Everything said in the video is very true. My opinion on this particular quad being that I’ve had a 17 highlifter 850 since it came out. Bike requires meticulous maintenance every ride in order to increase longevity of bushings, joints, and bearings. Although there are a lot of pros mentioned, in which I agree in this video and previous videos. In my experience the cons were the rear differential, front differential , belt box location, and transmission housing seals. This can get pretty costly quickly. I just did not have good luck on keeping water and mud out of all the cons mentioned. I would rebuild with Polaris seals, and the very next ride still gets mud and water inside. Ultimately causing failure. Pretty disappointed in fact when came to maintaining only to have to rip everything off to clean out muddy water. It’s a mud bike and it just didn’t do what either my can-am or Honda has done for maintenance when it’s comes to just dropping oil. I’m done ranting but it’s just my take on personal experience. Take what you want from it!

So glad your channel exists. Been watching you since the renagade Honda and I have learned a lot about ATVs and what to look for. Grew up riding but still lack useful information 😂

Ya i have a 23. I can see some of these being an issue. I am new to this kinda thing. The 850 was last years model and i basically stole it. I do enjoy it alot. Super fun. Im building a back window anti smasher for that bumper as we speak lol

I think that 4 years ago it was a great bike but now i think Polaris needs to update the highlifter and iv had the sportsmans 1000 and 850 and i agree that belly pan gets hung up i would sacrifice an inch taller seat hieght for a higher belly pan

My buddy has an identical machine. With the headlights he was tearing the bulbs out on a brand new stock machine. Definitely do LEDs on it as soon as possible.

Keep an eye on the control arm bolts the shoulder doesn’t go all the way to the mount so the threads wear out the hole.

One more thing that I can think of is the single use engine lmao that thing can’t even take a drop of water before you have to completely replace it😂

Forgot about no dielectric grease from factory. Having to do it urself because it shut off in the water is pain in the ass considering just spending 10k+ on the bike

Have a 17 850 since 2020..my biggest complaint is the lack of airflow to the radiator and the actual thickness of the radiator to help cool better.. rad fans come on and off very frequently but has never overheater and went into limp mode....battery needs to be under the seat plain n simple...like to see a sport mode like can ams do for more power.. i feel the hp and tq are even to prevent breaking everything..front diff pinion flex is a issue for sure..would i buy one again idk..

If you ride 50 plus road/ trail the will go into limp mode. They definitely need a new radiator design

Im fne with the roasting.it is what it is. I knew what i was getting into. Im just a stickler for maintenance and i dont mind going slow being old as i am. As for the splines i saw that and sorayed em after i cleaned it. Itll be fine once we do all the other mods and put a 30wet kit on it. Lmao. Nitrous on everything

It's funny how polaris has literally had some of the same few problems since the sportsman lineup came out. I can literally point out the same problems on my sp500. The frame drop in the center has always been an weird design. My 700 had it my dad's 550 had it now he has a 850hl and it's the same thing. The only thing Polaris has changed is the plastics and rear diff angles. Kawi did the same thing with the brute. Always updated the machine in ways that no one asked for. But never updated what the consumer asked for.
