When my great grandpa bought my great grandma a washing machine for one of their anniversaries (I think this was 1939), she cried. She loved that thing. She always said without any irony that that was one of the best inventions of the 20th century.

My grandma said the same! And she was absolutely right, that thing allowed women to really get out of the house and do other things! (before the washing and "drenching out water would take days, literally!)

Agree, washing machine and dryer is great innovation. I used to wash cloth by hand before, scrub it hard over wood board, each cloth take 3-5 minutes and there're so many clothes in family of 5. It will take at least 30-60 minutes just to wash all of them. Then need to rinse it multiple times, the squeeze hard, then hang them under sun. Hopefully it's sunshine. Big head ache during raining session. It's hard work and has to do everyday. Today, just dump all cloth, put detergent then press start button,,...done. Just need to do it once a week. Awesome !!

I don't know -- from the 40s to the 80s, the technology seems to be off by about a decade. Yes, television existed in the 40s, microwaves probably existed in the 60s, and the food processor probably existed in the 70s, but they didn't become commonplace household items until about ten years after they're shown here -- TV in the 50s, microwaves in the 70s, and food processors in the 80s.
@gtvchnl
@gtvchnl 5 жыл бұрын
Well only SOME of them. TV was invented in ‘39. But it was mostly used in the 40’s and 50’s. The microwave was invented in ‘62. But yeah everything else is kinda off

We're at the forefront of technology. Electric cars, tablet computers, 3D printing, even body-powered devices. We've made leaps and strides in the fields of medicine, biotechnology, transportation. We have access to a plethora of information at our fingertips. And the best you could give us is a vacuum cleaner?

My house (that I moved to in 2006) was built in 1975 in the same street as it always has been ... and not a single thing changed except the kitchen when my dad Upgraded it in MID-2012. and I think that ghosts live in house.😂
