Moor was the Bond I grew up with too. He was my fave Bond, but his movies were so schlock LOL. It was him, Connery, Brosnan, Craig, Dalton, Lazenby. At least for me. For the longest time, Connery was my fave because...well, Connery.

@@BigDaddyJinx ...Yes- Roger Moore's Bond movies definitely had some whimsical subplots, and a lot of "goofy" moments....a bit TOO MANY "goofy" moments, I think, in my opinion... However, I wasn't even in my teens when I first saw Moore's Bond movies- And my silly, immature mindset definitely allowed me to ENJOY most of those "goofy" moments, instead of slap my forehead and say, "WHAT the hell is THIS?" Another thing that helped me to look past the silliness is the fact that my dad would always chuckle and laugh when that stuff happened. And me, being his son, whatever HE would laugh at, I would laugh at.

I watched this movie recently for the first time. That opening scene is awesome. I also think this movie while silly at times is still a top 5 Bond film. I also feel “License to Kill” is underrated along with Dalton’s performance. .. He’s a real loner, a rebel.

The whole thing about Roger Moore's age...I see it differently, I see him as an aging Bond with a lot of experience. M calls in Bond for the near impossible missions because he knows Bond will most likely solve it. He is smart, intelligent, physically fit and has never failed a mission before. So if you watch all the Moore films in succession then yes, he ages, but that's only natural. Bond is allowed to age like a fine wine.

Nice one, Minty. Though honestly, I think the reason why they had no trouble convincing Moore to return for the 5th film ("For Your Eyes Only") is because it was a lavish vacation disguised as a 007 movie. Seriously, everything was so ridiculously laid back and chill at the beautiful locations that I think Moore came back for that one because he realized he'd basically be paid for going on a Working Vacation; with not too much work. Frankly, to say it's not one of the better Bond films is putting it very, very mildly.

Octopussy is one of my favorites, probably because I have a thing for jewelry smuggling stories. Any guesses what my favorite Bond film is? The other incident that occurred, which you can see from start to finish, is the yo-yo buzz-saw fight. When Bond pulled on the yo-yo's string and dragged the enemy down, the fall actually broke the stuntman's arm. if you look closely at him after that point in the movie, you can see a cast on his arm, which he cleverly keeps out of sight behind him and a scattering of chicken feathers and props/scenery. This was not Maude Adams last outing in a Bond film. She is an extra in "A View to a Kill", making her the only Bond girl to be in three Bond movies, but not the longest running female co-star (That went to Lois Maxwell's Moneypenny). There were a few things here I didn't know, so thanks for the info. Might see f I can find that comic. I know it has a certain art style more reserved for paintings, but it is at least unique.

I' currently reading "As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales From the Making of The Princess Bride" by Cary Elwes. He was a production assistant on Octopussy, and one of his jobs was driving Roger Moore. He was terrified of crashing the car and killing Moore! "I could already see the headlines: 'Lowly Production Assistant Kills Bond!' During one of our early morning drives, Mr Moore actually looked up form his newspaper and said, in that very calm and collected manner of his, 'You can speed up a little if you want to.'"

I remember this was the first Bond movie I ever went to see, I was eight. The whole family went as one of my best friends, at school's father was a goldsmith and made the fake Fanergé eggs, for the movie. Although they weren't precious metals and gems, they were realistic copies and needed a skilled goldsmith to make.

I heard that Pierce Brosnan was offered Bond when Octopussy was in the planning stages, but he couldn't get out of his Remmington Steele contract.

Cubby Broccoli had Bros in mind to replace Moore after meeting him on the set of For Your Eyes Only, where Pierce's wife played Countess Lisl. I don't know if he approached him at that stage. I know Mel Gibson was. But he turned it down. As he did every time he was asked, up to GoldenEye.

Pierce was offered to play Bond after A View To A Kill for the movie The Living Daylights. The contract was signed and early promotional shots where taken with Brosnan holding the gun etc...but then ABC extended Remington Steele for another 5 episodes of the last season and Pierce couldn't get out of the show, and Cubby said "no"...so Brosnan was out and Timothy Dalton was in.

First Bond movie I watched as a kid (on TV). I love how the story is dark and grim, but told in a goofy way. It was one of Moore's finest. And yes, Barbara Carrera was awesome as Fatima Blush.

The tiny jet was a real airplane called a Bede BD-5J. It was capable of some 300 mph (480 kmh) and was popular at airshow venues.

Actually when it comes to casting Maud Adams as Octopussy it was actually Rodger Moore's suggestion. He felt that out of all the available women he was going to act with Maud Adams was his favorite. He stated that she is the best Bond girl he ever worked with and felt that she would be perfect for the role of Octopussy.

The Moore Bonds were my start my start with the franchise. This movie was my second one. I loved it and still love it. Seems without any preconceptions going into it, I thought the clown disguise worked perfectly. Honestly, with the need a spy has to blend in, it's the most practical disguise EVER seen in all the Bond flicks

I was in my 30s before I discovered that Connery wore a wig for every Bond movie he was in because he was bald as Hell. Sometimes you just don't know these things, or don't care enough to know and then are amazed and bewildered when you do find out. I always wondered about Connery's hair in NSNA but it never occurred to me it was a wig/hairpiece.

Moore's Bond was a little too suave for my tastes. Connery's portrayal showed Bond with a rough edge that I preferred. I liked 'Never Say Never Again's showing an aging Bond at a health spa-with Pat Roach getting splashed in the face with what we think is Bond's urine sample that acts like acid. Doesn't get better than that.

I remember at the time that it did seem a bit "out there" at the time for a 007 movie. I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond, so the Sean Connery Bond was strange to me. I was surprised later in life to learn he was the 1st Bond. Great video, and thanks for the in depth trip down memory lane!
