When IH was appointed editor of Private Eye at the tender age of 26, outgoing editor Richard Ingrams explained it was because "Ian is the most fiercely moral man I know". The Eye has been in excellent hands ever since.

Ian Hislop is a legend.

What worries me is that HIGNFY, Hislop and Private Eye are pretty much the only serious challengers to the political establishment. We need his combative honesty so very much.

I honestly believe that Ian Hislop was one of those people savvy enough to see right through the Brexit nonsense for what it really was and that is why he wisely chose Remain but unfortunately far too many of UK electorate had been hoodwinked into voting Leave by various unscrupulous right-wing clowns.

I think of Ian Hislop as the Noble Man of the People.

Ian is a legend. A highly intelligent person who knows what he is talking about. Private Eye readers knew all about the post office scandel and the government had the same information but it was only after the show when the UK population as a whole found out did the government start to do anything about it.

I lived in England for 20 years during which time I saw the rise of Thatcher and her destructive Privatisation of so many of the Socialist policies of Wilson and the Left. I've also been a subscriber to Private Eye (and, back home in a country in which successive Governments have followed the Thatcherist doctrine, still am). Without the sanity of people like Hislop we can only look forward to an ever-worsening socialist collapse.

Ian Hislop is in a strange position. As the editor of Private Eye, and team captain on Have I Got News For You, he has become a mainstay of the British entertainment industry. He is an ex public school boy, and as such is expected by the majority of people to behave in a certain manner, exhibiting certain political opinions. He is also expected to be FUNNY. However... As the editor of a satirical magazine, one of the original writers on Spitting Image, and a highly educated individual, he can see the injustice and pomposity across ALL political affiliations and has no fear in attacking them on whichever platform is available to him. I would vote this man into power. But only if Paul Merton was Home Secretary.

Ian Hislop quite rightly dubbed Patel as Priti Awful following her accusations of bullying from a civil servant inside the Home Office, and it seems as she's someone who is just hellbent on trying to make a name for herself no matter who gets caught up in the crossfire. Extremely selfish woman.

Ian Hislop is great. In the the past he was the person who pointed out in a round about way that Jeffrey Archer was a lying, cheating crook. 2 or 3 years later, Archer was taken to Court and found guilty of being a lying, cheating crook and sent to jail.

Don't always agree with his views. But hugely admire his integrity. Private eye under him is one of the few written press that you can trust. To not be tempted to spin or lie for outrage and sales like the trash newspapers, that's a man with a real legacy

Been a fan of Private Eye and Ian Hislop for a long time. A journalist told me once that PE was the publication that would print stories that the news paper would ignore.

I remember being shocked when he was appointed Editor of Private Eye when Richard Ingrams retired. Surely such a young shaver could not hope to manage such a post. How wrong was I. For a start he got sued less often! His devotion to investigative journalism has been proven many times, not least by the Post Office debacle (together with Computer Weekly). However, he has/retains a great sense of humour although I love seeing his righteous anger when dealing with self-serving, slimy politicians.
