The solution to the puzzle: Mate in 4. 1. Qh8+, Kxh8 is forced 2. g7+, Kg8 is forced 3. Bh7+, either Kf7 or Kxh7 (they are the only legal moves) 4. g8 = Q# is a stunning checkmate.

I comment rarely but ...... well I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your excellent productions. I owe all my knowledge of this game mostly to you and few other KZfaq channels. For a student like me who cannot afford to buy many books it is really a blessing to see ( and learn) the game so beautifully. The way you bring the game to life is unmistakable. Please don't stop. Will become a member whenever I can. Thank you. God bless you.

You have to learn many more openings and tactics, not everything will go as planned. And at the Grandmaster level Vienna Counter-Attack is common and can be prevented easily. So don't stick to it only. Have fun and explore the world of chess!

The solution to the puzzle is: (W) Qh8 check, (B) takes with king on h8, since there is no other move, (W) pawn to g8 check, (B) king moves to g8, again no other possible move, (W) bishop to h7 check. Now (B) has only 2 options, either king takes on h7, or king moves to f7 and whichever move he plays, (W) wins the game by playing pawn to g8 and converting to a queen.

Many thanks for this terrific video! Very helpful. I have a question please. 8:52 : I already reached that position after my opponent had played Kf8 in response to Qg4. Unfortunately it looks that the Queen is not definitely trapped. If he plays Bb6 then c3 doesn't work : he can play Qc7 and then escape (the position is still in favor of whites). This Bb6 not only allows the Queen to escape, but it also prevents Nc7.
