@@CaseyWalle Andromeda's music is very good indeed. Don't want to compare to ERRA - I think it is not fair and really there is no reason to. Both are great it is just that ERRA might be in a class all by themselves! ERRA's great songs are g-dlike to me, that is truly an incredible attribute that only few songs / bands will ever achieve. And ERRA has done it several times across several albums. What is it like to be able to play at this level, and specifically to play the best of the best by ERRA. It must feel amazing!

Wait, I just got it - if I got you right then this refers to an ERRA album from a while back not the band Andromeda... no biggie. The prog band Andromeda is not bad at all, they kind of remind me of Dream Theater (that's an awesome band) A lot of this music is still really new to me so I am still learning what's what, for example I just discovered Periphery around the summer of 2018.

Actually when I made this I was looking for riffs that were longer and could hold on their own. But Dementia is one of my favourites! Also Invent and Pattern Interrupt

it really is more of a journey than a song. I like to think of the first half a riding through the rough rapids of a river, the bridge as approaching the edge of the falls, then the outro as flying off the edge.

Yeah but Augment, Andromeda and Impulse are tied of 10/10 while the rest are more 9. 1/10

Yeah Neon was more focused on being super technical rather than heavy. It is the most technical album they've ever done, to its detriment kinda. Their newest album really captured the best elements of everything they've done.

I'm 2 years late, and you might've gotten better at guitar now. If not, try out Nigh to Silence. It's very easy and very fun. Divisionary is also pretty easy; I think that tapping riff is perfect to get tapping with 2 fingers down.

Dementia was close, but when I was going over it, I felt like the vocals bring the song out more than just the riffs, especially the one at 2:40 with Jesse singing. Also being a riffs video, tried to stray away from pure solo format, like the ending of Dementia. As for that band, this is the first time I'm hearing of them, I'll give 'em a listen! Definitely Augment. ;) It's what got me into more technical metal, and overall the album is just so consistant.

@@CaseyWalle Agreed, Augment is a masterpiece! :) I dunno, the guitar melody at the beginning riffs are very beautiful I reckon. Amazing playing btw! Can you play the solo's in Dementia? I've tried but seem insane and gave up early. You will seriously love Above Below 100%, Aussie band with very high quality writing and insane guitar like Erra and IA, I recommend for first listens try In Perpetuum, Ephemeral, God Complex, and Inferno. (bad singing in this one though for 20sec) You're in for a big treat ;)

If we are talking overall songs, I think Dementia is in my top 5. Just recently I've been listening to a lot of deathcore, getting that doom and gloom, haha. I've never tried to play the end of Dementia, back in the day I learnt the first half, for fun. But I'm really not too good at soloing. I think I'm more of a rhythm guitarist, I tend to strum and place my fingers down hard, which leads me not able to play super fast. Rad dude, I'll check them out today sometime!

ABRB Instinct is a phenomenal album and IMO are the Deathcore version of Erra in terms of high quality music writing. What do you think of Above Below Sowers of Discord?? (btw their lyrics are also extremely good) Would you consider covering a song off it?

@@Vovoxa7 Of course the Augment instrumental going into Dementia, one of the best things ever created. Never listened to ABRB, but I'm into Enterprise Earth, Angelmaker and Black Tongue at the moment. I guess BT are more death metal, not sure. Above, Below were pretty rad! Couldn't find a band more like a mix of old Northlane and Invent Animate if I tried! right now I'm not looking at doing straight up just 1 cover, but interested in doing more lengthy videos with new ideas. But, covers aren't going away.

ERRA music is massively out of my league as a guitarist. In the past year I tried to "jumpstart" my skills, I mean get out of a decade long rut of power cord music that was even a bit too hard for me. Anyway I did find that learning the exact and accurate notes to some of these songs helped pull my skills up quite a bit. Kind of from a feeling of "I should hide my playing from everyone" to "if someone heard what I was playing I might not be completely embarrassed". Long story short, I would recommend that anyone trying to learn guitar add one "impossible to play" song to their practice, be sure to learn all the notes 100% (this is essential, learn the accurate notes completely, do not skip this at all!!! And be sure the notes are 100% complete and accurate otherwise you will hear incorrect riffs when you try to play and that will demotivate you right on the spot. Also incorrect tabs can lead to measures that don't time properly, which leads to an instant breakdown in technique) then try playing at 1/4 speed, 1/2 speed, etc... and see if it doesn't inspire them to practice more and actually help them get even better overall. FWIW there is actual science that is the foundation of this idea, I did not make it up. Science about how we as humans learn things, how we make mistakes, how we develop good or bad habits, etc...

Yup I created all the instrumentals, that's why it took me a long time to make. I watched drum covers and Alex Ballew live drum cams to try and get the drums as spot on as possible. :) Was even thinking of screaming too but, it's about the riffs.
