Utilizing multiple of these tips together helps the most. I have some things: 1. Set multiple small goals that you can work towards at the same time so you can switch between activities. 2. It's okay to break from goals if you find something you want to do temporarily. 3. Do something while you're motivated. You wont know when that weird motivation will come again. 4. Be social. A clan makes things much much better.

I used to hate clue scrolls and questing (played a lot before the EOC days), but I started to used them as a way to force account progression. I would only do quests when a step required it. That was until the quest cape seemed a lot more achievable. Quest cape eventually lead to the achievement cape grind, which may lead to a music cape after. Setting small goals is a great way to chip away at account progression without losing to burnout. -Frinbar

I’m a returning player, took a fresh account to 70 combat skill, 60 in nearly all non-combat skills and acquired roughly 150qp. I did all this in about a month and a half. I’m so burnt out that I just had to take an extended break

I treat RuneScape like one of my other hobbies, I give time to it last though. So I only play when I have done my other hobbies or feel burnt out on the others. I set goals and only go after the ones I want. This has helped me loads as right now I’m chipping slowly away at inferno.

It is definitely hard to stop a burnout. With work kids or another game. Keeping things fresh with short and long goals is what's stopped me personally with burning out.

Burnout is hard to avoid, but having a good group of friends that also play the game is really important in my experience. If all else fails and you hate the particular grind, maybe a friend will tag along and grind with you

I didn't realize how important this was until my friends/raid group stopped playing. I'm now completely burnt out since I don't have my boys to go to CoX or ToB. Gearing up in WDR to do it is so boring and I'm now fully taking a break from my 2100+ total, 3.5b bank main account.

In the past, I avoided burnouts by taking short breaks. Sometimes that's all you need to miss your lil pixelated game. Now, the burnout sensation has greatly diminished being active in Kaoz's community. Everybody come come RSN: MalCrossing

aint that the truth! Whenever I started to feel burnt out or felt like i was hitting a wall with OSRS, i'd not play for a few weeks and focus on other life activities/hobbies, and then the itch to play OSRS again came back. but being in the Kaoz clan has definitely refilled my tank on wanting to play consistently. Plus, just meeting all the new people in the clan is a huge advantage as well!

I think burnout is natural with this game. It might just be a sign that you're playing too much and need to take a break. This game demands a lot of time and grinding repetitive task to get to late game. That will inevitably get tiresome and you will feel like there are other uses for your time that will give your life more happiness. Other games. The gym. Social activities. Going on a date. Get all that stuff in when you want it. You'll probably eventually say "i wonder what's been going on in Runescape", and then youll probably find the fun in it again pretty fast. And boom, youre back in it. That's why they say no one quits Runescape, they only take breaks. So if it starts not feeling fun to you, take that break. Youre not going to level down just because you log out for a bit.

Avoiding burnout for me was to start setting goals before going after items and skills I needed for the goals. Being a noob, I had to do some quests and grind agility, while also grinding magic and ranged to get Swamp Trident and Blowpipe for Zulrah, before going onto the rest of my road map to the Inferno. Joining a clan can also help, as talking to people can really help these grinds get over with. And if you're burning out anyway, I recommend afk. While not that great, it's still developing your skills while you do work or homework like I am. If you're maxed or at/near high level, you could also try streaming or making videos like I've been doing for a week now. This will develop IRL skills like editing and talking to people that come by and chat is always a neat and fun experience. + This adds to the AFK thing I was talking about, as editting while cutting down Redwood, Sand Crabbing, or NMZ for imbuing those rings and Slayer helm is a productive way as your account level up. I sincerely hope this helps a few people out with burnout. Good luck with your grinds, gamers, and may Luck favor you! -EdwardRanger

Something I don’t see recommended often is to take SHORT breaks. I define a short break between one day and one month. Sometimes even a couple days away from the game helps reset the mental and even helps with my wrists/hands (though proper posture and ergonomics helps immensely as well). Breaks don’t need to be half a year or longer. RSN: Nox Lion

Hello Kaoz, " questions. is your gear guide still valid for 2024? second, should i go Fang or Rapier? just doing casual slayer never done bosses. might ofc start thats the goal. but got much to fix before. reckon buying prims or tassets now is also quite expensive and new wep would help me do more dmg than tassy or prims?

I really like to switch between multiple activities or bosses to keep myself entertained and from burning out. Like I'll be killing Vorkath for an hour and then I decide to go kill Vardorvis and get like 10KC, and then I go and do farm runs and herb runs, and so on. I really like having variety and the option of doing multiple things. I will afk, and then when actively playing, I like to not be stuck to just one thing because I spent all my money on just one combat style, so I like to be able to go and kill Zulrah, and then do melee Vorkath, go to Vardorvis, do Muspah, woodcut, fish, and so on. I also it is really important to take breaks, and that has really helped me. Whenever I feel myself about to burnout and like I'm going to play the game because I have to instead of wanting to, I take a break and go play another game for like 2 months and take extended breaks.

I just came back from a 2 year break and wanted to get a 99. I saw how cheap 99 cooking was with wined, but didn't realize the grind it was even with how fast of a 99 it is. I just do 1000 wines at a time when I don't have time to do something else I'd rather do in game. Another method I learned from this is instead of looking up how many x I need to do from an xp calculator, I just grind out 5000 at a time. Example, I just cut 7000 rubies instead of going for a specific level. Taking big bites at a time when I feel I can handle it, otherwise if I set too lofty of a goal or too much, I will get discouraged (looking at you oak planks in my bank to get 83 construction). RSN: Fen Rau

What helps me is to have daily achievable goals I'm maxing atm, and atm i'm 1.3M away from mining 99 What helps me is to have a daily 100k xp goal. That way i know that probably in 2 weeks i'll have another 99 Achieving daily goals make the game fun for me, and it's even more rewarding when i get to play more and get maybe 200k xp. That means i'll reach my long goal a day earlier, for instance Because RS is such a grindy game. All goals are weeks, months away So this little things are really quite helpful to me

My personal tip that worked for me: If you burnout from osrs, give RS3 a try. It'll give you a whole new outlook and understanding on the game and tons of new content and bosses to try while still maintaining the same core game itself. Starts out pretty poorly but I promise it gets fun the further in you go and the progress goes much faster.

People burn out because they try to reach certain levels as fast as possible because they want to max or want a certain item. Most important is just making sure you have fun. Also, when creating a new account, consider making a pure, they can be quite amusing to play.
