The result was very good, I personally believe that faded trim is one of the give away signs of a ageing vehicle, making it look darker and more factory fresh, certainly lifts the appearance of the whole finish.

I'm impressed by the restoration, products, and techniques. But my favorite parts of your videos are the narration, sounds of the brushes, sprays, and wipes, and the hints of the background noises (birds, other vehicles passing by) in between narration. Your videos are always very calming, yet entertaining and informative!

I think I've posted something similar before - but just wanted to say how much I appreciate how "real world" your videos are - most other detailing channels they are using tens of thousands of dollars of hoists, protected from the weather by fancy garages and so on - and in the real world almost NONE of us have access to that kind of stuff. It's way more inspiring to get out there and try some of this when you see how much can be done in your own yard with just quality tools and products (and products that anyone can get hold of easily too!), and plenty of elbow grease.

Definitely worth the effort of doing the black trim on cars. I wonder how it stands up against solution finish. I find the round make up pads and cotton buds are great for the fiddly bits, ie, around mirrors and grills. Another great video Joe.

It's amazing the difference tidying up the small parts makes to the overall look of the vehicle, I've heard and seen some other detailers on the plastic trim just use a heat gun in order to slightly melt the plastic to restore it back to its original finish as this is supposedly melting out some of the oils and replacing the stuff that has dried off over the years, I personally think I'd prefer the apply a product option myself though.

Great work and video...and yes, it definitely gives the look of the car a huge improvement over faded plastics....but as others have said, durability and longevity are key with these products.....another main brand bumper gel looks great when applied, but once it gets wet, just runs off and streaks. I always used to find these products, even when buffed off, ended up on wash mitts when washing and seem to dissolve the suds in the wash bucket.

A good result and a well constructed video, but there are two things I'd like to say. The 'glare' transition video effect you used between the 'before' and 'after' reveal shots towards the end of the video actually detracted from what you were trying to achieve. In my opinion, it would have been much better to not have employed any transition effect at all. The second thing is that nearly all of these kinds of products achieve a similar result but what really differentiates them is how long the 'back to black' effect lasts.

Do you find that every car detailing brand now including 'ceramic' or 'graphene' in all their products is starting to become a bit gimmicky?
@MD-gk4uh
@MD-gk4uh Жыл бұрын
It was ALWAYS just a gimmick. I mean it. Most of the "detailing products" is a gimmick, since you need it to mark up chemicals that are cheaper then the bottle it comes in. No, that is not a metaphor. Its like when you buy bottled water, you not really paying for that "water". Most chemicals are so cheap that if you were to pay what it is worth no one would bother selling it in small quantities cause they would spend more money packaging it, let alone delivering and keeping it on the shelf. This is why you dont see REAL chemical tests being done in detailing word. If I told you the "ceramic" coating is nothing else then clear coat customized for foam application by slowing down curing which allows self leveling as well as having more plasticity (simular to clear coats made for plastic parts) would you pay $100 for tiny bottle? Ceramic, silica and other naming is essentially anything you can think of. Grab a fist full of dirt and you have silica and ceramics. Its marketing to make you spend $20 for something that costs $0.02. No different than you paying $2 for a "specially filtered, mount everest" bottle of water, which often comes from a tap water in a city close to mountain...where people pay $0.01 a gallon LOL. Take for example the sprays that gives you the "water beating" property. They used to charge $20 to $50 when it came out. The detailing world took to it like bees to honey and you didn't see ONE honest review since they are all in to make money be it on product or youtube influence. First, you don't want water BEATING, you want SHEATHING. Cause a day after you apply it you car will start getting dirty and when it rains, that dirt and anything in the water itself will be concentrated in big drops that will dry out and leave behind a THICKER and much more visiable water spots that will be hard to clean without acid based cleaners. Sheathing will do the opposite. It will alow for water to flow away from the panels and to spread out in a even layer on flat parts. That will leave the contemenace way less visiable and because the layer is 100 times more thin, it will be removable by friction alone (hard rub). So why do they use it? Simple. The chemical they advertised to people is actually really cheap stuff that was sold to auto car wash stations. Why? Because on the end of the tunnel they have to dry out your car and they do that by using blowers. Now, have you ever used a compressed air to "blow water" away on a clean washed surface (no waxes or coatings)? Doesn't work, does it? Water loves to hold on to surface. So they had to "brake up" the ability of water to hold on to surface (this is why the water puls into droplets) so that it can than be "blown away" in wind tunnel. THAT IS IT! For decades, waxes have been formulated to do just the oposite - sheath! THAT is what you want on your perfectly detailed car that will see rain while it is standing still. Sorry for the long post, hope it helps.
