If they were solved earlier, they would just be "mysteries that took really long to solve". If they were solved later than 2014, their solution would have not quite be confirmed by the time this video was made (of course, some of those solutions still aren't or may never be confirmed).

+logan kerr "Early settlers on Nikumaroro tell of an airplane wreck seen in 1940, long before any possibility of WWII activity. The wreckage is said to have been located on the reef near "where the waves break" and just north of the shipwreck. Gallagher found bones in 1940 and corresponded by radio with Tarawa Atoll. He reported at first that natives had discovered a human skull "just possibly that of Aemelia Earhart." He was asked by the Western Pacific High Commission to keep the information secret and to see what else he could find out. He next reported: Thorough search has now produced more bones (including lower jaw) part of a shoe a bottle and a sextant box. It would appear that: (a) Skeleton is possibly that of a woman, (b) Shoe was a woman's and probably size 10, (c) Sextant box has two numbers on it... 3500 (stenciled) and 1542- sextant being old fashioned and probably painted over with black enamel. The bones found on the island by Gallagher and sent by him to Figi were intercepted and analyzed by Dr. Lindsay Isaac of Tawara in an unauthorized examination. With unknown methods, he concluded that the bones were from an elderly Polynesian male. The bones went on to their proper destination on Figi. They were analyzed in 1941 by Dr. D.W. Hoodless. He concluded that the incomplete skeleton was most likely that of a short, stocky European (or half-caste), and definitely a male. He recorded his measurements and observations, and his handwritten notes survive. Reanalysis in 1997 by TIGHAR, using Dr. Hoodless's measurements and observations but applying modern forensic methods, came up with different conclusions. They concluded that the skeleton was: more likely female than male more likely white than Polynesian or other Pacific Islander most likely between 5'5" and 5'9" in height In short, consistent with Aemelia Earhart. But there is a low level of certainty."

Um, the Mary Celeste theory is one of several that are only speculation. It is impossible to accurately claim that an alcohol explosion was responsible for the evacuation of the crew, and the fact that the log- almost always evacuated with the ship- was left behind and showed no record of any damage to the vessel or attempt at damage control leaves a gap in this theory. The crew had time to launch a lifeboat, but apparently not time to grab a log book? No maritime investigation has ever explained this inconsistency. Sailors are well trained personnel largely not given to panic. Especially during shipboard fire control (even on wooden ships), every sailor has a task, and typically the Officer of the Watch (in modern military vessels typically the Officer of the Deck or OOD) has the task of securing the log. In conclusion: 1. If there was time to launch a lifeboat, there was time to secure the log. It wouldn't have been found on the vessel. 2. If there was time to launch the lifeboat, there was time to initiate damage control/fire control procedures. None of this was done. 3. If there was time to launch a lifeboat and initiate some kind of damage control, there was time to notate this in the log, i.e.: "2213Z, Fire rptd. Main space. Condition Z set. Prep. LB for launch." Source: 19 years, United States Coast Guard. The Mary Celeste remains an enduring mystery. My personal belief is that the crew knew that one day Kanye West would exist, and simply jumped overboard in despair.

So give the yank a break. On the positive side, "cheers" flows from my mouth naturally now, and I no longer look at people in a quizzical and bemused manner when they ask me if "I'm alright" !!! UPDATE: A month ago the Terror was found! John Franklin's expedition's second ship, the HMS Terror, was discovered in Terror Bay in the Northwest Passage of the Arctic, by a research vessel, guided by an Inuit man, Sammy Kogvik, 49, of Gjoa Haven. It was discovered in pristine condition, suggesting the ship sank gently to the seafloor. Even most of it's windows are still intact. Seven years earlier, while ice fishing on snowmobiles, Sammy had found the ship's mast sticking out of the ice and had asked his friend to take a photo of him giving the mast a 'bear hug'. But, on their return home, the camera slipped out of his pocket, and when a year later his friend died in an accident, he took it as an omen of bad spirits and decided not to tell his tale, especially given he was unlikely to be believed (many now-accurate Inuit stories of the expeditions were discounted as being 'unreliable'). But, given the research vessel's crew were welcoming of Inuit testimony, Sammy was able to tell his story, much to the gratitude of the crew, and within hours of beginning the search, the Terror was found. See: www.macleans.ca/news/canada/how-trust-led-to-hms-terror/

The pyramids by aliens? Am I the only one who knew that they were built by slaves, for like, ever?
@TheSilentmilitia
@TheSilentmilitia 8 жыл бұрын
That's what everyone thought for a long time but recent evidence has shown that the pyramids were built by skilled workers who were paid. The myth of slaves building them was hypothesised by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus and perpetuated by hollywood and popular literature. In all honesty thats where I thought this video was going with this point.

The Marvel comic writers were unfamiliar with Russian naming conventions. Her name should be Natasha Romanova, not Romanov, as last names, as well as first names, are gender specific in Russian. They also use patronymics, which are middle names they inherit from their fathers, that are exchanged and used in formal discourse as opposed to last names. Black Widow is certainly not Russian in any sense. Nor are most Russian characters in American cinema and media.

I read 2 of the stories: The Franklin Expedition and the What Happened To Anastasia; from the bizarre endings book from (i forgot). For the Anastasia one, you forgot to mention how one person claimed to be Anastasia for years until after her death when researchers discovered the remains. For the Franklin expedition, you didn't mention what the expedition was for (I don't think), or if people did find the Northern Passage. Yes, researchers did find the Northern Passage, but it was too iced out to be used. There's a lot more to a story, you just have to search for it.

I am almost crying in joy. I have liked and favorited this video. Thank you for using the CE (common era) term. And thank you for compiling a list of many "unsolved mysteries" people love to use to argue about aliens/ghosts other stuff that is largely illogical and nonexistent. From now on, whenever someone argues with me on that, I am sending them the link to this video. TY!

What about the theory that the Egyptians used the annual flooding of the Nile to move the stones from the quarry to the location of the pyramids? The boundary of the flooded state of the Nile was right next to the pyramids and in close proximity to the quarry that they used.

The pyramids were built from the top and then down and scientists have already proved this. Getting the blocks from part to the other is a mystery in itself, but not really as much of a mystery as to HOW they were built. Such as.... HOW did they pull the blocks up to the top of the pyramids (provided they were actually built starting from the bottom)? Did they use sleds on wet sand? lol

They found A body. it was thought not to be hers. But since there has been the discovery on a completely different island of evidence of a man and a woman having lived there (thought to possibly be Amelia and co-pilot) with other items that would have matched what could have been on the plane. The video doesn't show the actual solved mysteries, it just shows suspected theories that could be the answer

+AwesomeGuy The most prevalent theory is that the crew temporarily abandoned the ship due to the alcohol fumes, but that the halyard holding the ship's boats to the Celeste snapped and the ship (hastily abandoned and with the sails still set) moved out of reach too quickly for the crew to rejoin her, leaving them adrift. Supposedly there's an account of two lifeboats washing up on the Spanish coast about a month after the last log entry with some dead bodies aboard and an American flag, but being in an advanced state of decomposition, the locals buried them quickly.

Jack McCullough was released from prison last month after serving three years in jail, because it was somehow proven he could not have been at the location where little Maria was abducted. Very sad, how his own mother thought he could have been the killer, and that the murder may remain unsolved.

2:17 That's not entirely accurate. The stones actually sit in pond bed that's dry most of the year. But when the pond does have water in it, it tends to be shallow enough where the tops of the rock sit above the surface. The water freezes at night, then in the early morning it breaks up in the sun. The tops of the rocks are then pushed by huge sheets of ice as they glide across the water, pushed by the wind. The conditions for this are apparently so exact, that it's considered a "Goldilocks scenario". Which would explain way this hasn't really been observed anywhere else in the world.

Furthermore, the Mary Celeste baffles me. There were experts back in the 80's saying that the alcohols potential of exploding was the most logical reason for the abandonment of the ship. It took them another 20 years to agree on this? All the evidence clearly points to this conclusion, always has. From the 10 days of rough seas due to storms, the open hatches (left open to allow the fumes to vent) to the long rope tied to the mast hanging off the back of the ship (meant as a teather).

+Rizzo Basiliere For me it is extremely plausible, having been at sea for a while. We usually leave the tender boat at sea and we tow it with a rope, and it happened one time the rope broke (I managed to recover the tender).

I speculated that Amelia earheart crashed in the sea and used the remains of her plane and an underwater cave and caught seafood to survive. After years of living in her cave, she made her final diary entry and with a sharpened piece of the cave, killed herself with it.

From the Guardian about the highly alleged "finding" of Earhart's plane. "Objectors immediately pointed out that he had not checked the fragment’s rivets, which did not match Earhart’s Electra. Now, 22 years later, the photo could indeed explain the discrepancy - but Gillespie still lacks a wreck to compare the pattern to. As a substitute, Gillespie’s team went to a Kansas facility that’s restoring an Electra and claims to have found - by holding the patch up alongside the restored plane - that the rivets seemed consistent with the pattern. No independent researchers have confirmed their findings."
