After numerous 4K TV's, we got to test something completely different - a laser TV with a huge 100" display. Check out our in-depth review to find out what exactly is a laser TV and how good it actually performs.

There looks like a lot of reflections on the wall to the right of the screen. Is that normal for this screen? I figure is has a high gain ALR surface.

Great review! I'd like to know if the reflection off of the wall on the right side is expected from the ALR screen that comes with the projector. That would seem very distracting an annoying under normal viewing conditions.
@BenchHouse
@BenchHouse 3 жыл бұрын
The reflection was due to the proximity of the side wall, but is not the problem as long as there's at least a 1-2 meters extra on both sides

@@BenchHouse 👍 Thanks for the feedback. I guess it's inherent to ALR screen technology and something to keep in mind for placement in narrower spaces.

How many TVs come with colored LEDs around the outside edge to give similar results in a feature you have to pay extra for?

Can you let us know on the fan sound please? I've been through 3 UST Projectors (Xiaomi, Feng Mi and Optoma) and the first 2 were very loud. Optoma was quiet but also pretty pricey

If I understand correctly, you were using the Daylight ALR screen and not the Cinema ALR screen (about 150 degrees viewing angle). Is this correct? I only wish that you were able to show some straight on, moving to the sides, shots so we could see how the angles affected the brightness of the image. It looked like the "angled" shots were ~45 degrees and looked pretty good, but it wasn't clear. Also, were the reflections as noticeable because of the Daylight screen technology or is this something to expect from all ALR screens? Finally, do you have any idea about when you might review the Hisense L9G 3 laser projection "TV"? IMO, your room is bright enough to give users a REALISTIC idea about what daytime viewing would be like. Just about ALL laser projector/screens look good in the dark, but the ALR of the screens during daytime (with windows, etc.) viewing is what, IMO, "separates the men from the boys"... 😉 PS. I thought this was one of the best reviews of a projector I've seen! You just got a subscriber.

It requires a wider space so it would not reflect on the side walls. The spot in our studio was fairly narrow, it should be fine in a large living room.

@BenchHouse

Completely safe, as the projector cuts the beam as soon as you get near it. Otherwise, it's like any other screen, except it's not even emissive, so it's quite pleasant to watch.

Pros: It's big for its “price” --> 100" , --> say it gets wrecked, dropped, cracked lens, not well maintained against dust particles that scratch the lens, replacing parts will bring you back to a OLED TV price overall Short distance --> 32cm under the TV and 32cm away from the wall --> light bleed on the ceiling and walls, lens reflection during dark scenes or due to movie ratio limitations you will have block bars on the top and bottom Audio system is built into the Projector. --> is the audio quality Bose or JBL quality? When I Bluetooth to a JBL speaker , it sounds much better than the audio quality coming out of my phone. Dims and cuts the lazer when you get near it to protect from small kids --> when you cut the laser, you're basically saying the screen will go all black in the middle of the movie if someone gets too close to the projector Cons: - Too big TV gives headaches and dry eyes - Seeing laser light can and will blind you - when they “dim” or “cut” laser light from someone getting close to the projector, the screen will go black in the middle of watching a movie. - There is laser light glare reflection on the screen, image provided - There is light bleeding on the side wall and ceiling, image provided - “When viewing the black screen, you can notice a slightly brighter circle in the middle created by the lens which is barely visible in dark scenes" --> barely visible still means it's visible enough to need to comment about it - when watching a movie that is unable to fill the screen ratios, block black bars will appear on the top and bottom of your content where the lens projector will have light glare and reflection on the bottom black bar - built in audio system in the projector --> is the built in sound system Bose or JBL quality sound? - every con about a projector --> lens can be scratched by dust particles --> cooling fan for a projector can be loud and noisy --> say you accidentally knock the projector over from its stand. Welp, you just wrecked your projector and lost your TV cuz 100" screen is useless now. Cracked lens, broken light bulb. Hope you bought unlimited warranty that covers mishandling and accidents. --> projectors let off a lot of light toward the screen and away from the screen, causing insane light reflection and glare
@judyli5262
@judyli5262 2 жыл бұрын
projectors need to be refocused every now and then. That's pretty annoying to have to the that little wrench adjustments to the legs each time. “Manual” unit placement means I gotta shift you left, right, forward and backward to get it right. Adjustment of the front and back feet height. Automatic and “manual” corrections in the menu.
