in the world in chess I guarantee you're a genius..

Shane Battier No, you just learned something. Chess can be learned. You can learn strategy. Is learning = intelligence? Not really. You can be brillant when playing chess but still lack a lot of other things that are considered as "making you intelligent"

Rom ano Being ranked in the whole world for something strategic like chess pretty much guarantees you're a genius.. It's obvious you aren't a genius since you can't understand this.. You learn math but that doesn't make you a top mathematician..
@triedbuttdied

well what people use their intelligence for is based on what they like doing. if kasparov had an interest in making discoveries in a area of science, he might have made many great discoveries who knows, he have the mental capability for that atleast but he doesnt have the interest. so he wouldnt have been any more or less smarter if he used his intelligence or "iq" for something else than chess. but the main thing they've based their "top 10 smartest living people on earth" from what ive understood, is mainly their estimated iq based on wikipedia page about them, and based on their achivements.
@triedbuttdied
@triedbuttdied 7 жыл бұрын
and obviously everyone knows that top 10s like this are never really accurate, so why people would ever start an arguement like this i dont understand. and the word "smart" or "smartest" is such a vague word, that every video with something like that as a subject almost always ends up with a comment section being only about people arguing about what they consider what intelligence is or whos the smartest and such.

Never played chess at Masters level? 40ish years ago, I played against someone that was rank 30 something. I was thinking 5 to 8 moves ahead in a couple of games in my head after each move. He, on the other hand, had thought through over 60 complete games - each move - in which I might have won 3 of them, had I played differently. Our game lasted 10 minutes and 18 moves. I lost well. I.Q. has nothing to do with degrees or education, but rather, the ability to think and solve problems. As a side note: I really don't think the list is in order either, regardless of the intent.
