After playing this game to bits, I can confirm that it is a pretty great game. A faithful remake of the original Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life with some Quality of Life improvements and additional content. For those of you who are on the fence, you should definitely purchase it, but wait until it inevitably comes on sale!

Firstly, cinnamon toast crunch is the GOAT of cereal. Secondly, I've said it once I've said it again, I wish more farming games took the AWL approach because it's just a unique experience. I'm about to graduate and get my game design degree this month (six days from now actually), and it's games like this one that inspire me to make games that I want other people to enjoy.

I haven't played this game in years, and was really on the fence about getting the remastered version. But this made me cry so hard at the end, it reminded me of the last time I played the original when I was about 10yrs old, and cried just as much. I really love this game! Man, what a ride that story is even in the remake. But there are still some (bad fever dream) theories I can't get out of my mind. What if Hugh DID kill the turtle and have another demon like himself inhabit it's body. Rock may be dense (harhar), but he can sense that something is off. Which brings me to the main crack theory behind it all: Romana is an immortal witch. She (and Sebastian) seem to be unaffected by time. My theory is that she made a deal with a demon to grant her loyal butler immortality in exchange for a human vessel. That vessel was Hugh. Nina, being no one's fool, caught on to this foul act and confronted Romana. That sealed her fate, and Romana attempted to turn Nina into another vessel. But without a specified target, immortality was granted to Gary/Galen. Because Nina aint playin by your rules, she then peaced out, sending the demon inside her back to hell. Lastly, to ensure her faithful cats would stay by her side for all eternity, Romana offered the turtle as another vessel. Crazy shit, I know. But wait, there's more! Maybe the reason your character ages much faster than everybody else is because Lumina is siphoning your life force. She is the decendant of a witch afterall.

hi i wanted to let you know your theory is so mindblowingly rockpilled that i couldn’t help but draw rock saying it. thank you for solving the mysteries of the story of seasons expanded universe and inspiring terrible AWL fanart👍 i’d love to know if you have any comment on gustafa’s ageless nature in the original. he ages in the remake (or at least appears to….maybe it’s a ruse) but in the original he remains bafflingly youthful even when everyone else is withered. i need to know his secrets.

A big burger video to get me through my shift? I am pumped to see the whole saga all together now. Stay winning, king! (And I will update this comment after I finish lol). Okay! So yeah, I really enjoyed seeing it all together, as expected. I have yet to actually play the game despite it being gifted to me and I figured I would stream it since it's so story-focused. This just gets me more excited! I haven't eaten cereal in so long... but my favorites growing up was probably a tossup between Reeses Puffs and Cookie crisp. Cuz I'm a choco-holic haha. The "Cecilia and Matthew having a domestic on my property" made me laugh before, and it made me laugh now. I just so happened to look at the screen when you mentioned the soil part with the zoom-in, and that got a good laugh outta me too. It felt like going on a journey watching Jack grow old! Thanks for all your hard work :D

my favourite cereal was nesquik chocolate puffs for the longest time and through out my entire childhood. however now as an adultmy favourite cereal has been Captain Crunch peanut butter, and if im ever feeling like extra sweet goodness i'll chow down reese puff cereal for a nice in between.

Question, do you remember enough about this playthrough that you could make a video- or Google Doc, or whatever- that's more of a guide on how to replicate this? Like a list format of what you need to buy on what days, what events need triggered by a certain day? What time you were going to bed, were you watering crops twice a day, etc? A major one would be which days you did the dig site (and what timeframe) and which you dedicated to fishing. Sorry, but I'm really interested in the idea of 100%ing at least the first year for my own playthrough.

You should give it a try! PoOT is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I reccomend Friends of Mineral Town to get the authentic experience. A Wonderful Life is definitely an outlier lol

best harvest moon series are this "wonderful life", as you said with the story progression, character can become old, npc die, new npc on year 2, your kid can grow. and also "back to nature" are best in my opinion, with the rival bachelor / bachelorette actually can invite you to their marriage. both are best farming games!

When I was little and playing this for the first time on my gqmecube, I had Another Wonderful Life. Because I was like 10, thought that Marlin Matthew) and Gustafa were "old and ugly" so I married Rock. I had NO idea that time like actually passed and was SO scandalized that Marlin and and Gustafa barely looked like they changed in year 2 where Rock had full grey lmao XD

Was trying to figure out why in the world you couldnt name an animal Pine and it turns out this game has an insanely strict profanity filter, and a lot of them dobt make sense. It also censors names that the game *generates itself*, like certain hybrid crop numbers

Milk after, unless it's oatmeal (which I make with milk, because it tastes better that way to me), in which case, I add milk first, then oatmeal, fruit, and any other seasonings I feel like (honey, maple, brown sugar, etc), before cooking. My favorite cereals are Lucky Charms (because dehydrated marshmallows are AWESOME), and Maple/Cinnamon Chex (because YUM). Never played any of the Harvest Moon games (thought I've played many of the games that owe their existence to this charming progenitor), but have to say it was touching. Misted up a little at the "it's been a wonderful life" ending. Great content! Looking forward to additional journeys we're invited to join along. Cheers!

I will permit you your (incorrect) opinion on Marlin/Matthew, if only because you did such a great job with the video- and were very generous to leave midroll ads off. I do like how they added on to some of the storylines they were forced to abandon in the original version of the game, like the "Wonderfuls." And I'm totally not biased towards Matthew because I, too, have anxiety and a chronic autoimmune issue.

Favorites have to be frosted flakes, corn flakes, and pops. They’re just good textures, especially with juust the right amount of milk. Even the generic brand corn flakes and frosted flakes from my local supermarket are good.

Bread and water are my snacks and beverage! And my favorite cereal is off brand honey oats and almond in the blue bag from walmart! It's actually REALLY good and fills me up, unlike cheerios. I have history with them. Otherwise Cinn Toast Crunch. Sweet as sin (cinn) and I love the texture.

Favorite cereal.... ooh, thats a tough one. I was never really a cereal person growing up. But I do always enjoy the sugar rush of Frosted Flakes! So maybe Frosted Flakes as favorite, followed by maybe Lucky Charms.... hm!

im not much of a cereal person but im partial to chex (either rice or corn) or occasionally rice krispies, although the thing about krispies is that they dont stay krispy for very long due to their size and component materials (90% air, 10% rice, a famously flimsy material)

My favorite sugary cereal is definitely Cinnamon Toast Crunch 🍞 On the daily though, I eat Honey Bunches of Oats with almonds because it’s pretty good and you can get it for a good deal at Costco 😊

Harvest Moon DS and DS Cute are so nostalgic for me- I wonder why they reduced the bachelors and bachelorettes. I loved marrying Flora, Skye, Kai, and even considering marrying the mermaid (Lola?) but never got around to it.

Just starting this 3 hour movie, but what I always find odd is how people who aim for perfection claim it takes away from the point of the games. No, that's what makes these games so great, a perfection run, where you calculate, exploit, and nickel and dime the world is a playthrough still. You see how your gameplay can change some progress, especially with how A Wonderful Life plays out sections of the MCs life.

You make an interesting point. I can personally see both sides of the argument. Like most people, I fell in love with video games as a kid and, at that point, I never wanted to 100% any game and I still really enjoyed my time playing. I'm sure some video game purists would say that that is the "ideal way" to play and experience a video game. Of course, I don't necessarily agree with that. When I play a game, I want to see everything I can. Maybe it's because I'm old now and only have so much time to play games, but perfecting a game is satisfying since I know I got my moneys worth and my perception is that I, "didn't waste my time because I completed it." I guess I fall into the camp that there is no right or wrong way to play a game. It's a fools errand to try and be objective with something so inherently personal as how someone enjoys something, video games or otherwise.

I knew the drum thing was vaguely wrong to begin with because my family is quite musical and my y5/6 primary school had a music teacher who was big into the African music, so just about everybody who went there during that period is familiar with the style of drum Gustafo gives you, but I had to look it up to make sure I was getting the terms right.
