I can't help but feel that part of the problem here is the fact that you don't give a man who has been homeless his whole life over 100k and just leave it at that. You can't throw money at problems and expect them to go away, and if Josh was his friend he would have realized this. Get the man a financial advisor, someone who can show him how to spend your money wisely and invest in a decent home, maybe even a vehicle too. It's all just so fucking strange to me.

I work in the field of substance abuse treatment. Stress and intense emotions (usually anger and depression) are the strongest triggers to cause an alcoholic to drink again. Truly, that money should have gone to Thomas' long-term residential treatment, not flat out cash in his pocket. Giving that kind of cash into a dysfunctional person suffering homelessness and alcoholism is only going to add fuel to the fire, you're investing in destruction.

Some people who donated the money could be struggling with it. Maybe they need to eat shitty food or skip meals or can't afford heating in the winter, but then they see this homeless dude who struggles more than them and he doesn't spend it all on alcohol. He is actually kind to others and a good person and has suffered a great injustice. So the person wants to donate to the homeless guy, even if he could afford himself a whole meal with that money. But what happens in reality, is that he donated his money to Josh, not the homeless dude.

The following are facts, so let's analyze them. > Josh films social experiment, allegedly staged. > Does multiple kind acts for Thomas, presumably out of the kindness of his heart, and FILMS it for KZfaq. > Among kind acts is starting Indiegogo campaign so ALL profits go to Thomas. What expenses? I thought all the kind acts were from the goodness of his heart? Indiegogo donators didn't agree to give 20k to Josh. Even though this is Josh's best scenario, he still comes out as scum. Allegedly films staged social experiment and other feel good videos to ALLEGEDLY make youtube money, lies to Indiegogo donators and tries to steal 20k for himself. Food for thought: Now if we were to think about Josh's worst scenario, it goes more downhill. A few months after all this, Thomas is found on the streets dead. It's obvious Josh didn't kill Thomas or he'd be in jail, but why would Thomas be on the streets drinking excessively? If he had received this money, he would at LEAST be at home drinking. Also, assuming someone is guilty off the bat is kind of the opposite of how things work in America, so that's also dangerous. But I totally get where you are coming from, believe me. But it's up to the legal system to follow the paper trail and come to conclusions that way, that's it. Thomas' family can have the indiegogo campaign "looked into" by a lawyer and then take it to civil court, maybe, but that's really all that can, and should, happen. I don't pretend to know the rules of indiegogo, but I assume there's a ton of fine print saying that you're giving money at your own risk. Is it illegal to lie on a kickstarter to get money? I assume it's bad enough that you can at least be sued for the money, that's probably it though, so it's not even really a matter for authorities than it is a civil matter between the parties that are affected like I mentioned before.

If the fund raiser never happened would Thomas still owe Josh $20,000 for all the things they bought when they went shopping and the hotel room that Josh pre arraigned on his credit card? Josh was supposedly doing all this from his "heart".... how shallow can you be taking someone shopping as if your helping them out but the whole time keeping some fish head tab on how much they owe you and not telling them till the very end that, "hey remember when I said I was going to help you out well actually you were just pre-spending money you didn't even have at the time". He went shopping and spent all this money before the fund raiser even started. Now remember the original goal was $10,000 meaning if it only reached that goal then Thomas would have actually owed Josh $10,000 meaning Thomas would have been better off not to be in the video he is just lucky people donated or he would have being getting sued by Josh for the $10k.
