1) Deyton was not sacked in 2022 - get your facts right 2) Clarkson was not sacked at all - he was suspended on pay because to outright sack him given the circumstances and potential reasons would have opened up the BBC to grounds for unfair dismissal. He was therefor kept suspended on pay until his contract ran out. Hammond and May were offered new contracts at the end of the season but they declined - so thats wrong too

I think you’ll find that if you physically assault a work colleague, that’s gross misconduct and grounds for instant dismissal. So he wouldn’t have had grounds for unfair dismissal at all.

@@iangascoigne8231 Clarkson wasn't an employee though, he was freelance so from what I understand, the rules are a little different that's why he was suspended and his contract was not renewed.

@@luvstellauk He was still employed by the BBC if not why did he have a contract with them? Freelance just means he can work for other people. They could have tore his contract up there and then, because there will have been behaviour clauses in it. They probably didn’t because it was due to run out. They didn’t renew his contract, in effect that is sacking him. The guy he hit was a producer a work colleague. I was replying to someone saying he could have sued the BBC for unfair dismissal. I suppose technically he could have, but I’d be surprised if he could have won.

Because there really isn't anyone who could replace him... They have some good guest presenter's though so that format works, BBC, if it ain't broken don't fix it Angus still does some acting I think, but he is the only one on the list who I actually miss seeing 🤷🏼♀️

Though this is from the 1970’s, you’ve missed one of the most infamous cases of a TV Host getting sacked: Bill Grundy: following his infamous studio interview with the Sex Pistols on his daytime TV show…he tried to wind them up, to try to show the viewers what they were like, and it totally backfired on him…Think, by all accounts, he never worked on TV again. Cannot believe WatchMojoUK missed that from list, as it’s probably one of most notorious interviews on British TV. For most (not all) of the the TV Hosts on this list, their sacking didn’t definitively end their career, but it most definitely did for Grundy.

Jeremy Clackson wasn’t sacked, his contact was at an end and the bbc decided not to renew it. Saying that the only person on that list I feel sorry for is John Leslie, Miss Johnson said it wasn’t him, Wright admitted he had got it wrong, every time he has been accused of assault he’s been found not guilty yet his career was ruined, when all evidence shows that he did nothing wrong

Matthew Wright "innocently" said it was him when he saw the name pencilled in on the show presenter's notes while they were on air... Apparently everyone denied being the person who had written the name on the notes 🤷🏼♀️

Richard Bacon is now a highly respected and popular radio presenter. Clarkson and Co have a very successful series on Amazon and each has a solo career, Clarkson's Farm is one of the major successes of 2022, nominated for several awards

Clarkson definitely deserved the sack However "funny" people thought he was, punching someone in the face because they can't let you have your own way, (over a steak for God's sake) is not only a sackable offence, it's also a criminal act, one which the other guy was browbeaten into dropping any official complaints. It was the biggest sign that Clarksons arrogance had outgrown him.

Guessing the stream of guest hosts on Have I Got News For You in the past 20 years have meant nothing? Might be a bit controversial. But anyone who is accused of something ILLEGAL should be suspended at most until the police have investigated it and determined whether it is or not. If it is controversial but not illegal, especially when it comes to racist or sexist comments, you might not like them but that is why we have freedom of speech and freedom of expression. What goes on in someone's private life as long as it's not illegal shouldn't be fired over such matters. Otherwise, you are being hypocritical over what people are allowed to say and do i.e have an affair. Not illegal but is comprovincial.

Middleton is correct about BLM though - look at the lady in charge spending millions on a ranch house in California. Also, Clarkson landed pretty well and now has 2 shows, with Clarkson's Farm and The Grand Tour on Netflix. BBC were the ones who lost out there for pleasing some nothing producer at the expense of the talent who brought them huge viewership.
