Orlando kart center is probably the most high risk kart place I've ever been to. The rental karts are fast, the workers are slow, and they let anyone wheel them without ensuring they're safe drivers. For people asking why there are no seatbelts. If karts had seatbelts I would be dead or seriously injured and that probably goes the same for many kart racers around the world. It’s like having seatbelts on a bike. You don’t really want to be attached to a flipping, out of control, potentially on fire machine where your head is literally the roof. You’re much better off being thrown from the machine. Thing’s like neck braces, rib protectors and good quality racewear and helmets will do a lot more good than a seatbelt would in karting. Also better run off, I don’t know the context or layout of the track but not having a sandpit/gravel and instead just a rigid barrier seems weird.
@turo31312 жыл бұрын
Exactly, flipped my cart and it wasnt that serious but it would had taken ages to climb out with a seatbelt, if it then would had been on fire id be fucking dead or hospitalized
@TheMaxxMiller2 жыл бұрын
This is the same reason why kart racing suits and auto racing suits (or firesuits) are different and should be used accordingly. The primary dangers when involved in a crash are very different between the two racing disciplines. In karting, the suit is abrasion resist to protect the driver if thrown from the kart. In Auto racing ( where harnesses are used), the suit is not designed to protect against abrasion since the risk of being ejected from the race vehicle is much lower. They are primarily designed to protect against fire risks and buy time for the racer to get themselves out or be extracted from a burning car.

I had a similar accident but thank god I went through two plastic barriers before coming to a stop. OKC’s barriers there make no sense to me. Needs more run off

Karting drivers are the real warriors, way more dangerous than actual formula racing

100kmh compared to 340. I'd say formula 1 is way more dangerous than karting.

@@asthmaticvalk5708 it´s not about the speed alone. In an F1 car you´re sitting in a monocoque that is almost unbreakable and you have a 6 point seat belt. In karting you´re more exposed to certain forces (in a way)

@@TheJester12 and a halo, in karting you are at 100 km/h with your entire top half unprotected from debris
