With temperatures dropping well below 0°C bubbles freeze in mere seconds - and as they freeze, spectacular striations of swirling ice crystals create literal works of art. Learn more at: neilfisher.com/blog/how-to-fr...

@Christine Turner, as a Vancouver resident myself I've found winter temperatures in the Lower Mainland aren't quite cold enough. I've tried to freeze bumble on numerous occasions near -5°C, without any success. I've also found that the relative humidity can impact how successful freezing bubbles are: with less humidity being more desirable 👍👍👍

Try cross polarization. I have a linear (or circular) polarizer on my lens and a linear polarizer beyond my subject. Polarize the light illuminating the bubbles. I purchased a whole 50" by 19" (127×48 cm) sheet of polarizing film decades ago that I use pieces of for my ice crystal photography.

Thank you so much for this awesome video. You are ridiculously likeable and easy to watch. Your bubbles are gorgeous (and I didn't even mind the background music - which is unusual for me). Your explanations were very, very good! Super video! I have one question: if you literally BLOW the bubble, doesn't the warm breath heat it up too much? In the video, it so often looks as if you're merely touching the end of the straw to/near the surface, then pulling away (but I can't imagine how that works, either). I never seem to get weather cold enough to try the bubble blowing, but I'm still hopeful 🙂 Thanks again!
@neilfisher
@neilfisher 2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks @Shutterbeetle 👍 Appreciate the feedback😃😃😃 Yes, I regret not including more in depth detail in to how the bubbles are actually created. You're correct in that the end of the straw doesn't need to make contact with the intended surface - you can even have a bubble freeze on the end of a straw... provided there's zero wind and you have a steady hand.

@neilfisher

@sushil shinde I suppose it's possible to reproduce the necessary environment in a controlled setting, but it would require some rather extensive resources. The air temperature is the most important aspect of bubbles freezing - and the colder the better. Good luck. 👍
