I feel like The Others is a film that is incredibly underrated. Although it had great reviews, people don't seem to talk about it much. Yes, it isn't that scary as far as horror films go, but it is incredibly intriguing throughout. The murder of Sylvia Likens is one of the most horrifying stories I've ever heard. Quite honestly, the woman who killed her should have been put to death. I don't know how anyone could do what she did to another person.
@abebuckingham81984 жыл бұрын
When I look up "true" horror I expect to see the film has portrayed a highly sensationalized version of the crime to attract viewers. To see that exactly the opposite was the case with the murder of Sylvia Likens was truly chilling, a crime so heinous the censor would never allow it to be depicted accurately in film. So many people ignored her pleas for help, multiple children were accomplices, the scale of the torture and the manner of death, unforgettable.

Ah, one of my favorite movies, The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Every now and then, I either watch this movie or just go to KZfaq and watch clips. From what I can recall, Jenifer Carpenter/Emily Rose, does all that body contortion all on her own. It's great when an actor gives it her all and then some. I think the church scene is I most creepy for me for four reasons, one, she's in a church and still being tormented, two, the boyfriend is witnessing it. And three, the close up of her face and eyes as she's, four, contorting her body minus any CGI. BTW, another actor who can contort his body naturally, is Bill Skarsgard. He's the clown in the remake of IT. The scene where he is in the icebox all twisted up, he did that all on his own, they only attached a wire to his foot so he could pop out like he did. Also, Exorcisms and Clowns scare the shit outta me, BUT I AM IN LOVE WITH BOTH OF THESE MOVIES... lol

In all fairness, I love the genre too and I've never seen any of these.

Anyone ever seen a movie called DOLLS? I watched it when I was VERY VERY YOUNG. Fucked me up real bad, to the point that if I bumped or dropped one of my dolls, I would immediately pick it up any apologize profusely. I never broke a toy or left one dragging to be kicked or stepped on. No one touched my dolls but me. Even beat my sisters ass once cause she stomped my purple teddy bear I got from the fair when I was 6, that I still have even now at 40 years old...

A good list... a list that I would add the following to. The Collector Laid to Rest The Hills Run Red Orphan Deadgirl The Covenant Frailty Vacancy Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

I was going to recommend German Slasher flick School's Out, but it was released in 1999.

You should do a list of gems from the 2010s

The director of the highwaymen did not invent the roadside horror genre. Alex kempar did. He was the real life serial killer the hitcher is based on.

The woods is such a good movie! I hate that people don't know more about it.

I'd argue that 2010 Die was a new take on the Saw portion of tense horror movies that made you get squirmy during certain games that were being played. Another one I personally enjoyed was Would You Rather? Based off the board game of the same name, this has a nasty horror twist on the harmless question.

Funny how's the "new wave of French horror" was recognized as such everywhere except in France… And the movie's distribution was generally botched.

The Girl Next Door is a well-made film but it's incredibly difficult to watch. Few films genuinely disturb me but this one did.

The Girl Next Door is one of those movies I never want to see again. The torture scenes on top of knowing it's based on an actual event. nopenopenope

I highly recommend Trouble Every Day. (Not sure of the release year...) Not many films have a "death by cunnilingus" scene!
