I am a teacher of 19 years, and I can tell you that bonding and getting your students trust is very important. You can teach until you are blue in the face. A child has to want to learn, and by doing this is by having some fun and forming good relationships with each of them.

I find that if the teachers connect with the students, joking around a little bit, it helps. The teacher shouldn't be seen as just a teacher, but also a friend and helper. I'm in middle school currently, and my English and Science teachers have teacher Instagrams. Really fun.

This is a great dream you have, young lady. What I like so much about it is that it is very realistic and very achievable. Don't let anyone detract you from it. Before you graduate, you will encounter good teachers and bad teachers. Learn from both. Learn how to BE from the good ones and how NOT TO BE from the bad ones. And never let the bad ones sour your dream. In the meantime, keep a clean record. Any bad deeds could ruin that dream for you.. Keep a good heart and always love children. I'm not a teacher yet, but as soon as I get my own opportunity, I plan to be one of the best. And you should too. God bless you! And Happy Thanksgiving!

I do really have an itch to do it though and I want to reflect on the amazing and not so amazing teachers I have now and how they make me feel and help me with the things i am struggling with. I must say I have put on the brakes and like you I feel like small group is one thing that is the most important to get better at and even though I have been saying it I have been trying to get better at other multiple things such as stations, decorating my room, and etc. I am definitely stopping and focusing on small groups over the summer and the new year to come. Diana Lopez keep in mind that you get another chance every year to start over. It takes a few year to really get the hang of it. That's doesn't mean the first couple of years can't be wonderful, but be patient with yourself. You'll get better faster than you think. I started a KZfaq channel last year and it's been fun to look back and see how much I've grown. 😀

This is the 9th month of my First Year as a High School Teacher and I actually sort of teared up watching this vid because it's really like really true. It's indeed a struggle! It's survival. It's always a TEST, your skills, your competence, your effort so you push yourself to the best of your abilities everyday, your confidence, your strength as a person. The pressure is on to prove yourself to your kids whom you really care about and love and to the admins who will smile at you on your first week and after that ignores you on the hallway and you go thinking am I awful on observations? am I stupid? It's a lot to take in. I was super stressed. I'm crying a lot, I'm crying so much because I feel really bad on most days. It's failure left and right It's so hard to pick up yourself. But you know what, I am a teacher, everything is a process. I'm going to be better, I'm going to improve, MY SECOND YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT BECAUSE MY FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE MOLDED ME TO BE BETTER. Just patience, grit, intelligence and trust, we will get there. I swear!

ya i agree its easier to be-able to do all the stuff but when you actually get in front of the class room . It all changes so what i am trying to figure is the optimal gradual way to acquire the skills without actually being in front of the classroom to easy the transition when you actually get infront of an audience. Behavior management is a must for lower level its more important at that stage of teaching then pure knowledge.

Have you heard of the Responsive Classroom? I am on my last year of college I am getting my BA in Early Childhood, during one of my observations of a kindergarten room I was so impressed with the teacher and the way her classroom flowed. She shared some books that is a part of the Responsive Classroom and I have been buying their books for the past year (I have like 5 of them but have only finished one). Love your videos!!

I think that being fair to your students no matter what will make listening to you WAAAY easier. Like seriously I hate when teachers never give reasons behind their actions and only command things to show authority, “Because I said so” is THE WORST thing you can say in response to “why”. If you treat your students like an equal other than underlings who absolutely must obey every command just because the command escaped your lips, they’ll trust your judgement and it may make listening to you much easier

So happy I found this channel! I'm in year 3 out of 5 in my concurrent education university program, and I plan on teaching French when all is said and done. Thankfully, my program has practicum teaching placements every single year, so we bank a few years of teaching experience before actually landing a full time job. I think I get a little overwhelmed when I think of all the content and resources I need to accumulate to get through an entire year! Blows my mind how much stuff some teachers keep on hand - and most of it is useful! Any tips on how to get your hands on anything and everything? Also, I'm not sure if its the same everywhere, but I hear many teachers end up spending a ton of their own money to buy various resources for their classroom, any tips/feedback on that?
@BridgingLiteracy
@BridgingLiteracy 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Emma! Sorry so late! Don't worry about 'collecting' everything right away. You will accumulate items as you go along. I started picking up items in college and haven't really stopped. Yes, you will probably spend some of your own money. But you make the determination on how much you are comfortable spending. Spending a ton of your own money will NOT make you a better teacher. Check out garage sales and craigslist for books or items you 'need' for your room. Have fun with it and focus on who you want to be as a teacher, not what your room will have in it. Good luck!

What was it like for you when you were a student teacher and you had to stand in front of the class for the first time. I don't want to mess up, even though i want to work with k-2 and i know when they are that age they wont even care or think twice about it like i would.

@@skylawilliams7296 aaaaah sorry to hear that but even if they heard it, so what, right? I think they will forget it soon. Because they are humans too and darting is way natural! Today is my 4th day and i can say it's not that bad. Some part of the class loved me from the first time (now every day they are asking me for a hug, i find that still weird :D) and another little part started to cry because of they were wanting "their teacher" but not me (at the end of the day they came to me and said that they're so sorry and they didn't mean to hurt me at all). Teaching is waaaay harder than i thought but i hope we can both survive, right? Sorry for my late reply and my English. Good luck Teacher Williams 😊😍

@@skylawilliams7296 Skyla Williams wow what a week ha? Even i felt the pain here while reading, sorry to hear all of that. But you know what? Those good calls can come to you anytime you want, right? Maybe 1-2 years later (if you still won't like the nursery teaching), you can apply for reaching seniors and tell them "i wanted to try nursery, now i learned that i didn't want nursery so I'll stick with the high school" :Dd At least you will stay away from your parents. After college life, living with parents was so damn bad for me so i can feel you (now I'm living with my sister. So it's not like "I'm by myself" which would be awesome :D but we both wanted to save our money for the future so everybody has to stay nice and welcome each other hahah). Maybe you should focus on good things and take the farting part as a bad sign. Now you have another fresh chapter, ha? I'm sending looots of good energy to you. Please wise me up with news. gl 🍀💕

Tip 2 is very important. Behaviour management is one of the most important things to get right when creating a good learning environment. I remember hearing a particularly relevant phrase for good practice - 'Don't smile until Christmas'. When most classes start off in the new term in September, its better to start out stricter and gradually ease into become more lenient once you've got to know the students. Usually after the Christmas period, must teachers have figure out what works and what doesn't when managing the classroom; the same goes for the students regarding their behaviour. Thanks for sharing the video, its was very interesting!
