Many thanks. What you mean when booking „on board“? Do I have to book during the cruise on the ship of specific cruise line??

Hello and thanks for the question. Yes if you want the extra special discounts. However, definitely not to incorporate the bulk of the strategies but to stack this one extra layer yes. For example we are on a Royal Caribbean ship right now - and I booked a cruise for later in 2025. They gave us a sharply lower deposit (something like $99 vs $300) and an extra onboard credit.

Great video. This will be my first cruise. Booked a short one through Chase Portal, to get my points, but how would I "give" this booking to my travel agent if I already booked it? Thank you! Utopia Nov 2024

Normally in this case you are using Chase as your travel agent -- typically you cannot then assign it to another travel agent as well. Have a great time on the cruise - sparkling new ship!

Thanks for the video! My wife and I are American retirees. We have a house in southern Italy. We spend 1/2 year here and the other half in America. We have booked our first repositioning cruise from Lisbon to Miami this October. We plan to use cruise instead of airline since we both are in mid 60s and traveling with airline is difficult for us. We used a travel agent to book this cruise but we are not happy with him. Can you introduce us to your travel agent? .We will do all the leg work and research you shared with us before turing our reservation to the agent. Thanks in advance for your help and tips. Last time I booked onboard Royal, we found a better deal once we got home and had to call and get the better deal! It was a horrible experience.

Sorry that happened. We use a cruise specialist agent so anything like that we just have her call and deal with it. One of the benefits.

We do not book "on board" any cruise line any more. Several times it wasnt "the best" deal we could get. Looking things up at home we could have done better without them. (on our own) We are Europeans, living in Europe - maybe it is different for other countries.

It definitely is possible. Keep in mind that you can almost always combine the onboard offer with any other offers. That's what we do in order to get both together.
