There is something called "progressing a storyline" and a loss now might be a win later. Biggest example is Cody losing at WM39 and not finishing the story was a part of a greater storyline, and then when Cody did win, the positive emotion it generated was higher than if he won it a year earlier.

Interesting take. I felt like it was a mistake that they realized, because they didn’t continue the story over the next year so much as they just did it over again and changed the ending.
@TheShadowfist45
@TheShadowfist45 27 күн бұрын
@@All5Horizonsnah they definitely always planned to have him take it, the only thing that threw a wrench in was the Rock finally being available, but the reason it wasn't carried through the entire year was because as we're seeing now they had other plans for the bloodline, and Roman probably needed a lot of that time to keep himself fresh enough for the big moment matches. Also, they seemed like they felt they had to give Cody a more clear aura and presence through his trials and tribulations outside of his feud with Roman. That part I disagree with though because his aura upon return was great, and only bolstered after the pec tear and following match and return.

I'm surprised Sting vs. Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Championship at Victory Road 2011 wasn't on this list due to the fan backlash that the audience did as the fans after the match abruptly ended due to Sting wisely calling an audible and retaining the title via quick roll-up due to Jeff's dangerously inebriated state revealing he was in no condition to be in a match responded with various cries showing their displeasure including "This match was horse-shit!" and Sting basically agreed with the fans with his response being the Shoot-response of "I agree this match sucked."

Roddy Piper vs. Chavo Guerrero. Piper tells the story in his autobiography. Piper had previously pissed off the fans with some... unsavory remarks about Mexico and Mexican people. He apologized and promised to learn to play the Mexican national anthem on his bagpipes and play it before their next match. So at the start of their next match, he made like he was going to do it, and then belted out "La Cucaracha" instead. Fans went apeshit and charged the ring. He and Guerrero had to keep punting people off the ring until police were able to escort them out.
