With the brand split, I think what really happen was Ric Flair bought over 50% ownership of wwe from the Mcmahon kids, as Vince and Flair could not see eye to eye and hated each other they decided to split the shows and each own a separate brand.

WWE really seems to lean into getting cheap heat by leveraging the fact they disagree with their own fans and/or want to push their narrative regardless (is this ironically or unironically WWE booking being the ultimate Control Your Narrative bros?). It's... very strange. Like when they used the fact that Nia injured Becky to try and make Nia look powerful. It was just... no, fans that know don't like her because they don't want to see their favorite wrestlers hurt, but then they were making fans that weren't "in the know" preconditioned to believe any rumors that she's dangerous. That doesn't make her a good heel. It just leans into the stigma, and arguably makes her reputation more likely to get overblown even if she actively puts in the effort to try and change it. I have no clue at this point if she ever did try to improve or not, because they didn't make me hate her character, they made me not want to see her wrestle at all, and now she may never wrestle again. I guess... you... showed us? Maybe? I don't even know. What a confusing product.

I honestly think the brand split gets too much hate. Many say that the whole brand supremacy thing is unrealistic but you see this all the time in professional unscripted sports. You saw this this in the 20th century with the AFL and NFL as well as the ABA and the NBA. Each were their own league but each argued their own league was better due to better players/competition. You also see this in soccer/football. People discuss who is the better player by also looking at the leagues they’re in to see who is going against tougher competition. This is also seen with mma as you see it today with ufc, bellator, one, and in the past the WEC, strikeforce, and Pride claiming their promotion had the best fighters. Brand/league supremacy is a real thing.
