10 Tips to play Norsca Better! TW3

Quick 10 tips guide to Norsca for those who want to get better but not watch a long guide!
Tips:
1. Economy is not the best, use raiding, sacking, and razing
2. Terrible defensive faction lacking walls, try to prevent enemies from invading you at all
3. Target other Norsca faction leaders to confederate their faction quickly
4. Pick your god dedication early and stick to it
5. Units hit hard but weak to ranged and magic
6. Focus on heroes, melee, and monsters, avoid weak ranged and most of the cav units
7. Get port provinces over inland ones, ports are great for you!
8. Some building have factionwide boosts
9. Monster hunting is good but not at the expense of enemies invading you
10. Be aggressive in battle and campaign, your mechanics require it!

Just started a Wulfrik campaign... I thought I'd immediately declare war on all Norscans so they send their faction leader my way. Saves time walking.

@LordForwind Thanks! Though I'm playing it now and by turn 6 at least they're still happily recruiting... I did manage to get to two full stacks, and 3 provinces plus Dietershafen by this same turn 6. I got the second stack full because that leader (the southern one) was reinforcing a single lord that was recruiting, so I managed to catch his army at the edge of the battle map and scare it off, killing only half of each unit, and then he confederated, granting me three ports. overcast searing doom is great for that! This campaign is insanely fast! Let's see what turn 7 brings hahaha 😂

@@lifewithhonordiewithglory1835 Hmm a glory looting mechanic might be cool, sort of like a waghhhh, you have a set number of turns to get x amount of loot from raiding or sacking.

Give the troll king more trolls. Back in WH2 I thought giving them a herdstone mechanic like beastmen to stop the ai with money hacks just resettling what you raised as soon as you go to another area of the map. Also let the spread chaos corruption through osmosis like vampires and skaven. An issue with norsca is you are basically forced to over extend to stop enemies from resettling so having something like +1 local recruitment and unit rank per razed city surrounding the outpost would be great and help restore after a big loss, which ATM you basically can't do for 6 turns minimum

@@JackdotC yeah they need something more, maybe they should have a knock off headstone that stops colonization for order factions unless chaos corruption is below like 40%

In my first and only playhrough I got lucky - Wulfrik unified most of the area, then declared war on me just in time for my first ice-troll doomstack, invaded and immediately lost to my abumsh.

Tbh I never played Norsca because I thought it was just bargain bin Chaos. Now that there is real chaos and no reason to be salty, maybe it’s worth giving them a fair shake

I can see why would think that but for me norsca has always been vikings with monsters and that beats the other chaos factions for me. 😅

Norsca is the only campaign that I cannot get very far. Just an absolute ass-kicking from every faction surrounding the Norscan lands. I'll try again with these tips in mind. I really like Norsca thematically, especially their monsters who look and feel amazing to use. But their economy's reliance on ports that can be demolished in a second really hinders me.

They might be one of the worst campaigns, an early game faction in a game where the early game ends in like 30-40 turns

I had the same experience. It was one of those campaigns where every time I started to go in one direction, some dickhead would hit me from the other direction and I was constantly having to turn around and go back and it took forever to get anywhere. I wanted to do all of the monster hunts but I ended up quitting as soon as I got a Short Victory because it was such an annoying campaign and the last monster hunt I got was all the way down by the Wood Elves and I couldn't be bothered to trek that far. I think their problem is that they were originally a horde faction but got changed in TWW3 and they didn't really adapt them well. They were supposed to get a rework but who knows when or if that will actually happen.
