I love how they visited 3 countries but have generalized the entire region IoI In Brazil you can buy basically everything with a card or virtually paying directly from your account, even small grocery shopping, and even in small cities with less then 50k population there're delivery services for groceries and medicine. About the water I would trust more drinking tap water in Argentina or Brazil than in New York. Also, the experience in Argentina, Chile or Uruguay, compared to Peru or Ecuador is totally different. This is like visiting Thailand and then saying that you know how Indonesians or Malayans live, when their cultures and way of life are different and cannot be generalized in the same package.

I travelled all over SA for 4 years. Often used taxis....I rarely had any problem. The drivers are the best source of local info. They know everything...also, perfect people to practice Spanish....Do due diligence and check out the vibes.....Practice Spanish or Portuguese.

We were told No tipping in Ecuador though we did tip a little. But the locals prefer that you don’t tip as it raises the price for the locals.

Great video! Would love to know how you all plan trips out! Do you plan down to the hour or go with the flow?
@the-wandering-wings
@the-wandering-wings Жыл бұрын
Thank you! We are definitely go with the flow, especially with extended trips like this one. We found that things come up, we get suggestions from other people we meet, and that can throw off a schedule if everything is planned out! Can be costly too if you have to cancel things 🙂

Ho Dear Lord…….. No, No, No you don’t…….. never generalize “when traveling to South America” you went to 3 of 12 countries and you indiscriminately threw everyone in your CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION, that’s not only unacceptable but FALSE INFORMATION, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru DO NOT MAKE UP “SOUTH AMERICA”, it’s an insult to the rest of the countries, it’s like me giving that same opinion about Europe after visiting Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, the rest of Europe would be enraged by me generalizing after reading my findings. You need to visit: Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil and I suggest forget most of your previous “Observations” and review the one about Peru, I’ve been in every single trail in their parks and I don’t remember being concerned about “getting lost”, the last thing they need is a tourist getting “lost” I can assure you, after 43 years working in the airline industry in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil NEVER had an issue flushing down the toilet a toilet paper and in most countries they do open up when they advertise it. Don’t quit your day job 👍 God Bless Latam all 12 Countries

Happy you enjoyed! We were there September - December and the weather was great! Started getting more rainy on the northern coast of Colombia in December, and what I've heard is that rainy season really kicks off between Jan - March.

wow, that are great tips! thanks! i am planing to spent 6 months in south america - from november 2023 on. but i am not sure if its better to travel from north to south or south to north. do you have recommendations?

@the-wandering-wings 11 ай бұрын
Happy you enjoyed the video! We traveled south to north - starting in Peru in September and ending in Colombia in December and loved the weather along the way, very temperate. If you plan to go way south, I would look into when the best time to visit there is! To avoid the winter and decide which way to go from there 🙂

Very bad information about tipping. I have lived in South America for the better part of 10 years mostly in Peru and Colombia and tipping is not the norm. Perhaps if you are in a very high tourist area you may encounter some tipping. In general tipping is not expected.
@the-wandering-wings
@the-wandering-wings Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! Before traveling there we looked online and saw multiple places that said it's generally expected to tip 10%, so that's what we did. May be geared more toward tourists, but regardless we didn't mind tipping the servers as we always had good customer service !
