I remember the Pilot fineliner (blue and black colors with a distinctive yellow cap that nowadays is white) that became my favorite pen during my middle and high school years. I still use it and also own the color line from Stabilo and Staedtler. That was a great innovation for me!! 🖊

@@NandigamS I think the Pilot Frixion Zone erasable pen was the one released in 2020, but the original capped FriXion pen was released in Japan in 2006 or 2007. Frixion pens were actually inspired by Pilot's previous experiments in creating the Metamo ink that changes its color when rubbed or erased.😊

The 100 years history of Japanese stationary was so fascinating to learn about, how each evolved one into another! The most interesting that blew my mind was washi tape being invented in 2006!? Thats so recent i had no idea!! Thank you for all the research you did for this video, i learned so much!! And thank you to Miriam for sharing that vintage marker set and that hilarious lil shout out xD thanks for also sharing your bloopers, theyre so cute!

My fiance still has his original Pilot FriXion pen (a black one) from 2006! He hadn't used it much since high school and (last I checked) it still works! I remember him letting me try it out and I was blown away at how cool the ink worked! Oh man, not long after that, I bought my first set of FriXion pens. Used them all up in a few weeks lmao. Then I didn't buy more FriXion pens until like 2019 when I got back into gel pens in general. They're just so freaking cool

A new wholesome video by JetPens ❤ Guess my pens will be vintage in 20 or 30 years ^^ But growing up in the country of Clairefontaine in the 80's we didn't know much about Japan. Sometime you got excited with a pen without knowing that Pentel and Pilot were Japanese brands (in our class when we were 10 years old in 1982, we found the Pentel R50-c rollerballs very cool, even more because they were not allowed at school for not being Bic but we were "a bit" rebellious😆) The only _vintage_ day-to-day Japanese item I have is a Sharp PC-1261 pocket programming calculator from 1984 (and a PC-1246 from 1982 as a backup) : leightweight, brushed aluminium facade, quick to use, empowering tool you can program on your own, batteries lasting ages 🙂

It's a great informative video from JetPens! A few years ago, NHK World featured a segment about Japanese stationery; the segment was titled BEGIN Japanology. Honestly, I was surprised that Sailor, a famous fountain pen company, actually created the first Japan-made ballpoint pen in 1948, just 3 years after World War II. By comparison, Marcel Bich developed the Bic Cristal ballpoint pen in 1950 while Parker created the iconic Jotter ballpoint pen in 1954. I really learned so much from you when it comes to stationery, and I will never get tired of watching your videos or reading your blogs. Thanks, JetPens, especially to Miriam, for presenting such wonderful video about Japanese stationery evolution for over 100 years. More power to you!😊😉🗂🖋🖊✒️🖍📃🖌

My all time favourite stationary is Mechanical Pencil Pentel Caplet 1.0. I have used those pencils since I am in high school until now be a doctoral student. So reliable and robust! amazing. First, I’m addicted to fountain pens and inks, and all the accessories for my journal and letters. But I delete emails from pen and ink vendors, too. But again, not JetPens. I have a Parker Big Red Ballpoint pen from 1979 that my mother bought for me when I was in high school. It has a green case and I use a broad refill in it. I still use it daily and love it. My first post college job was at a computer/office supply store (I was in heaven) and I have a red Tombow Monoball pen from a trade show. I thought it was cool because it was the first pen I had with an "ink window". Plus a few Bic yellow barrel fine point pens and white barrel accounting fine point pens. Then there's the Lindy shorty gold pen that the managers used at Hudson's Department Store plus a few other colors. I love pens!

Miriam, when you encounter pedantic commenters like that just remind them that you are a “Buyer” while they are merely a “buyer”.

I found some light green paper made in East Germany, in the 1980s. It was bad then and totally unsuitable for decadent fountain pens. It's even worse now that it's gone pale and brittle. But wonderful for typewriter art: the letters stencil right out 😂. Czech materials held up well, in contrast.

Can I just say that I will get the Uni One and Uni One P pens OH and the Uni Jetstream Multi SXE3-507 type body. I have one in olive and one in mustard. I keep being on the lookout for other shades of that pen body. I feel like I may swap out, or experiment with swapping out the red ink with a 0.5mm pencil, as I use them more.

I LOVE my set of Zebra Zazzle Brights Liquid Ink Highlighters - I've had them at least 11 years. Sadly a couple of the [10] colors are almost empty & I'm not sure what to replace them with. I'm not a fan of the mild & pastel highlighters - I like the bright neon colors
