In this video you can know how to safely buy a used laptop. A last years premium model may be better than this years midrange laptop in almost all departments and mostly in battery life matters.
The premium laptops are always built to a higher standard than a mid range device even for the same specs. Anyone who has used a premium laptop will vouch for the saying
"SPECS ARE NOT ALL THAT MATTER"
Share with anyone who is apprehensive in buying a used laptop and be aware before getting cheated.

type following command or copy paste:
powercfg.exe/batteryreport
(in some laptops the command may omit the .exe from the above command)

This guy really knows what he is talking about. Especially all the portable diagnostic tools he referenced. I use them all myself and they will tell you all the diagnostic and spec information you need to know if you are buying a used laptop, or just want to know more about the one you have. Absolute respect to you my friend.....peace.

I know nothing of laptops, or computers. Is there a chance that someone will install something that can somehow steal your credit card info, or personal information when your purchasing a used laptop? I found one for a good price and just want to see how I can actually check for something of that nature.

@@taylortyler9995 Hi T, when buying a used laptop make sure it has been refurbished/back to factory settings. The only way your info could be stolen is by malware/viruses. Always install a good antivirus programme asap. Bitdefender is really good....or malwarebytes. Don't fall for the free ones as they are rubbish and wont keep your info safe. Never open an email attachment from someone you dont know as that is a really common way that malicious stuff gets into your computer. Lastly, use different passwords for everything and make them at least 16 characters long and as random as poss. Hope that helps...peace to ya.

This was the best video I found on the subject. So many other videos were just so basic & not helpful. I just picked up an awesome used laptop that was pristine. I ran all these tests- no issues detected. The only thing I couldn't check was the HDMI output, but it was fine when I checked it later.

Thank you Edit: Used the tools given in video and bought myself a used thinkpad for 40 percent of a new one, it was started up only 622, basically new and the writes were under 200 gigs) it was used as a backup laptop.

484 is quite high. Your battery may need replacement in a year or so

Designed capacity vs actual capacity wil tell you percent battery wear and tear. More than 10pc less is not good

Battery bar will tell u the amount of wear and tear of battery. More than 15pc wear means heavy use

You need to run INTEL XTU 1. IN Intel XTU software, see for benchmark. Or 2. Download CINEBENCH AND start benchmarking See if cpu becomes too hot throttles, you can see this in Task Manager or CPUZ software
