To add to #6: I have found that it's much easier to see what you're doing to print the lineart reference in a lighter/brighter shade than the lineart itself. I like to print mine in a light blue so I can see the black outlines better. I tried it with black lineart for a reference and I eventually got visually confused of which lines I had already done and where to aim my brush, so I had to switch to something to tell them apart. Maybe I'm the only one who has ever had such a problem, but I figured I'd suggest this just in case it helps orhers.

The first time I did glass painting I drew the outline on the front instead of the back ! It's cool because it didn't mix with the paint, but because it's a few milimeters in front of the paint, depending on the point of view, you can see the paint of the other side of the line... So next time I'm gonna do the outline on the back, with the paint, hoping that they won't mix together.

Tip if you are using a paint palette similar to the white one she showed. Cover it tightly with foil or saran wrap and make sure it's flattened over the top of the pallet to cover the wells. This will keep the pain usable for another few hours minimum. I've saved paint til the next day using this method. Store in a cool place.
@jezreelbullock6280
@jezreelbullock6280 3 жыл бұрын
But to be clear, paint puts are better for storing larger amounts of paint for longer. This to is just in case you had already started with a palette out couldn't find the pots

I should’ve done some deeper research before starting mine... I just finished it, and even though I did the reverse painting and color matching fairly well, I did NOT double coat my oil-based paint pen trace at the start. I figured one was enough and I was wrong! Then with more and more paint being piled onto those outlines, they started getting eaten away basically. It’s not so sharp anymore and it makes me upset because it’s a gift for my boyfriend, but it’s still a pretty good image for a first attempt! I’ll have to try again in the future-thank you for these helpful tips!

For the first tip I think its both quality and quantity because I used a dollar store paint that she showed in the video and all of the paint cracked on the glass painting so I thought it was the glass so I washed it before I used it again but it still cracked so I used a different glass but didn't wash it but it still cracked so I used a different paint and it worked soo well (:
@bacalalyka
@bacalalyka 3 жыл бұрын
Oh no sorry about that... Idk why but the dollar store paints do work alright for me and for most glass artists too, it could be a case of a defective item too I’m guessing? Another tip I have is for you to mix the expensive & cheap one together, I find that it could give you that nice quality + quantity balance! If you’re interested, I also have another video on how to avoid smudges, cracks & bubbles on anime glass paintings!

I use to use sharpies on my glass paintings and it always seem to smudge off and it’s not dark enough so I want to buy markers that is dark enough, will stick and not smudge. I’m also going to try it on smaller glasses and clear phone cases, Thank you for this ❤️

great video!!! thank u a lot... but I have one more question and I don't really know how to fix my problem, but the thing is... when I'm painting I look to the other side of the glass and it looks really good but once the paint dries.. I see a lot of bubbles... I was wondering if you know why that happens or how can I fix or avoid those bubbles such beauty works.... Thanks again!!

Hello! Sorry for the very late reply, but personally, I find that creating a thin dry layer before dabbing paint helps, also making sure the consistency of your paint is not too watery but a little thick 👍🏼

i have already started and im watching this. i completely agree with the marker , double coat, to double check and of course the picture reference one. for me i use the kind of old paletes u used to use but because i dont hv paint pots i use aliminium to cover it (got it from my art teacher) and i dont have an ipad and pencil so i rly have to reply on printed images with the colour so its easier to see (a big waste honestly 😔)

I was pretty lucky to figure it out early, at first I just used a regular sharpie and immediately thought this isn't gonna work in the long run, I need to find a paint in a form of a pen, and I never thought there is indeed something like that! 😂 Although here is still a trick I personally do to know if a pen will work: 1. Draw something small on glass (anything really ex: smiley face, flower, etc) then wait for it to dry out. 2. Grab a flat brush and paint on it (swiping strokes) I would say about 5-10 times with light to medium hand pressure. 3. If it doesn't budge or fade much it should most likely be fine to use. Although once you start actually painting, use a lighter hand pressure or dab the paint instead + You could also try and fix the thickness by scraping parts with x-actos and toothpicks Hope this helps 🤎

Hey there! I really loved the video and the tips where great too, thank you 😊! I am doing anime glass art too and for outlineing I am using an oil based permanent marker. And for those who can't afford a paint marker ( in my country it's super ecpensive ) you can use an oil based permanent marker just make sure you do several coats until it's all clear. ( at least this method worked for me ). And again thank you very much for the great tips!😁

Thank you. I am new to this subject on glass, but I like to play with the amount of translucency present across the piece ...If the glass you are painting on will be framed and displayed in front of a light source, electric powered, or just a window it might enhance your work.to consider varying the opacity,
