I vaguely remember a match on a European tour - in Italy I think - where Edge & Christian had a handicap match with Cena(or maybe his partner 'got jumped backstage before the match'). It was during one of Cena's superman face pushes and he was supposed to get beaten down before doing the big comeback but the Italian crowd were on Cena's back the whole time.There was a point where his facial expressions show Edge suddenly realising that the crowd were cheering them and you could almost see the shift in the match. It turned into a longer, more drawn out beatdown with them working the crowd between spots. Cena still won but the combination of E&C toying with Cena and playing the crowd and Cena's selling work made it an entertaining match.

Re: Valentines Day Massacre'99. I always thought it was a 'work' because it made sense. You needed Austin to win and Paul Wight to look good which was exactly how this took place. Vince told Paul to throw Austin to each side and I think it was the last where the cage gave in. When I left the bar I watched the show at that night I thought "That makes sense that they intentionally make that side of the cage intentionally half assed assembled to ensure that kind of force would bring that result." I should check some of Austin's podcast on that one. I was at the Monday Night Raw go home show six nights before this and a random fan sitting beside me during the "Shotgun" taping said "The Giant from wcw is coming tonight". He never did, but sure as heck came six nights later. That Raw is the largest in history with over 40,000 in attendece and was a great show with Austin getting the start, middle and final segments.

No way the Wight-Austin finish was botched. While I agree that it’s dumb to debut Big Show only to have him accidentally help SCSA win the match, remember the very next night Show lost to Austin. So a lot of the booking didn’t make sense back then

Of course McMahon/Austin was planned. Big Show came out and destroyed Austin, the only reason Austin won is because McMahon kept telling Show to throw him again and again, thus leading Show to forget his own Strength and throw Austin through the cage wall allowing him to win. So Big Shows debut shows him being Stronger than even he realizes, Austin barely escapes with the win, and McMahon loses because of his own hatred towards Austin. I mean...what alternative scenario could there have been? this was for the Title shot at Wrestlemania, Austin kind of had to win this match so what would you suppose the "scripted" finish was going to be?

I remember one time at a SD taping back around 2010, a six man tag match ending was so botched they literally brought everyone back out to the ring two matches later and retapped the whole ending. Everyone was like wtf. The match had big stars in it too. I think it was Kane, Big Daddy V and MVP vs Shelton Benjamin, CM-Punk and Rey Mysterio.
