I've been trying to get my dad's Golden and Silver Age collection (>3000 high grade books originally purchased by both him and his uncle) verified with a pedigree and it's quite a process. One group is satisfied and ready to certify it, while the two others are still unsure until they see each and every comic in person, which has been a big challenge with all the Covid fear. We had it all ready to happen last year, with the conservators set to come here and verify it and finalize the addition of the pedigree, but then the whole world turned upside-down. I feel confident that it WILL eventually happen, but my dad is getting on in years and his health is starting to become an issue, it's vital to me that he gets to be a part of it and receive recognition from the hobby that he's loved his entire life.

Hey Tom I said this many times most people who do not have the kind of money to buy any of the vintage anymore. Anyway I told you I am Bob in Connecticut and I gave up bartending 10 years ago because of comic books and they were still affordable. Remember because of you I realize my amazing fantasy 15 6.0 is worth $100,000 as of right now and I paid $4000 for that. I also got rid of most of my books because I’m never going back to work. But I also don’t want to get rid of my amazing fantasy 15 8.0 restored no trimming yes I only paid $450 years ago. I paid $10,500 for my Batman 15.0 restored. I paid $12,500 for my superman 15.0 restored no trimming yes some people said that’s definitely worth more than my amazing fantasy 15 6.0. And yes I only paid $300 for my X-Men 1 but that was years ago and it was not graded now it is graded it is 7.0 of course that’s $50,000 plus right now those books I don’t think I will ever sell.🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

So I'm just getting into collecting comics again and was never really big into the collecting side of it. But how would I be able to tell a 1st print from a 2nd print. Like a amazing spider man 361.

Below you will see a picture of a barcode; single issue barcodes tell you the issue, the printing, and the cover in the LAST 5 DIGITS of the code. ... The fifth and final number tells you the printing, with 1 meaning the issue is a first printing. This works on modern issues. For the issues that are virgin covers aka ones that don't say the comic title/issue number etc just the artwork. if you read the barcode it can tell you which issue # it is. If your not wanting to open them up to protect the value. For older books you must open up the book and look on like the 1st page towards the bottom says issue # and if its 1st print or not. Go to far back on issues 1st and 2nd print is not a thing. Barcode on my spawn universe says 00121 which means 1st issue 2nd variant 1st printing If your confused plenty of youtube videos on this.

@@Mr.Bonez2Go could be just its not a newstand, true believers (aka reprint) they say true believers right on the comic or possibly facsimile (aka reprint) that looks like the og copies scary i know. The facsimile give away is the price tag they sold for. Good thing the facsimiles price tags are 3.99 and not copy the og prices to fake us collectors out. Also i heard marvel tales is reprint of older tales.

One of the only modern age books that might still be affordable is still the first appearance of Gwen Stacy as spider Gwen 9.8 edge of spider verse 2 you might get lucky and get that for $1500. Of course you just had a video of the death of Gwen Stacy and that’s my favorite comic book yes I have amazing Spiderman 121 9.8 white pages I paid $3600. I know it just sold for about $9500.😧😧😧😧😧

Hopefully I’ll have every type of label in my collection someday I Doubt it though I have standard Blue but hopefully someday I’ll have Red Green yellow purple and Black and Gold and the labels with the characters at the top but I Doubt it I can only afford to submit to PGX for the moment

Question to the golden age guru: I have Marvel Mystery Comics #87 cgc 9.4 I bought raw in '85 and had graded in '11 and it's the highest graded tied with one other. Sent it in not knowing about clean and press at the time. What's it worth? Overstreet 9.2 values it at $2650.

there are a LOT of books in this collection. it is entirely possible after much of the auction has taken place and lots of money spent, you could grab a nice book under the radar, and get a great deal.
