What PSI do you run in your tyres?
@charlesmansplaining
@charlesmansplaining Жыл бұрын
According to the app I've been running my tires about 10 PSI to high. I do use about 5 PSI less in the front than the rear. I worry about going to soft because if the tire / rim bottom out when you hit something hard in the road you get snake bite and flat which has happened to me before, but I also was using those Schwalbe Aerothan tubes which I think contributed more than just 5 PSI low pressure. I check my pressures before every ride. I'm going to give this new recommendation a try and see what happens.

Super interesting topic! well explained and you got a great voice to listen to. Good more chill channel which is 👌🏻 for the cycling community. My impression is that atleast for me wider tires the further up is a bit off. Iam 80-82kg and run Bontrager HardCase 38mm tires mostly since I run my road bikes in a variaty of enviroment. 40-45psi feels realy mushy a few days ago, decent fast but felt I lost speed. A variaty of tarmac also, but most parts is quite good tarmac. Still experimenting for a hole year. But for cornering and comfort I like 70PSI or a bit more for 38mm. I run 2x roadbike with same setups Trek Domane SL5 2021&2023 model so a lot of IsoSpeed and decent quality of the carbon. 40-45 on 38mm is top mushy in my opinion. But still experimenting so ballpark is still 50-85PSI. 75PSI 38mm on roadbike is nice tho!

Great info put across clearly, well done there. When riding my gravel bike it's on a mix of road/off road so I just split the difference, not very precise I know, but does at least save stopping to inflate/deflate all the time, LOL. Keep-up the good work.

Hey Aspen, Glad it was helpful! Make sense that you split the difference, I pretty much do the same on my gravel bike. Safe riding friend! 😁

On my Vittoria Rubino Pro, it gives a recommend min pressure of 100psi which I think is pretty high for most riders, not sure if I can set a pressure lower than that.

Probably the most debatable topic between riders, tyre pressures and tube vs tubeless. Everyone will have their own opinion. I wonder what the composition of road surface the app bases the figures on 🤔, I mean some roads are very smooth and some are a lot rougher to disperse water. So finding that fine line to roll over the road imperfections 👌. According to the app I'm 25psi too high 😂🤷‍♂️. I'll give it a try and see how it feels, maybe something in the middle would be a sweetspot 👍 Thanks for doing all the hard work and researching the subject. I look forward to your non biased and non sponsored review of tubed vs tubeless in the future 👌

Hey Scott, it would be interesting to know the composition of the road surface that helps then get those figures. 🤔 The app is saying you are 25psi too high? That's quite a difference. Like you said it's what works for you... and you know your setup best. For me, I always feel like higher PSI is faster rolling, I don't know if that's all in my mind though. Hight pressure = More feed back from the bike = feels faster to me Lower pressure = Less feedback = feels slower I think I need to do a video with a full test on the tyre pressure (thanks for the idea) 👍🏽 Safe riding as always, mate!!

@@JourdainColeman you're opening a can of worms haha. I would find it really interesting from a impartial perspective like yourself. Different tyre pressures on flat, hill, downhill, even 23/25/28 tyres.... It would be difficult to keep the same exact outside factors like wind or wattage..... Maybe easier uphill and complete standing start for the downhill just rolling 🤔.... Even different wattages uphill 100,200,300,400 🤷‍♂️ to see any different with pressure or even standing..... Can of worms haha I've got a decent amount of KOMs in all areas, long, sprint, flat, up /down and all I can tell you is the PSI was always near max 🤷‍♂️ (as it felt faster)

Glad I found your video, my tires label says minimum 85psi, but the AXS calculator says 65 -70 psi, should I be concerned about the minimum tire pressure label? Thx

Thanks for your video. You said you use GP 5000, which is the same tire I use. However, the tire only has a max tire pressure, but it does not indicate a min pressure anywhere. What should I do with this situation? The min tire pressure might not be a concern for you, but because my body weight is much lighter so I am curious about the min tire pressure. Thank you for your advise.

Hey! Firstly it depends on the width of the tyre, 28mm can be run lower than 25mm for example. Tubeless can also be run at a lower pressure. On a 25mm I know people that run 80ish or a touch lower. (Like you said, it depends on your weight). 28mm and I've seen people run in the 70's. Give it a try and see what feels good to you. 👍🏽

U are wrong. Ur not faster cuz of being comfortable. It actualy slows u down when u get bumped up and down constantly.

Even when you're coasting on a rough downhill road the vibrations will absorb a lot of energy/speed and slow you down when the tirepressure is too high.
