Great video my friend! And to clarify a little haha 😆 I do keep the boxes to all my “grail” pieces and figures that I know I paid premium pricing for. For me I throw out boxes to figures that are overproduced and won’t sell for even retail value. At the end of the this is a topic not often discuss and eventually we all run into this issue. Ultimately to stay in this hobby and not burn out tough decisions must be made eventually. Great video as always my friend! Great to see your mindset and it’s ok to agree to disagree 😂😂😂

You probably have the best system tbh rather than try to keep every single thing! What I’m doing is certainly not sustainable long term whereas you have the balance right 👍🏻

I do love a random off-kilter vid... Good storage advice, probably should do the same with mine as there's a bit of dampness occurring, despite being re-roofed a couple of years ago. Interesting book recommendation, I shall spin that to my missus for consideration, as she's the literary genius in the house. Better stop waffling and get to the Vader vid!

I liquidize mine, an dmake a smoothie! Extra fibre ;) lol. I have mine stored in my room at the moment with all the accessories in. Again if someone needs to sell them when I join the force, they will have an extra few £'s! Looking forward to the next one.... But Vader will have to wait for a bit until I get the non holo one and unbox 👍

I would be worried about damage from the summer time heat if I stored anything in my attic. I don't keep the brown shipper boxes, and have the black Star Wars boxes neatly stacked on top of tall bookcases and other places. But as you know, I've lately gone to the extreme for box storage. 🤣🤣

Summer time heat isn’t something we usually have to worry about in the UK 😅 But yeah I know what you mean. I’d really like to have them neatly arranged somewhere tbh. Especially the newer boxes with the coloured band around the bottom. But yes I know you’ve gone to the box storage dark side!! 😁 I’m still tempted to do that!

After years of selling Rolex and other fine timepieces, I can say definitively that having all boxes, inserts, tags, paperwork, etc adds dramatically to the resale value. It helps to reassure the buyer that they are getting a genuine article, and that the seller or previous owner was a responsible collector. The fact that Hot Toys designed collector friendly packaging and art boxes that can be opened and closed without damaging them is further evidence that these containers are designed to be retained (if so desired. ) I enjoy the boxes and have no problems with storing them. To me, it's just another aspect of the hobby that I enjoy managing. Keep creating this great content 👏 😎👍

Cool wee video, apologies for lateness of comments, like you I think of the box as part of the figure experience, so always keep them, have never sold a figure and have no plans to do so, but you just never know? This is interesting timing. Today I finally started going through my boxes and deciding which ones I'm pulling the accessories from and breaking down. What I'm doing is taking the inner packaging out of select boxes (the ones that I can reasonably expect to not be worth a whole lot for resale anyway...or ones that I will be least likely to get rid of) and tossing the clam shells, and flattening out the art boxes so that I at least have those, but they now take up less space and can more easily be stored in my closet or something. I do have several vehicles though...and I'm thinking of getting a large mattress bag for moving and putting those in there to keep them in my garage. The garage is more like an open-air shed, so I'll only do that if I can get something that will keep the air/moisture/bugs out. My place is really small and the boxes are a piling.

I like the idea of chucking the clamshells and flattening down the boxes 👍🏻 And yeah a mattress bag is a great idea! Plenty of room plus maybe if you had a heat gun or something you could close it up really well to make it proper air/moisture/bug resistant! Thanks for watching and for the great comment 👊🏻

Hot Toy boxes certainly are the prettiest trash I recycle. It just comes to a point where if your collection reaches a certain size keeping boxes is just not pragmatic. Furthermore, not to be a heavy or anything, but storing an excess of potentially flammable cardboard is probably not recommended in an attic. I tossed 4 Hot Toy boxes 📦 last week. IMHO, Its liberating as hell to free yourself from trash no matter how pretty it is. 😊 Always love your vids and this is always a great discussion for collectors. 😊

Oh I'm sure it's probably fine. I have some boxes up in my attic too but to your point, at certain point, my collection just got too big and I had to decide if I was a box collector or a figure collector. 🙂 Still, a great video and a painful topic. It wasn't easy the first time I started tossing. 😁

Another great one TK, I love the hot toy boxes! I don’t have much room either but I make it work by putting a small shelf high up in a closet and laying them down on the side of the box so more fit. Even if I ran out of room I’d stack them in a corner before I ever pay for a storage unit lol

If you stand on them they go flat, put them in a bin liner then leave them out side, check them every few years. If needed move them around so you won't mistake then for bin crap. Please feel free to download my manual on storage advice. Many thanks.

Yeah! Honestly must be playing on my mind cos the other night I dreamt I was putting them in a small room and they vanished (but they were still there just invisible) so I was able to store more boxes there! 😅🤪

If you're not supposed to store stuff in your attic then my patents are stuffed, their attic has been full for crap for decades lol. I have to throw all my shippers because the boxes won't fit in our closet otherwise, sounds mad but it's the difference between fitting one more line of figure boxes in. Glad to see there's still room for more! Interesting video ,great work as always dude 👍🏻

Haha, yep lofts definitely accumulate stuff over a decades thats for sure! 😀 I used to think lofts/attics were legitimately to insulate the house AND a place to store stuff! Apparently I'm wrong about the latter as I was watching something that said they're *supposed* to be kept empty! I completely understand re: binning your shippers. The extra cardboard definitely adds up when you have multiple boxes to store! Thanks for watching mate 👊🏻

@@TK421Collectibles I think everyone I know in the uk with a loft has loads of stuff up there and a wasp's nest haha. I went to my brother's friends house years ago, he collected computers, amstrad, comadore, amiga, that kind of stuff his ceiling was like a big bubble hanging down about 8 inches! All stored in his attic. Yeah, I don't see why some people are precious about the shipper boxes 🤷♂️

I keep all of my boxes!! Until I move to my final house, build my ultimate display room and decide what has to go, I'm keeping the boxes. Once that happens, then I'm a little more open to getting rid of them. Right now it does suck to have to use up room for them.

Excellent video Chris. Personally I keep all the art boxes but chuck out the shippers. Recently got my attic completely floored, and I store my art boxes in IKEA storage boxes.

My problem is storing 1/6 scale vehicle boxes. Those things are huge. All thrown in the loft at the moment but fast running out of storage space.

YES!! The recent BARC speeder sets made me realise that a few more vehicles and my storage space is DONE! And they're only the bikes, boxes for stuff like Batmobiles etc are gigantic aren't they!

Im thinking of getting rid of all my shipper boxes and storing the art boxes in their plastic in a cupboard I've cleared out for them. Don't like going up into the spidery loft 😅 not totally sure yet though. I guess if I need to sell them I'll just order a pack of shipper boxes of amazon or something. Dont think the original shippers add that much resale value, maybe £10 or £20 each at most

Some collectors seem to think the shipper adds value but its not really the case so getting rid is definitely a good way to reduce how much space everything takes up👍🏻 And yeah for resale you'd just need a few boxes and bubble wrap and you're good to go! 👊🏻

Now for me, I personally don't understand WHY would you destroy the outer box(not saying on brown shipper). If I ever plan to sell any of the figures, or if my wife needs to sell them(if something happen to me). Don't have to go out and purchase boxes to ship out. Yeah, some may not have storage like me, but, I have my boxes stored in a massive size big plastic bag(4) with handles in my closet. Can't see myself more boxes in case I wanted to sell them!🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ I keep the brown shipper, just in case if I need to sell a figure.....not spend more money for a shipper that I already have!🤷🏾♂️

I used to keep my boxes in the loft but I destroy all brown boxes and I store the art boxes in plastic tubs and stack them in the garage. There garage is filling up too quickly😢

It varies tbh mate. Usually Toys Buying Agent, and if I pre-order anything it's usually with The Good The Bad and The Robots. For older figures it's eBay or Facebook groups👍🏻

Like you bud, all my boxes are in the loft. Even taken up most of it lol. I think it's very important to keep them, like you say for selling on and most of all if anything happens to me. So my wife and my daughter can sell on. Each to there own as it's not for everyone. 😊
