1966 - I was 15/16, and remember every single one of these songs. It was AM radio then. Music was my refuge from the total brutality of high school. Hope it's better now, couldn't be worse than it was for many of us.

1 was 14. So many great memories. I still have some of these records - some 45s and some albums. The Beatles - Revolution - have that album; Black is Black - have 45; Beach Boys - Pet Sounds - have the album; Get Ready - have 45; Hungry - have 45; Lady Jane - have 45; The Monkees - have the album; Donovan - Mellow Yellow - have the album; Beatles - Rubber Soul; Johnny Rivers - Secret Agent Man - 45; The Who - album; went to see Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs in concert; and saw The Beatles in concert, but that was in 1964. Too bad I can’t have those years back.

Found a few songs I knew from American gold which was on Finnish radio in 90's so very nice to have some of the one hit wonders on my playlists :)

Great year, 1966 for pop music - here are a few that were left off the List (for some reason...) e.g. WipeOut (The Safaris);!Nowhere Man (Beatles); You’re too good to be True (Frankie Valle); The Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel); Our Day Will Come (Cher) & All You Need is Love (Beatles) = all of these listed above were big hits and play’d often (no doubt ‘for a bribe...) on the Real Don Steele Show 93 KHJ in Los Angeles in the Summer of 1966

+Lo Peezy I'm 20 so I definitely didn't grow up when these songs were popular! The Majority of these songs are classics or I know them them cause I really love the artist. The rest of them I find through significant research and I end up finding so many more songs that I end up loving & enjoying!

This was a great collection of images. However, the one for "Out of Time", by the Rolling Stones (at 9:23) is weird .... It is labeled "Aftermath", but this isn't the album cover for "Aftermath". In fact, if you cut and paste all the faces from this picture, and put them together, viola! You now have the album cover for their album "Flowers"! I wonder if this picture was the cover for a foreign album?

day tripper, we can work it out, nowhere man, Pretty Flamingo, barbara ann, a legal matter, till the end of the day, a well respected man, the kids are all right, and as tears go by, are from 1965... I had too much to dream last night, is from 1967. apart from that, the compilation is very precise and interesting.

Sure I'm a Believer is in his list of 1967, despite it was released in late 1966. Many people put the songs one year later because it was when these songs were hits. That's the trouble with "the kids are allright" and "a legal matter", they were released in november of 1965, in england, but in 1966 in the USA. same was Nowhere man, Rubber Soul was released in november 1965, but they used to play that in the concerts of 1966... and was Nº3 in the hit parades of USA in that year, but for me, one song is from the year it was originally released. I was wrong with the Electric Prunes for that reason. The song was a hit in 1967, and the electric prunes LP is from 1967, but the single was released in 1966, and you're right.
