Should note. Don't fully turn off animations because some apps and games can become glitchy if the animation is set to 0. Some animations such as confirmation dialogs, or game animations simply wont show if that setting is at 0.

Nova launcher has been my number one Android launcher for a very long time now you can choose the animation speed, scroll speed and customize a bunch of stuff. It also has a built in auto update feature, you can check for updates whenever you want if it has any updates. I do use developer options but i only change the usual stuff like animation scales and the duration scale.

You can also limit the background app usage in the developermode to allow a max of four apps to run in the background in total. Then you can go into your security and clean the phone which will then give you around a steady 55% ram usage. And the usage will rarely go up from that.

You are able to disable most bloat wear which compresses the file into almost nothing. I did that with my old HTC phone when my memory was very limited. But the updates will definitely make the phone more responsive! Use that device maintenance feature as well if you have it in your version of Android.

Watching this over Galaxy A71, tho 9 months old, its still pretty much fast as before. Its just that over time with data and all the apps make it a bit slower, and I know it can run faster with few tips 😊

Speaking of staying up to date, this video is not up to date. But if you really want to speed your phone up, you should enable "force 2d GPU rendering" in the developers option. I've done some testing, and it helps, especially 2d games, though it uses slightly more battery power.

*5:10** Nova launcher is the best launcher I've ever used.* It extremely customisable and fast. It also includes some stuff from newer versions. Have been using Nova since 2015/16 and it stayed the best launcher, while others became bloated with ads and crap in general.

Clearing app cache too probably the most single decent thing u can do to make it go back to normal again.

Usually I use Nova launcher, after a system update, vivo constantly changed it to ugly default launcher, even going directly to settings and setting home did not worked. Now I uninstalled the default launcher using adb, now it is working fine. Also used a package name viewer app to get the app's package name to uninstall

I have found many of the more popular apps, especially those from Google themselves, tend to get more and more bloated and resource-hungry with each successive release. Unless there is a major bug fix related to security of the app, I tend to avoid updating certain apps for as long as I can.

I did notice slightly faster speeds with animations set at .5 However, Samsung does not recommend leaving developer mode on, and as soon as you turn it off, animation settings return to 1. (Wish I could make them stay at .5, though.)

I get so much reading done with talkback set to 194% rate and victoria voice data. Sometimes it sounds like morse code for words using phonetic dash and das.

I know a lot of people think this is another classic ThioJoe joke video, but the tips worked for me. I have a Galaxy S5 running Android 6 that my company pays for so I'm stuck with it until it dies a natural death. It lost a lot of pep after the upgrade to Android 6 (no surprise) which was an annoyance but not a complete inconvenience. A couple months ago, IT security force installed some Big Brother applications that tanked performance and cut battery life in half. Just opening email takes nearly 1 minute (and a dozen impatient finger taps on the icon until they register). Switching apps takes 20+ seconds. I can't modify or disable the security apps, but a couple tips in the video (like Developer mode) gave back enough performance that I'm no longer tempted to smash the phone with a hammer. My argument that Android 6 is a security risk that should justify a new phone was a torpedoed when Google announced the vulnerability in Android 8, 9, and 10. FML.

Are there any tools for backing up the arrangement of icons on an Android phone's home screen? Or is this launcher-dependent? I use lots of folders to categorize my apps, and grouping them again after a factory reset takes hours. I'm thinking of the Android equivalent of backing up Windows 10's Start menu layout.

I heard of custom launchers for Android but never bothered using one since my reasoning was that it adds stuff on top of android making everything slower while MIUI is literally using a "home launcher". I replaced it with nova launcher and oh my god I haven't experienced my phone running this smooth in like a year (I have a redmi note 7, gonna upgrade very soon but I need this phone to last me a little while longer). Looks very neat. I love that it replaces the usual layout of apps with just one "page" and the rest being replaced with just a list of the apps organised. It makes it much faster to search for the apps while keeping your home screen very clean. You need to try a custom good performance launcher if something as simple as scrolling makes your phone shit itself. Now everything runs as smooth as butter... Well as smooth as 60hz can be which is still a lot when it doesn't chug for once.

With Launchers the origional phones default launcher will always be installed even if you install other launchers. Having a 2nd launcher along with the default can double up some things, running in the background.

I just installed Evie Launcher. I love it! 😍

I got a Samsung galaxy a51 about 2 months ago. It had 84 apps pre-installed (many that I cannot even disable as that option is greyed out) and including "system" apps the total is 418. If I root my phone so I can delete the bloatware, it voids the warranty. I would like to choose the apps I prefer over what Samsung, Microsoft, & Google (all 3 of which have blessed me with their cloud drives. Who needs 3 anyway?) have chosen for me. I know how to use them & don't really have time to learn new ones. Unfortunately there isn't enough room for theirs and mine. I've downloaded less than 10 apps that I feel are essential for me and my phone is always hot - also the battery is depleted in a matter of hours. I do appreciate your tips and will apply the ones I can.

Kinda surprised there was no mention of using a firewall...from my experience a firewall is far more effective than just crossing your fingers & not knowing exactly what the data saver option does exactly or how effectively it limits app data. (though data saver option does seem to be helpful it can also block some functions such as hot spot usage while data saver is on) A firewall has helped not only speed up my phone, but also I am able to get through a whole billing cycle of cell data phone usage without going over the limit & then having my service throttled. Not to mention battery life is hugely improved & my phone doesnt get super warm or hot anymore either. A firewall is also great for finding what apps might be interfering with other apps or phone functionality by the process of elimination. Isolating apps web access one by one. Only draw back with a firewall is having to keep every app & system service I'm not using at the moment locked down & blocked from internet access. Also having to manually toggle/ allow access for each app or system service is annoying....but I'd say using a firewall is far less annoying than all my cell data getting eaten up each month & my cell.battery getting drained & over heating the battery & CPU on a regular basis, if not constantly. Ps- other than all that...this is a great video that pretty much covers all the essential know hows on this topic. Thanks💗
