Honestly, it was the best decision I've made on a vehicle when I got my LCI X5MC last year. I'll never sell mine and I'm incredibly happy and impressed with it.

That cargo option with the hiding shelve is present in my 08/2019 build and still works! The option also has the rubber strips which hold whatever is on the in place. It is a pretty cool option!

One thing i still love about BMW is they still offer options with regard colour of the interior. I personally find it so frustrating that some manufacturers dont give the option its all dark greys and blacks. Love the contrast in colours of this car

I agree - I think the X5 LCI is probably the best looking BMW front at the moment and the X5 is near peak BMW in this SUV era (and the magical button is pure genius!)

Great video Joe! I’d love one of these but I just couldn’t justify the extra £40K spend and so in 2021 I ordered my X5 M50i (Performance) - pre LCI of course- and it still puts a smile on my face every journey. Not sure I’m a fan of the new BMW dash setups ie: elongated screen with a serious lack of physical buttons. Thnx for a superb vid.

Awesome video mate - thanks for putting this one together. Had my pre-LCI for 3 years and 30k miles and can say that it does absolutely everything you want from a family SUV but at the same time gives you a real smile when you push on. It’s genuinely a do it all car and can handle anything you throw at it with aplomb. The only car I’d look to replace it with is another X5M or the M5 Touring when that’s released.

Another top notch video Joe, great to watch 🙏. Went for a 50E as a daily as plenty of poke and better ride. New dashboard is great, but the retro fit on the revamp has left the cockpit dials at an angle when the steering wheel is straight. Once you’ve seen it it’s difficult to unsee it, otherwise great car and faultless 6,000 miles and counting…

Very enjoyable watch Joe. I won’t lie, I’m a BMW fanboy, I’m on my 6th BMW now (G30 520d M-Sport). My list is very varied E30 318i E36 B25 Alpina E46 320i F45 216d G30 520d (current car) E39 M5 (8yrs 100,000 miles ‘05-2013) Some family cars there as you probably guessed. I love the look of that X5M, great presence and possibly the ultimate sleeper. It’s a serious wedge of cash but BMW seem to have nailed it with looks, power and as always reliability. Top video Joe

What a fantastic looking BMW

I drive a 2021 X3 30e X-Drive and I love it. I've also had the X3 30d, a couple of 5 Series Estates, a 435d Grand Coupé and two Z4s. All of them had one thing in common. They all allowed road spray and dirt into the engine bay, just like this X5 Competition. WTF BMW??? They produce amazing cars and can't sort out a fundamental thing like the filthy engine bay. In the lookout for something similar but the pre facelift, SQ7 or SVR. With all the negative stuff and insurance and liability I still find myself leaning towards a carbon edition SVR. Might be mad 😂😂

How did you find ride comfort compare to pre facelift 19 plate M5 Comp. ?My M5 was ridiculously harsh, not usable really on UK roads, amazing in Germany...Sold it at the end and swapped to X7 at the end.. So how comfortable did you find this X5 M ?Or compared to RSQ8 ?

Hi Joel how do you find the road noice? I have had my x6m for 3 months and its tire and road noise on imperfect road surfaces is insane. How do you reduce that?😢

I just can’t decide between a 12 month old 50e with air ride or the x5m. Different cars I know and economy in x5m prob be around 16mpg all the time. But it’s not my everyday car. I drove a 50e the interiors are beautiful in these so light and open and look great

I think it’s a shame they don’t offer air suspension in this. I know it would lose some of that insane ability for an SUV, but for how you are really going to use it, it feels like that would be a game changer.

Would you agree that probably the best X5 is the 50e. Also loads of torque. Super economical, almost 500 hp and a very descent price.

I had an X3M for 3 years, loved it at the time, though it was not a great city car (side-to-side jostling and lack of low end torque). Now I drive a G80 M3, and it's darkened my opinion of the X3M. Though the X3M could perform more than expected, it's not in the same league as the M3. In a fast corner, the X3M felt high and heavy; the M3 feels like it belongs. The X5M seems like a much better performance SUV than the X3M, given its ride and torque range, and I think its proportions are better. But I guess I'm now one of those snobby M car drivers who looks at the X3M and X5M and asks "WHY???"

How do the running costs compare to the touring M3?

Another thing can you do 0 to 60 again in summer i believe this can beat last generation

I still want the 2022 X5 M competition. The only initiative they've engineered on this new model is sharp response like the RS6 Audi.

You answered my question first! Humbled 🙂. Well I sold my G05 X5M comp and have my Porsche turbo e hybrid with gt package buying built, to be delivered in July. Had the exact same spec, marina bay blue with ultimate package and white leather, was sad to see it go 😞 You forgot another benefit, hybrid gets ridiculous tax benefits as a company car - the only thing good this electric crap has 😅So will be able to do a proper comparison! I’ll let you know my thoughts If interested! Cheers!

The facelift grille and headlights are a downgrade. At least the mechanical side is still good.

I love cars. I love V8s. And im not overly pushing green agenda. However I just cant see this as the right direction. 2.5 tonnes and 4sec suv which no one will ever take on a mountain pass. At 150k surely a base model x5 and second hand 911 or M3 are more attractive.

Best looking BMW front end is the 4 series/ M3.

I hate the tacked on video screen with no design and no binnacle. I hope they can get a better R&D budget for binnacles and switchgear once the German economy improves.

Yeah the last one was better in almost every way.

The idea is to turn "football (soccer) mom mobile" X5 into sports car. I don't think it works. The biggest problem with X5 is that it looks....plain, cut off the front part and the main body is indistinguishable from Honda Pilot. You can slap 3000 HP engine on a school bus and it will be fast too.
