@@Electric_camper can it do 400 miles + on a single charge? Nope! Does it have a comfortable fixed bed in the back? Nope! The ‘environment’ is just fine and a ‘22 plate Euro 6 diesel is pretty damn clean emissions wise. I’m sure electric vans for motorhoming will get there eventually, but it won’t be before 2030. They just aren’t a priority for manufacturers.

It looks nice. Albeit less practical than my idea of a van I just bought an e-Expert and made my own electric Camper out of that. The factory build ones are insanely priced. (Besides every camper van is, really) I re-used the fake tankflap in these Vans instead of drilling new inlet.

I have a 2020 Toyota Proace by Wellhouse leisure and went to the show yesterday and looked over this campervan to compare with mine. The bed was a pretty standard rock and roll and the Wellhouse one is far superior. It said 205 mile range which if you go by the 20-80% rule, makes it a range of only 123 miles.
@rogerstarkey5390
@rogerstarkey5390 Жыл бұрын
The "20% rule" is no longer a "rule" (if it ever was) The "80% rule"? Well, it depends on the cell type the top buffer on the pack and how often you charge to that level, however, the rule is in reality "don't charge to 100%..... And LEAVE it there". That stresses the cells. If you're taking a long trip, there's zero danger in timing the charge to 100% a few minutes before you leave. . If it's a LiFePo4 pack, they "like" to have a full cycle every so often, to balance the BMS. . (Yes, I do follow the latest developments in EVs and batteries) .

I just don’t think these are an option at the moment as there aren’t enough charging points especially in towns and these vehicles will be heavy due to the battery so cutting your payload down. I would doubt the accuracy of the amount of electricity you’d get in the winter. Will campsites let you charge it and how much would it cost! I also bet they are over priced too. I love to have one but I think more knowledge and information is required, I’d like to know far more about it before I’d even consider buying one.

We have the Vivaro version of this van - the longer version - converted to a campervan. Our range is over 190 miles in winter, even after conversion. We have had EVs for over 5 years and charging has never been an issue. In 60,000 miles of EV motoring we have only had to queue twice, and then for no more than 10 minutes. Just don't charge at Motorway services and it is not a problem.

If you needed extra solar in the winter (when the sun is low in the sky) you can hang fold up portable panels on the side of the van (essentially pointing directly at the sun) and plug them into the inverter to either power directly, or charge the battery.

It is not the future. I had a Tesla with 350 mile range. On one trip I couldn’t find chargers. They were either broken, occupied or well out of my way. Why wait 45 minutes to charge when a petrol or diesel takes 5 minutes to fill up. Many of the gadgets ie heated seats ,lights ,head display ,indicators door locks,and heater rely on the 12 volt battery not the car battery. A friend who works for a breakdown service says it is a common occurrence to be called out because the 12 volt battery is flat.
