I feel so proud of my self lol I didn't watch any video prior to buying my portable aircon and I can say that all these features except the ability to turn on my air con before I get home were considered, and formed the basis of the unit I eventually went for :)

Hello L-E, thank you very much for the info in this video, very helpful. I would like to ask you a question. On all portable air conditioners there are usually two air intakes on the back of the unit; one is called the air filter and the other one the intake grille which is always located at the bottom. The air filter is always removable and washable no matter the brand and model but the intake grille is sometimes removable and washable and sometimes not. So my question is the following: Does it matter much if the intake grille (bottom one) is removable and washable or not? If not removable, how can it be properly cleaned? Thank you very much in advance for considering my query. Best regards, Sebastien Vallieres

Brilliant thanks…..Aristotle reckon difference between A rated and A plus rated energy use is 20% less?….wondering if that is correct?

If it’s hot as hell should you compensate by select a higher BTU than you normally would based on room size? There’s more demand when its 120 degrees outside.

Hi please can you help me ? I bought 12000 btu blyss unit yesterday .when the unit is on air con mode no air is expelled from the back at all .when i put it in dehumidifier mode it blows really cold air and expells hot air from the back pipe .it seems to work allot bettter in dehumidifier mode as in ac mode the hot air seems to be being taken from the room .is this normal ? My understanding is when AC is on it should always expell air ? Please help .

Been looking at the air conditioning system units but I don't want to stick a pipe out off the window seen some with ice packs
@lords-electrical
@lords-electrical Күн бұрын
There are some air coolers on the market where you add ice but they won't be as effective as proper air conditioning units, but you are correct that you need to have a pipe out the window.

I have this model of air conditioner. It has two drain locations, one in the middle and one at the bottom. Can I use the middle one to drain it? Like someone else said, having the drain at the very bottom is mental how anyone is meant to constantly drain underneath is beyond me.

I just got Nedis Smartlife 9000BTU for 3600SEK and was one of cheapest ones for good quality I could get but got side panel pop out from fabric and checked then radiator and it had damage from fabric too first day use and fan on lowest feels too high noice and highest is 65db but 65db way to high for my ears. will call my company to get new one and send old one back after one day of usage or I will keep it if they give me 25% price cut. portable AC in Sweden goes from 3000SEK and feels expensive vs other country.

I have a very odd shaped room in the loft conversion, so all i could do really is guess the room size, 12k btu kept shutting off and on again not cooling the room, so i guessed the btu's were too high, so i purchased a 2nd unit at 8000 btu's and this one continually runs and BOTH leak and both units leak and i cannot run either of them without a winodw open, if i shut all the windows to seal the room the air con units do not work properly heating the room up??? however,....if i run BOTH the air con units the both still leak BUT they work as they are meant to??? (too expensice to have a wall mounted unit along with matinence costs), to this day i have no idea which btu size i need :(

You forgot to mention, draining them of the collected water, this can be really awkward if the unit is heavy, and for some elderly people impossible, as the position of the drain valve is usually at the very bottom of the unit, making it impossible to place a container underneath

What’s the quietest AC unit you know of?
@NBPostman
@NBPostman 2 ай бұрын
I am considering using a Portable AC unit instead of a Heat Pump. I know that they are not designed for this, but would it be possible to vent the Portable AC down into the basement and out a 5-6" vent through the foundation like you would do for a heat exchanger or dryer? This would make it less intrusive then putting the vent in the window. This would be better for security because it is easy for a burglar to knock out the vent pipe to access a home, but it would be much harder for the burglar to squeeze through a 5" vent in a wall or foundation
@jt5765

How is a burglar fitting through a 6" orifice wherever it's fiited?
@NBPostman
@NBPostman Ай бұрын
@@jt5765 you are right it would be much harder for a burglar to fit through a 5 to 6 inch vent in a foundation, instead of knocking out these temporary window inserts, that could easily be removed. If a vent was made in the wall it could make a portable air conditioner a permanent solution.
@jt5765
@jt5765 Ай бұрын
@@NBPostman sorry I didn't realise you were talking about window inserts. I guess they are pretty safe if in a elevated window but I wouldn't leave them unattended on a ground floor window.

I suck at math im curious to know what type btus should i get for a large studio room or the size of a dining room 🤔 i also heard these portable units get very hot when there on all day? Also i heard some have inventors...what exactly do those do? I heard those are supposed to be better.?
@martinmuldoon603
@martinmuldoon603 3 ай бұрын
Hello, I think you meant inverter, this allows compressor motor to vary speed, when unit has reached the desired cooling temperature required it can maintain that temperature by slowing the compressor rather than shutting off completely then when temps would risen a normal unit would have to start up at full cooling. The main difference is inverter can stay running constantly using very little electricity compared to a normal air on off standard air con. Note it can take 5-6 starting current to get a normal air con motor started than to keep it running, more start up reduce overall life expectancy of compressor, however invertor units have more electronics so could be more complex or easy damaged by power surges for example.

Another is if single or dual tubes. And make sure your electric plug will work.
@martinmuldoon603
@martinmuldoon603 3 ай бұрын
This is a very important point, all these units should have 2 pipes for efficiency otherwise they create negative pressures in the room that will draw hot air from outside. IMO these single pipe units should be band as they ding really work well enough probably about 30% efficiency compared to a split unit or even a dual pipe, yes dual pipes are ugly and comber som looking but the only portable unit you should consider. In other words FAKE Marketing, but dual or install split

Considering that warm air meets cold condenser - of course. Amount of condensation depends on the humidity of your room air.

I assume it is because they can be moved easily between rooms rather than a static one that is permanently plumbed in.
