10 Solid Footballers Who Are Without A Club Right Now
In a world where goalkeepers are diving for pennies and strikers are chasing dreams instead of contracts, the realm of football finds itself in a peculiar state. Once great players, now stand jobless on the sidelines waiting to be seen.

I think David De Gea will either return to Spain and play for a club in La Liga or maybe join the Saudi Pro League. His Manchester United departure was surprising to say the least but given his wages and the money he was on, he felt like a pay-cut in the contract renewal that he was offered wasn't justified for him hence why they were happy to let him go. I think he'll find a new club sooner or later.

I feel so afraid for de gea, now that he is without a job how is he going to put food on the table for himself ??? Poor guy, we have to donate some money to him or he would have to beg on the street. 😢

P.S. Honourable mentions: Lucas Moura. Once regarded as one of the brightest prospect of Brazilian football is now a free agent. His career can be summed up. Good abilities but lack the consistency to get to the top. He had some good moments like helping Spurs reach the Champions League final by scoring a hat trick but mostly poor at Spurs. Let's not forget it took him 18 months to score another goal. He'll likely return to his homeland to see out his career. Alexis Sanchez. Was one of the best players in the Premier League at Arsenal but his stock took a hit and his decline was brutal at Manchester United. Left for Inter Milan but he was never the same player again. Had a brief renascence at Marseille but now he's a free agent once.

James Rodriguez 9 years ago was seriously the top scorer at a World Cup, and that secured him a big transfer to Real Madrid where there had a brilliant first season, but Zinedine Zidane after that was unable to find a spot for him in the team as he spent more time on the sidelines than on the pitch, and it caused him to be loaned out to Bayern Munich for 2 seasons where he started off well in his first season, but then the next season was complicated and he was back at Real Madrid in 2020 where Zidane returned once again didn't play him. The journey of James Rodriguez since leaving Real Madrid has been very strange, because he spent a season at Everton reunited with Carlo Ancelotti and after that has seen 2 different contracts terminated in less than 12 months and since April he's been without a club. So what led to this? A combination of injuries, attitude and modern day football moving on from him has led to him being in this situation. On most of the teams he's played for he has struggled to consistently stay fit, he's always injured happened a lot at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, even at Everton he was always injured and it makes it difficult for managers to trust a player who's too fragile. His former teammate Isco has been without a club for months as well, and James Rodriguez is best position on the pitch is an attacking midfielder but nowadays when you look at some of the best teams in Europe, teams in general as well, they don't play with a number 10 anymore as being an elite level playmaker alone isn't enough to cut it in today's era and he's a victim of that because he never wanted to track back, he wanted a free role and was only an elite creator and this has caused him to struggle for proper minutes at Real Madrid, have decent spells at Bayern Munich and Everton and another reason with why in a span of 7 months, 2 contracts terminated and as we speak he's still a free agent and given how he's a player who managers don't seem to fancy his style of play, good luck in finding a new club because I don't see a team in the top 5 leagues in Europe signing him, he'll either go to MLS, Saudi or just retire from football altogether and he's what 31, 32 years old.

Isco at one point was one of the best players in world football as he was a dazzling player with lots of skill and magic on the ball, and during his time at Real Madrid especially the end of his career there, he didn't play much as he struggled for fitness had some inconsistency and found it hard to replicate his form and despite winning 5 champions league titles, there's always a feeling that his potential was unfulfilled and it's crazy to say that about a player who won 5 champions leagues and was part of a team that won a 3peat and he was critical to their European success. The move to Sevilla looked like a great move for him as he was reunited with his former manager and for Isco it was a move that was gonna help him regain top form, but even there he failed to make an impact, Lopetigui was sacked and Sevilla as a whole terminated his contract and he's been without a club since the World Cup. What a sad fall from grace and unfortunately for Isco, his best position is the number 10 role, and like I've said many times in modern day football, teams don't play with natural playmakers anymore, that position doesn't exist and managers are looking for box-to-box midfielders that are willing to cover ground and have discipline to provide work off the ball and once Real Madrid decided to go from 4-3-1-2 to 4-3-3 after Cristiano Ronaldo left and then brought in the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo in the attack they still had that midfield core of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro, the rise of Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde, getting minutes was heavily difficult for him because teams don't play with a number 10 anymore and this has also resulted in him being without a club for 7 months and he's better off going to MLS, because I don't see any team in Europe giving him another big contract.

He may be a free agent now, but 3-4 years ago Wilfried Zaha should've permanently left Crystal Palace because at the time, many clubs that offered European football wanted to sign him, now he ran down his contract and is a free agent. At 30, he should still be in the prime of his career and Lazio right now are playing champions league football and they can offer that to him, he shouldn't go to a league outside of Europe's big leagues or join a team in Saudi Arabia when he still has a lot of good years left in him at the top level and he can finally play in the champions league.

There's a lot of free agents. Zaha is Premier League quality and shown for years during his 2 stints at Palace is why many top club including Dortmund wanted him but due to Palace demanding a huge fee, they allowed their star man to run down his contract. At age 30, Zaha won't be short of suitors but not many big clubs wants him. Isco and James. Two fantastic players and multiple times winners of the Champions League and La Liga. Unfortunately due to the changing climate of football, poor attitude and injuries. Neither of them reached their true potential and now they have to play at some mid level club to revive their careers. David De Gea. Not so long ago he was the best keeper in the world. However post Russia, he's more error prone and failed to adapt his game when keepers like Ederson, Allison and Neuer are the standard of how keepers are at elite football. Because of this, De Gea isn't the keeper that can compete with the elites but he'll be good enough to keep a club from heading to mediocrity and secure European football.
