Excellent tips! 15 minutes well spent :) Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. It may only be 15 minutes to watch, however I'm sure it took much more time to make, between getting your gear out, filming, then editing, I can easily imagine it took much longer than the resulting 15 minutes. When dealing with throw lines and not getting them stuck when pulling them up, let it run after pressure is released. This prevents the weight from being whipped around by a sudden stop which is where a lot of snagging and tangling problems come from in my experience. I've done something similar to the first one, only I used a sling and carabiner and choked the sling around a tree or pole. Another variation would be to put you back to your line with the bag in front of you and pull it over your shoulder into the bag. When doing this its important to be mindful of what your rope has been in recently. Poison ivy or dog poop would not be pleasant to rub into yourself. For Tip 2 a climbing saw works well. Definitely like the water bottle idea for sure! Especially for prunes where I will only need a chainsaw in a specific location later in the climb :)

Hey Bino, That trick of using a carabiner on your belt loop when stowing rope is genius! I used it several times today, and it's like having a third hand! The rope went in the bag 10x faster, and frustration was completely eliminated! Thanks for the tip/hack!!

Great video, thanks for the tips. Over the years I've struggled with using a throw ball (shot bag) to set my line. I've tried most everything, I have a first generation Big Shot, throwing the ball from under, over, sideways, like a baseball......you name it. I either miss or get the ball stuck. I've always sucked at it and I've been climbing for over twenty years. The other day I was flying a drone and I thought it might work well to accomplish this task. I'm giving it a try this week. I'm not the best climber, but I've been fortunate enough to work with some of the best the industry has to offer and have learned everything I can from them. Even a blind pig gets a kernel of corn every now and again ! Thanks again.

Yes the can work. There is a man named Nick Araya from Tree CareLa in a video he shows how he uses a drone on a palm tree to install the throw line. You're welcome!

Hey brother big fan I was just wondering what device is at the bottom of your rope wrench setup? And where to get one lol iv seen the dogbone rope wrench but that is basically a replacement for a regular rope wrench, it does look like Gordon’s work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

Yes it is, since that piece does not have to be rated I created it myself. You can create same effect with short tether and a Quickie. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/laimh86emJurZYE.htmlsi=yTcweqghOoUPcbTO

I wasn't questioning your knowledge or credentials. I also said that Double Fisherman is perfectly accurate, but that Poachers knot is the original name. The ONLY constructive criticism I made was that you called the Double Fisherman loop a bend twice in your video. It 100% is NOT a bend. I was trying to be helpful, and in no way do you need to defend yourself. Just don't call it a bend anymore unless you're referring to the Double Fisherman bend, which connects two ropes together. Also, a Scaffold knot is different. It's a Double Fisherman with three wraps.
@BinoH
@BinoH 22 күн бұрын
Glad the throw line helped. Yes in tree care it is called the Double Fisherman's, Double Fisherman's bend or sometimes loop in other trades it's called Scaffold knot and Poachers knot. Since my channel is about proper tree climbing I use the more proper terms. Look into the International Society of Arboriculture Certified Tree worker exam and you will see the proper terms being used. I do know proper tree climbing techiuques I am an ISA Certified Tree worker and ISA Certified Tree Worker Evaluator, I've been in tree care for more than 30+ years in the Private sector for 18 1/2 years and Municipal sector for 24 years.

What surprises me is that you're making a comment and telling me that I shouldn't refer to it a certain way but You've worked on creating a hitch and are telling the public that it is a good hitch to use but you used a Sheet Bend as life support on the hitch. That Synergy hitch in the way you've tied will get someone hurt. You ought to be careful about what you create and put out.
@Knot-orious
@Knot-orious 19 күн бұрын
@@BinoH You're responding as if what I'm telling you isn't accurate, even though it is. I say in my video that a normal sheet bend is less than ideal and that a double sheet bend should be used, or a Hunter's bend. I was comfortable using a sheet bend for my demo, for myself. I never suggested anyone climb that way. I was showing my personal setup for a quick test. You really don't take constructive criticism very well. I was trying to be helpful -- and even started out by complimenting your video -- and now you've gone out of your way to find something to criticize about one of my videos. That's pretty petty of you, Bino. We all make mistakes and get corrected sometimes. You're taking my innocent, positive, helpful correction way too personally. I just wanted to help ensure you used correct terms in your videos because I cared about you and your content. Big mistake. Last time I comment on one of your videos. Also, the SYNERGY hitch is an excellent hitch. If you watch my two other videos where I demo how to tie it, the sheet bend has nothing to do with the hitch. It's don't think you're used to getting corrected very often. You'd be wise to just say, "yeah, you're right. Thanks for pointing this out" next time.
