Just got this guitar in the mail yesterday, and as a guitarist who’s been playing for 44 years, I’m pretty damn impressed by this thing. I stupidly traded my American made Telecaster for a 2019 Gibson Explorer, and have regretted it daily ever since. I picked this up to fill the void for my want of my Tele back, and I gotta say, for $70-80, it’s a damn good placeholder! I’m not crazy about the tuners, they’re a little stiff, but that neck feels really nice, and it’s about half the weight of the Telecaster, which is AWESOME! Highly recommended guitar for players at any level.

I love these types of guitars. I live full time out of an RV so I'm always looking for something to play that isn't going to break the bank and if I do break it, no big deal. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I do have higher end guitars, but they're kept in storage and not taken out on the road until we find out where we want to put down roots. I just got this exact model a couple of days ago. I do my own setups and everything that could be adjusted, I adjusted: Truss rod, bridge height, pickup height and intonation. Once I polished the frets (they were rough!) Changed strings to 10s and it plays pretty well. I knew I would have to do all that so it is ok, and if you don't have to pay someone to do it then it's worth the savings. One thing to note:. The pick guard will not come off without removing the neck, so if you want to upgrade the pickups, keep that in mind.

I like your way of thinking. Not all of us can,t buy a real high priced guitars. I later in life. When I was older I finely was able to buy My first Fender Telecaster. Guys like You know how hard it is to buy good guitars. Your great. Keep up the good work.

I been playing guitar over 48 years this guitar was fine didn't have adjust the trust rod didn't need a set up I changed the strings to Ernie ball nine that's strings same strings that were on it I like the nine for this guitar my gretsch streamliner I got from Amazon after I bought the telecaster had nine that's on it to I put the Ernie ball nines on that guitar also I like the nine guage they don't pull on the neck only my jazz guitar agile cool cat I have eleven guage strings on that one

I bought one to see about modding it. It has a great gloss finish if nothing else and looks great! The Chinese care mostly about how it looks, not the functionality of it, and they do a really good job of that! I'm going to switch out the electronics, bridge, nut, and tuners with Fender parts and see how it does. Hopefully the frets are spaced well and have decent metal. Heck, a Fender Tele body is going to cost you up to 4 times what this whole guitar costs! I have had expensive guitars but all the fun for me is setting up cheap guitars to see how good I can make them. Trust me, I've modded some low end guitars that play better than many expensive guitars I've bought in the past!

I bought the Monoprice Indio Ultra Tele for 99 dollars and I got a excellent softshell case and it was setup great with the rolled fretboard with the rosewood fretboard and it stays in tune. I haven't replaced the strings yet and it's butterscotch blonde! It's better than my Squire Bullet Strat HSS HT and the Bullet Tele.!

We are in a lucky time to be guitar players. The Holy Grail 1959 Gibson Les Paul was $300 or about $2,700 in today’s dollars This $100 Amazon guitar in 1959 money is only $11 Even a Silvertone from Sears in 1960 was $75 or $670 in today’s dollars I agree, better to get a Squire Tele and at a music shop they might do a basic setup for free if you ask.

I've got the Grote Tele (amazon) and other than the strings it came with (which I always change immediately) I didn't have to do much setup. Just a slight neck tweak and smoothing a couple fret ends. She's actually a fav of mine and I also own Dean, Epiphone, and Ibanez guitars.

What did you do to set it up? Lower the action a lot? Or level the frets? Cut the nut slots and lower the bridge? Mine came with the strings about 1/4" action, LOL!

My very first guitar is arriving on Monday. It's a bit more than this @ $309. It's a Yamaha Pacifica 112V. I enjoyed this review of a really inexpensive guitar. Kind of amazing the sound you can get out of a very cheap guitar.....and it's full sized. BTW, please get rid of the background slot machine sound.....kind of annoying. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the review!

I just got this in from Amazon yesterday..i had plans to just strip it and add better parts. The body is beautiful, the neck isn't bad..as would be expected it needs fret dressing. The bad is the neck pickup is just a piece of junk..i took off the tape around the copper winding and both lead wires were NOT soldered to a terminal..the copper pickup wires were soldered directly to the lead wires..so any little tug on the wire could very easily break it..i have not checked the bridge pickup but will figure its the same. The neck looks about 2mm too small for the neck pocket. I got this guitar for $74 because of a little ding in the body..the body IS beautiful..i will give them that. So i will replace everything except the pickguard, control plate and strap buttons, lol..I was not expecting much for what I paid..but never, ever have i seen pickups wired so freeking poorly!! imho..go with a used squire before you pay anything more than what i did for this guitar. It's a beauty to look at but pure garbage under the hood. OH YEAH..I forgot..i took off the pickup cover of the neck pickup to find a big gob of pretty thick plastic completely covering the 2 outside magnet poles...what??? sooooo thick i'm sure it would make the two e strings much weaker that the others..I am using this as a project and test body..imho, look elsewhere its garbage. Editing to add..they put a neck with a 56mm neck heel on a body with a 58mm neck pocket?????? Again..i was not expecting much..but this is grusome...

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the set up of a guitar is literally on screwing the neck and well the neck is unscrewed you can apply graphite to every contact area between the bridge and the nut it’s good for tuning and bending then replace your guitar neck to the guitar pocket this time with a spacer made out of business cards I usually only use the spacers as close to the body as I can under the neck as to not interfere with the neck screws that’s is the magic spot for most of my guitars the fine tuning is done with the Saddle

I love cheap guitars. New strings, nut, tuners, pickups then set up…most guitars will shine for under $500. I’ve had to set up $800 guitars and get new pickups so I decided a good cheap base is the best.

Just scooped one for 48 bucks. Plan on only using it for the body and hardware. Everything else will be replaced haha

I just bought one and it's amazing! I also have an Epiphone 1960 Tribute plus and let me tell u it's my go to guitar. it has Gibson yes, I said real Gibson 57 pickups in it stock, locking tuners, and much more. I bought a Gibson classic this year[ sent it back] this guitar blew it away and for under 1000 I think I paid like 900 for it.

Many of these cheap guitars come from the factory with loose screws in the tuners (tuner button screws and post bushings) and the strings ALWAYS suck (they use 9s). That's a given. These are good guitars to upgrade and mod - such as turning one into an Esquire (using the proper wiring, of course - not by just removing the neck pickup).

My main question i have man is do i need to buy new strings for it or buy new tune things cause from all the reviews I've seen staying in tune seems to be a problem and i just wasn't sure which it would be or both even?

After I bought the LYX telecaster a few months later l bought a gretsch streamliner from Amazon.o man 👍 it is beautiful great sound love it the gretsch and the telecaster are my two favorite guitars

Changed my pick guard from black to red tortoise shell and never had to remove the neck.

Ok, so for $110, I figured what the heck why not and ordered one. And boy does it play *rough* out of the box. I tightened the truss rod about a half turn (in quarter turn increments), lowered the bridge poles height, and pulled the bridge poles back a bit and it's playing better, but I'm not sure if I'd really play it that much to be honest. The strings it came with feel rough and actually dirtied up my fingers, which is kind of weird for a new guitar? I'm sure that after a thorough cleaning, more adjustments, and new strings, it'd play a bit better, but I'm with you on this one -- it's worth just spending another $100-$150 or so and getting a Squire that is already playable out of the box or off the wall from a reputable store.

Pick ups have a slightTele twang! It's to bright. But you would have to invest whitch is counter to the experiment

No it's fine the set up they will just mess it up I know I have that done on one of my other guitars it doesn't go out of tune just have to break it in and get name brand strings

just stretch the strings after put on new ones

pretty sure that's not how you strum a clean fender telecaster.

I can't make a guitar work that can't stay in tune. Like, it's junk. Even for a cheap guitar, it's junk. No stay in tune, no go.

Bottom of the barrel wood, horrible pickups, crap-metal hardware,... There are good reasons this is $100.

I look at it like this Chinese guitars are great for looks and mods Squire guitars arent as pretty but usually have decent pickups Either way you look at it, squire guitars will need a set up at one point and the pickups arent usually that much better than chinese guitars(I have a suspicion most pickups are made from the same factory) Other than the classic vibe of which you STILL may want to change out the pickups With a squire unless its used still looking at a higher price point,mods and set up Imo. Squire will overall be more expensive,low resale value regardless and for most guitarist, will probably eant to switch out the pickups anyway. I will say, if you want to keep the guitar as is, it is NOT a great or even good guitar, its decent enough for practice and to bang around. But lets say you mod it. Get some guitar fetish pickups, better tuners,10s for strings, do a proper set up. Then , this guitar will shine.
