John Candy was just a funny dude. He was one of those people that could just naturally be funny and enjoyed making people laugh. I get a strange sense that he may have been a bit darker inside though. I didn't know the guy, but he gives me that vibe of a man who loved to make people laugh but was a pretty sad and lonely human when he was by himself. Just a vibe...could be wrong.

Absolutely fucking hilarious and not a word is spoken.

Oooooh, this is my most, all-time favourite movie; this film always makes me laugh, and breaks my heart when John Candy is sitting all alone in the train station at the end. Also when Neal has that mean rant at dell in the motel room, near the start of the film, and Dell's response is so genuine and pure of heart. I love the part when they wake up in the same bed and Neal has his hand "between two pillows." I purchased the soundtrack to this movie, the songs in this are awesome. I wish so much that John Hughes and John Candy were still alive, the world needs this kind of heartwarming, friendly humour again. There are so many epic, awesome moments in this movie; I watch this a bunch of times every year, especially at Christmas.

Absolutely one of my all-time favorite films. Any "road warrior" has experienced every one of the multiple travel disasters portrayed here. It's especially poignant for me because the STL-Lambert International Airport has always been my personal "Bermuda Triangle" of sorts. A transportation black hole I can never seem to escape. So, for Neil's F-Bomb meltdown to happen, in exactly the spot where I, too, SO WANTED and NEEDED to let it rip, was (and remains) the ultimate fulfillment of a long simmering dream of mine.

To me, it's THE John Hugh's masterpiece! And interesting tidbits you found Minty. As much as I'd love to see the "directors cut", I think it might be like The Blues Brothers. Though interesting to see the extra scenes, it just killed the pace and humor of the movie for me. The maturity of the movie I'd say is just right for 13+. The F bombs are gratuitous, but I'm sure kids hear more on the street on any given day than in one movie. And the scene between the two trucks to me is the funniest scene of ANY comedy movie! Though nightmarish, the editing is done so well there's nothing overpowering in the sequence, unless you step through it frame by frame and pause on it.

#9 is debatable. I’ve read that they shot the dinner (the flash scenes that Neil thinks about while going home in the train, was the original ending)... and Del was apart of that dinner. Another little interesting fact: The reason Del has a black eye towards the end of the movie is Bc Neil punches him after finding out Del didn’t get insurance for the rental car - which was used under Neil’s credit card.

This movie showed that Martin and Candy were not only great comedic performers, but also very competent actors. It' a shame that we lost Candy way too early, and that Martin has pretty much lost interest in making movies. People should also look up the number of films that John Hughes was involved in, whether writing, directing, or producing, it's amazing how prolific he was. Yeah, he's got a couple of stinkers in there, but overall a very good track record.

A friend of mine met and hung out with John Candy. He was very much like the characters he played. A big loveable lug.

I saw this the day it came out and still think it's one of the BEST ever Comedies and I always wondered why CANDY and MARTIN did not do another movie together! They worked perfectly together on this one! The F scene still makes me laugh every time! I heard a long time ago about all the extra scenes and always wanted to see those some day!

As an American I appreciate that a comedy centered around a U.S. tradition has universal appeal. My family discovered an Australian comedy called THE CASTLE that is both hilarious and heartwarming. I think it’s even free on KZfaq. I’d love it if Minty did an video endorsing it because even in Texas my family quotes this film regularly.

Ha! I was an exchange student to Melbourne in the mid-1990s and my host family loved that movie.

The "large Marge" scene was filmed in Lemoore California on the 198. They had to use fake snow along the edges of the highway for the scene

@@psychocircus7002 because I lived in Lemoore at the time. It was the only shot in the Valley that had "snow" on the ground for about a month

The scene where Candy and Martin turn into skeletons was one of the funniest moments in the movie. An absolute riot. Candy laughing like the devil, both almost being killed, the car’s sided trashed. One of the most humorous things ever put on film.

Great video Minty. This is a fan favorite of mine and its sad to see how it has very little air time nowadays and how some people have forgotten this Thanksgiving classic. I watch it every year as I do with other holiday films and for being a film about Thanksgiving, Im surprised its not highly remembered here in the states. Anyway great job on the video and cant wait for more holiday videos in the future.

I heard they had a hell of a time finishing the scene where they were spooning. Neither Martin nor Candy could hold in the laughter.
