_________________________________________________
** I've had several requests to post this video without the background music. Thanks for the feedback! **
Correction: I made a mistake in the section on the three words for love and said that “philo” was the Greek word used in the 1 Corinthians passage. The word used here is actually “agape.” I apologize. Thank you to those who caught this mistake.
Does Jesus tell us that the poor will be blessed?
Should couples remember that love is patient and kind?
Is Sunday supposed to be a day of rest or a day of worship?
What if some of the things we thought we understood about the Bible actually weren't true?
What if it was saying something very different than what we thought it was saying?
This week, we're going to look at 10 words that will forever change the way you read and understand scripture.
Thanks for watching!

Quick correction: in 1 Corinthians 13 where Paul is saying “Love is patient, love is kind,” etc. the Greek word is actually Agapē. So he’s literally describing God Himself. Because 1 John 4:16 says that God IS actually Agapē. So what you said about it sort of still applies: this passage is not necessarily the best for weddings, as it is not talking about the love between a husband and a wife, but rather the characteristics of God Himself. This love is impossible for humans to demonstrate apart from the Spirit of God doing it through them. The only way for a husband and wife to be able to show this kind of love to each other is if they have God Himself in them and working through them.

This is just me, but I have always looked at praise as what we do when we come together as a church. We sing, read the word, thank God for his blessings etc. Worship is what we do in our life style that brings glory to God. We treat each other right, we forgive, we are kind, etc. This is worship. That’s my two cents.

I'll never forget when I was 12 years old after a bible lesson, on the way home from church that night I asked my mom what was meant by Adam "knowing" Eve. That led to my first sex talk. That later led to me studying the bible completely differently, for the first time understanding that what SEEMS plain at first glance when reading the bible on its surface actually often means something completely different. This is why now when I discuss the bible with others I go right to the meaning of the WORDS before I talk about interpretation. But even that is fraught with difficulty, because depending on your audience's level of education and MOST importantly their desire to REALLY understand (rather than just wanting to argue) will determine whether you can have a rational discussion. It all boils down to whether God's Spirit is working in their minds to effect a change. Nothing you say can make a difference to someone who isn't being worked with by the Holy Spirit.

You’re right about the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately many try to understand through their own knowledge leaving out humbleness and complete surrender of themselves to God so that he may work in them and teach them. It’s surprising to realize how many church leaders preach about God and yet don’t know him and now I get why Jesus will say to some I don’t know you. (Pharisees) these people go to schools to learn theology to have a better understanding of God through other theologians instead of going directly to the source.

I think Cain & Able were twins with different fathers, & that the icky fruit was Satan. Abels dad was Adam. Happens a lot more often than people know (women pg w/twins from different men). I mean, reading the word is eye opening, learning the essence of the stories, being inspired by the Holy Spirit is Vital to getting as much out of it as is available. Blessings to you brother 😎🙏✝️

I think it’s because the first two times Jesus asked Peter if he loved him, he used the word agapeo, but the third time he used the word phileo, which was a friendship form of love… It’s interesting though, Peter responded with phileo all three times and never agapeo… so… not sure what that was about. It almost looks like, “Do you love me unconditionally?” “Lord, I love you… as a friend!” 🤪

It always cracks me up, when people look up Greek and Hebrew words, and than think that they have a better understanding of how to translate the Bible into our language, better than the hundreds of scholars that not only read all the ancient transcripts, but also read all the secular writings of that time, to figure what context each word was used in, during the time it was written.

You're not open minded enough to listen, though? I do not feel slighted in the least. I've been studying the Bible since 9 years old and really enjoyed it. He said nothing that took away meaning. It all enriched meaning. This video. I cannot vouch for any other. But you could learn the then/than rule to help your writing. Does that change your message you just wrote where you complain to understand this rule? No, it doesn't. Learn just to learn. It won't kill you. You have a filter, apparently. Yes?

@Olympics 1234567, you crack up ? This is neither the time or place to be cracking up amongst serious and even hurting people. Furthermore scholars have much more to do than to make big issues over words or even a single word. Every scholar has an opinion and at times opinions conflict. I find nothing funny or comical about that. Thankfully we have resources that we can reference in debate, debating is an orderly form of argument but much is learned as such debates are not chaotic, arguments are ! A debate about a single word can bring out knowledge of many other areas of scholarly interest and is therefore an opportunity for teaching and learning. I hope you understand the gravity now that I have explained it. Furthermore, the Holy Bible deserves every bit of attention it gets from vast multitudes of people for it is the most important communication from God to man that has ever existed. So while you laugh consider these things. There is far more that you need to consider as well !

Stand firm Karen. Your toughest spiritual test will be in the next few months. A lot of denominations teach that it will be "rainbows and joy" from here on out, but be prepared if it's not. Satan and his minions aren't concerned with unbelievers. They ARE concerned about new Christians. Get ready and buckle up. Your faith will be tested. Fear not, though. You have the best insurance policy in the world, but it will be tested. If you stumble, like we all do, don't be discouraged or afraid. You might even suffer for your faith in the future, especially the way the world has been going lately. Above all, KEEP the faith. I would encourage you to read The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis. May God bless and keep You.

Non-relgious people can often be more loving, caring and understanding than are religious people. Not all atheists are bastards. 'Bastards' are people who have been born outside wedlock. Sadly. it is often a misused word. Best wishes.

Dear Greg, Thank you for bringing up the Sabbath error that western tradition brings. Sabbath is truly from Friday night to Saturday night and not Sunday. This confusion began with Constantine the Great with an edict requiring no work on Sunday and the suppression of Sabbath rest in the early fourth century (he was a worshipper of B Helios the sun God). Jesus met with his disciples on the first day of the week (probably just after Sabbath ended "Saturday night") as did many rabbis teaching disciples. So Sunday meetings became the day for study and with Western time, the meetings were held in the morning rather than Saturday night (the first day of the week: evening and morning, the first day). The Sabbath became confused with the meetings with Christ and thus Sunday became the western Christian sabbath because of the ignorance of scripture and demonic deception. But remember what Paul the Apostle to the gentiles wrote in 1Cornit

Shabbat shalom Nina - also to Brandon Robbins. Knowing the full meanings of biblical words from the original languages is indeed very important for all who love The Almighty One, so it is good to hear such teachings where others may gain in Hebraic understanding.Thank you Brandon. However, several things mentioned in the video are disappointing which reveal the teachings of man, rather than what The Bible teaches. i.e. Sunday as “the sabbath” This is not biblical, no matter how many NT scriptures can be turned to “suit ones opinion or doctrine”. We all need to be aware that if we love Our Creator we are to keep His commands, including the 4th Command which is setting apart and resting on Shabbat. Sunday was always the first day of the week and placed on only some modern calendars as the 7th day. The Catholic Church freely confesses that Sunday “worship” was established by it, and articles published wherein they are baffled at “Protestants” following their lead and not keeping The Sabbath Day as is the “custom of the Jews” as they put it. (Sadly, there are also many pagan influences remaining in Christianity, including Easter - do the research!). Many Christian brethren are unaware that their Saviour is Jewish (Yeshua Ha Maschiac) and the anglicised name, Jesus is only about 400+ years old. The Bible teaches He came first to The Jews, and then to the nations. We follow the Jewish Messiah, who is spoken of throughout the Tenach, it is not a matter of Jews becoming “Christians”. There is only One who died for our sins at Calvary, who conquered death on our behalf so we may be reconciled to Our True Father and Creator. Whether Jew or of The Nations, we are to be One in Messiah (Yeshua/Yehoshua/ Yahshua…..). True “worship” is obedience ; out of which develops a heart of praise and thanksgiving…..and as it is written, “He dwells in the praises of His people”. Yeshua said “You shall know the Truth and The Truth shall set you free”. He is The Way, The Truth and The Life - and He said “Come, follow Me”. His instructions are found in The full Bible.
