From The Joe Rogan Experience Episode # 1987 - Jelly Roll
• The Moment Jelly Roll ...
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He was born on December 4, 1986, in Nashville, Tennessee. Jelly Roll gained popularity in the hip-hop and rap scene for his emotionally raw lyrics and honest storytelling, often reflecting on his personal struggles with addiction, poverty, and relationships.
He started his musical career in the early 2000s and released several independent albums before gaining wider recognition. Jelly Roll's music combines elements of rap, country, rock, and blues, creating a unique style that resonates with a diverse audience. Some of his well-known songs include "Save Me," "Only," "I'm So High," and "Creature" among others.
Jelly Roll has collaborated with various artists in the music industry, including Lil Wyte, Tech N9ne, Struggle Jennings, and Ryan Upchurch. He continues to release new music, perform live shows, and has amassed a dedicated fan base. Jelly Roll's music often explores themes of redemption, personal growth, and resilience, making him relatable to many listeners.

I'm 57. Heard my youngest Son, 24, listening to "Son Of A Sinner". I went into his room & asked, "Who in the heck is That?" He told me. Had never heard of him. Love his music, lyrics, voice & what he gives back. Then I saw him in the Congressional or Senate Hearings, I forget which one. What he had to say was heartwrenching & moving. Redemption is a beautiful thing. Much respect & prayers for him & his family. ❣☮🙏🏻✝️

You have taken all your experiences “although horribly negative” and turned them ALL to the GOOD!!! You are using them to show others the errors of their ways and what they can do to turn their life fe around BEFORE they go the road you did. With THIS YOU are one of GODS greatest TOOLS. He’s working through YOU!! You were “chosen” and had to have the training to be able to handle it all. ❤you are amazing. Do NOT let Gid Almighty down ….. he’s counting on you and has given you forgiveness, and opportunity. God bless. 😊

@@kandeeparker3622 To each their own😁 Jelly Roll is definitely worth the listen in both genres depending on how far back you go in his discography. But his country will have to grow on me, as I stopped listening to radio country MANY years ago… I lean more towards the dark/goth country more. With how much I loved The Charlie Daniel’s Band- Legend of Wooly Swamp, that feeling and mental imagery was so cool to me. I can’t get that with radio country, it’s far too bland, overdone, copy and paste. The ‘newest’ country song I actually enjoyed was Keith Urban- For You, because it was a beautiful song created for the movie, Act of Valor, which was an incredible movie

He got lucky!! Who knows what would have happened had he not been in the right place at the right time or met the right people at the right time. I know quite a few guys with equal too or more talent than Jelly Roll and have not made it. I’m not taking nothing from the man he got his and more power to him. However being successful in the entertainment biz is actually just being entertaining of course and being in the right place and around the right people. Sometimes that don’t even get you to the top. 30 years ago he wouldn’t have made it. Hell 15 years ago he might not have made it
@wildamerican2771

What’s even more amazing is regular people who do the right thing and never fuck around like he did. He DID get lucky with the music, because most people like him end up dead before they’re 40. People love a story about redemption, sadly way more than they love a story about lifelong righteousness. It’s like you need to prove to people that you can conquer demons after you let them rape and pillage your soul.

@@MrOutPerform not directly no. most crimes are based on poverty which is driven by the economic state of the society which is controlled and managed by the politicians. So when a broke mf decides to rob another broke mf all that could have been solved if we had a rich society that could support everyone. if one man is left out then that man has no choice than to forcefully take from his neighbor and then the neighbor is given no choice but to take from another and that cycle continues. not only is there not enough to go around but these same politicians hoard as much currency as they can and keep it from the masses. then they force us to pay for their next supercar and 3rd vacation house. all the while most of us who actually work to make the money that these politicians play with cant even barely afford our own home without 30 years of hard work and saving.

Being wealthy doesn't exclude you from having a conscience. The majority of people aren't on a podcast telling the world about it. They send checks to families, organizations, charities, and hundreds of other programs. Like I said, take a few minutes and look into it.

You have been thru it all. You know how to help the young ones before it’s too late to turn their lives around. Thank you for all you build and programs you have started to train them for new lives.

Thank you for helping Re-entry program individuals. I was an employment specialist for the homelessness with Corazon ministries, the majority of my clients were adults who recently were released from incarceration. They were excited and on fire to be out in society free from incarceration, to start anew! They had hope and dreams for a better life. But, they faced a huge disappointment they were unable to secure employment, without employment advantages they can’t support themselves legally. Where is the justice for the time they paid in jail. They suffer forever! This has to stop now, a person deserves a chance to become a better citizen. To be a tax payer, to own property. Period! Amen. Blessings to all people. 🙏

I’m not a fan of his music, and I don’t mean that as a bash towards him. I’m just a heavy metal fan, and not of the industrial variety. But, thank God for someone like this making it big and giving a voice to those who need it. Our system is fucking broken and we need more people like this sticking up for those who can’t defend themselves.

The thing I like about Jelly Roll the most is how humble he is. And the way he treats/interacts with his fans is something you rarely see now a days. And the simple fact he’s the only big man or woman star who didn’t go on the Hollywood ❄️❄️❄️🌬🌬🌬 diet to lose weight.

I have great respect for people.like Jelly..on the bottom but not staying there. Accepting responsibility for his actions. Honest to a fault. I am a 74 year old Irish woman with good family and lived always in great peaceful places. I know I am blessed however I have EMPATHY.. probably to much..this man moves me to tears, he is the voice of millions and everyday he walks a fine line with his sobriety. Yup, great respect....I wish the best for you Jelly, stay strong and put yourself first then help others, that's the way it works. P.S. didn't say I never did anything wrong, will say I never got caught. We are all sinners !!

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND being one myself.. 23yrs ago I got out of prison for the 2nd time. Have done nothing since until this Christmas eve and it's not a heinous crime but do to my record I might have to go back 15 to life. Pray the judge has compassion for an alcoholic feel off the wagon and had a single car accident. Just me and my car. You are a true, real life hero❤❤ Keep spreading the word, NO crime is worth it!!!
