One really important tip I would mention is that rewind has NO range limit, and can affect literally anything you can see. So many times of accidentally dropping a contraption off of an island has been saved for me by using it. It can also be used to find where drops rolled off to by making the trails visible.

I fully agree with that last tip. There's hundreds of videos showing 'Best Gear!', 'Early Rupee Farming!', '100 of the Best Weapons!', 'Here's Every Cave YOU Should Visit NOW!'...and it might feel like you're 'behind' or 'not playing the game efficiently enough'...but this game is new to all of us and we should take our time to fully enjoy the adventure. We didn't have full internet archives back in the SNES / N64 days telling us of every single secret within hours of a game's release, and some of the most exhilarating moments where those where we organically discovered the game's secrets on our own. This game will be relevant for years. Enjoy the ride!

For me I only look at that kind of stuff (minus the caves one) so I can not be as frustrated while exploring the game lol. Nothing is more annoying than early game exploration, running into strong enemies, and only having one tiny stick and no bow. I literally robbed 3 bokoblin camps and didn't acquire a single bow (I had run out because of their poo durability, I use bows a LOT). Plus I like to buy the outfits as early as I can, just for looks. The game is still really fun and all, but man I'm sick of running out of my good gear any time I want to run around and climb every cliff in sight lol.

Another one: Rock Octorocks (the ones on the goron mountain) can each repair one piece of equipment. Go up to one, drop the item, back away so they come back up and suck in your weapon. Which they will then spit at you instead of the exploding rock they normally shoot. This works once per Octorock, once per blood moon. So if you have a particularly precious weapon you want to keep, you can repair it. This could be, say, that OP sapphire staff you made, since you might not want to have to mine or buy sapphires to make new ones.

In fairness to brightbloom arrows, they have a much farther reach than throwing. And in particular when using the giant seeds that have a massive glow radius and aren't nearly as common as the smaller ones, you'd have to already be in pitch black territory to get full use out of throwing them. I have 200 arrows and 30 giant brightblooms, so I absolutely will be using arrows to use them more effectively.

I always used brightbloom arrows, and I'm surprised people keep running out of arrows. Crates and other breakable containers tend to give you 10 arrows each, and they're everywhere just waiting for a simple axe swing. Brightbloom arrows have significantly longer range, which is very helpful exploring the underground safely

I think the problem is arrows are used a lot more in this game compared to BOTW. In BOTW I never ran out of arrows. Starting this game I left the tutorial island with ~200 arrows but after a few hours of exploring the ground ran out. Its a lot more important in this game vs BOTW to actively buy and collect arrows every chance you get, and since that first time running out and being more active I havent ran out again.

Even in BotW I struggled with some of the Divine Beast bosses because there are NO leading instructions whatsoever. They just tell you "yeah turn on all the terminals and defeat the boss!" but how in the fuck am I supposed to turn on all the terminals first if I have no clue where the final one is? How am I supposed to defeat the boss when they have an impenetrable shield? That's why some of us use guides for CERTAIN parts of the game. Nobody is saying "gee whiz this shrine sucks ass, I'm gonna look up a guide on how to do the final main quest!", we're just stuck in some areas or we need a little help so we look up a guide for those specific things. Two fans and a control stick can be used to make a highly efficient vehicle in the form of either the hover bike (fans attached to controls in line), or the "goblin glider" (fans attached to the controls on the sides). It costs 9 ore and goes far further than the rocket-on-a-plank (you can also just keep re-using it once your battery recharges). It is well suited to exploring the ground and underground areas. The fans should be at an angle so that they push down and back. You may wish to build the initial vehicle in a flat area near wooden materials so that you can make use of them to be able to hold the build in air to make it easier to get the fans lined up. Then save it to your autobuild and you have a high speed vehicle that can both ascend and descend, and is very efficient battery-wise for a flying vehicle.

I use arrows for brightbloom seeds sometimes, but I've found that the best use case for it is if you're in a wide open underground area. If you're not sure how far away something is and you want to land the seed high up on a wall, then fusing it to an arrow is really useful. But probably the best way that I've seen to use brightbloom seeds is as headlights. The Zonai ones only have one beam and don't show much, but if you have a big brightbloom seed, you can just throw it at your vehicle and it gives bright light in every direction, while not using any of your battery. I love using it for my hoverboard segway, because when you're high up in the air you can't easily see the terrain with just one beam of light

I liked arrow brightblooms for the initial exploration of the deep. Sometimes you wouldn't know if a cliff was just really tall or an impassable wall. Getting a bright bloom high up would tell you more about the cliff and show you how to climb it as well.

You can also create your own dynamic elevator using recall, ultrahand and ascend, when you lift something with ultrahand and lift it in the air, push it forward, whatever direction, when you put it back in front of you and use recall, it follows that trajectory, so if you ascend through it you can basically take yourself almost anywhere in a shrine without any other things in the shrine. Sounds more simple and “duh” when I write it, but the uses are very dynamic and speedrunning sensitive

I’ve definitely been abusing recall to the best of my ability, like putting a plant of wool on a long stick, holding it up high, bringing it back to me, recall it, grab on, FLY UP IN THE SKY. And I have cheesed a few shrines with Recall already. It’s such a powerful rune

You don't really need to use Ascend to do this since you can basically just trace a path (in reverse) with Ultrahand, climb on top of it normally and then recall. It's not restricted to elevators either, since you can trace a horizontal path in order to cross gaps too. Recall is just overpowered as fuck.

My personal recommendation, especially if you still have a lot left to find, you can ride around on the dragons. You can pick up some extra useful materials while on their backs, and the horn you can get (and pick up instantly right off of them if you're standing on their head) resets every 10 ingame hours. I had an absolute blast riding Farosh and Naydra around, even through underground sections as they will go through chasms on their paths. Keep an eye out for any shrines or certain noteworthy underground landmarks, mark them through the scope, and get some really powerful weapon fuses at the same time. Going up a chasm also feels kind of satisfying. They are quite slow tough, so you have plenty of time to admire the world around you. Less so if it's all pitch black underground, but eh.

About ascend in caves: One thing I noticed, but haven't exaustely confirmed; is that if you are in a cave and there is a tree root on the wall, go near it and you are guaranteed to have an "ascendable" spot. Be it to the cave's next floor, or just outside the mountain. It's pretty usefull if you just can't find that spot to ascend to in caves with uneven ceiling.

That last tip was such an eye opener. When I first played BOTW, I read and watched some tutorials on the harder parts, but thinking about it now, the most memorable times I had with BOTW was the things I discovered myself. I promised myself I would not touch a single guide until I at least finished the main story, or feel satisfied to the point I can casually use it without getting spoiled either through story, lore or experience. Best thing I have ever done as discovering new things through exploring, experimentation and trial and error made the game feel more alive and satisfying to do than the reward for doing it through a guide.

That's great and all, but there's nothing wrong with getting help. Personally, I don't enjoy struggling with quests that don't point me in a specific direction. I like to explore, yeah, but only when I choose to do so. If I'm looking for something and simply CANNOT find it, I search it up. And that's totally fine! I also really enjoy the things I discover by myself, but like... I enjoy finding things that I wasn't looking for, if that makes sense. I like finding caves or cool areas on my own, I like to discover strong weapons on my own, but it is so goddamn annoying to be stuck in an area for a quest, only to have no clue what the fuck I'm doing. If that's something you enjoy, then that is awesome and I hope you have a blast playing this game! There is so much to explore and figure out, it really is fun.

I think puffshrooms are equally powerful as the ice scepter. You can throw them into an active horde of enemies and they all lose track of you, then you can just walk up behind them to sneak strike over and over until the smoke disappears. It can save you a lot of durability on your weapons

A neat Paraglider trick i found with Tulin's wind gust ability: When activating Tulin, a second after you activate it, keep pressing B and X (dismiss button and jump/paraglider button) with a bit of leeway in between each button press. You'll keep the momentum from Tulin's ability until it recharges and you can do it again. I found this out myself and it's proven super useful to me.

@@ninjason57 Definitely. But the design of the game seemed to hold up pretty well to this until I realized certain areas actually needed story progression. I've found myself thinking a lot about where this was actually necessary. So far, a few obvious locations come to mind right. But the really important ones seem very few in number. I think a much better solution would have been some "no-fly" zones, where this effect is triggered to protect those elements of the game where they wanted to tell their story and get you to those locations in a more premeditated fashion. I can't help but compare it to BotW. They said here's the castle, do what you want. And I really appreciated that. But. Games still awesome so.

For those going into the depths using the brightbloom seeds with an arrow can be advantageous at times. Some enemies(boss) will be attracted to the light making the short distance throws allow to automatically notify them of your position. But using bows you can send them on a wild goose chase making getting a sneak attack or easy combo start much much easier

For arrows in the underground... They are useful when falling in blind, you don't want a forced gloom landing in a chasm that has no light roots visible, and pressing R to throw while landing is suicidal, also good for tagging tall skinny structures.

The arrows with Bright seeds is much more effective. You can shoot much further and see much more ahead of you. You can also reach ceilings you can’t by throwing them. Arrows are also and much more abundance in this game so you’ll have a lot of errors as long as you destroy boxes barrels and pick up the ones that you are already shot.

I was using arrows to toss seeds downstairs and realized I had blown through like 50-60 arrows. For some reason my brain decided I couldn't throw while on my skeleton horse. Anyway, I fixed that mistake. Seeds are for more abundant than arrows, and like you said, absolutely no reason to fire arrows. Personally, once I started treating chasms like the overworld, it became a lot simpler to travel. Because, you know, it basically is just the overworld. It's only scary because it's dark and glowing red.

One tip you skipped is: don't forget you have your various skills. I wasted like 30 minutes in an area trying to figure out how to get a door to open. Then I remembered I had ultrahand and just...opened it. Like a normal door. Nearly had an out of body experience. There's supposed to be a series of switches and spatial puzzles to get doors open, isn't there? But no. Link has a hand now, and he can sometimes use it.

Me at the outer castle gate during the first little bit that the story quests tell you to do on the surface. Saw no way to open it and considered it effectively just scenery. Effectively just a wall. Went over it with some climbing / ascending and carefully choosing how to get back down on the other side... And then realized at some point after I reached the other side of it (I forget if this was right away or when returning after speaking to Hoz) that I just could've opened it with ultrahand.

better than autobuild rocket, take 6 springs, put them on top of each other into a tower, climb up and activate. you get some pretty great height. if you want to go far instead, build a ramp, attach the spring tower to it, put a plank at the end to stand on, activate the springs. it IS more expensive though (if you don't have the springs in your inventory)

I really felt that tip about brightbloom seeds. Didn't start throwing them until I was desperate and out of arrows, then it was just like... nearly the exact same result as if I'd shot one attached to an arrow. Had a real moment there. Anyway, I do think there's potentially one use for shooting them anyway: you get bullet-time when using a bow, allowing you to (wastefully) light a wide area by shooting in multiple directions during your descent to figure out what's around you.
