The full print recorded on a FLIR ONE PRO thermal camera is uploaded!
Awesome motion pictures to realize that the part cooling is just on the limit here.
Settings and 247upgrades done on this printer: Please see below!
I started my build with a kit from Formbot (Aliexpress)
A convenient and good quality start, but you may change/add some parts*:
s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_AD5kIa
After tuning the Voron 0.0 to "247 Stage 1", it is possible to do this feasibility study of a full and uncut 1000mm/s print, which opens potentials for faster daily FDM printing at high quality.
The Voron Zero is a very good basis for tuning at low cost, as the moved parts are light weight.
A great open source design by vorondesign.com!

@SaltyBrains Dunno about that. The filament cools pretty quickly, can grab it firmly fresh out of the nozzle. Only thing that really burns is that damn heat block, even through a silicone sock it's not just hot but engineered to dump heat into things rapidly, your fingers are no exception.

Not necessarily - those belts would still flex just enough for the drive pulley to slip, if not just stalling the steppers outright... At worst, it will break your finger (could take off a pinky if it was a freakish accident), most likely it'd ruin the belt and/or the print... But surely, no "assisted printing" is possible here!

I don't doubt larger printers could do this, as what really holds back a printer form printing faster is the extruder itself unable to feed fast enough. Upgrading the parts like the belts for the printer head and the bed would also be needed. Case in point, I have twin Nep-Nep 2's from Elegoo, and I run the prints at 80mm and have had zero extrusion issues or layer issues during printing (200/60) using Hatchbox PLA. Edit: One thought also that might be an issue for bigger printers is the print bed also has to move at that speed, and if you use a Glass bed, it will be too heavy to try and make those quick snappy movements and would most likely break the belt. On this printer he has in the video, you can see the bed doesn't move and is only responsible for the Z axis movement, X and Y are only the print head moving which is much lighter.
@247printing
@247printing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, larger printers could do that, but you have to deal with the weight of the moved masses. Here we are on a CoreXY motion system, which is nice (but maybe not the best) for going fast. Bed slingers can be tuned to be fast, but they have their very own downsides in order to so - like you mentioned. It can be summed up quite easily: In order to go fast(er) on any printer you have to deal with the motion-system (including the frame stiffness), the extrusion-system, the cooling-system and you have to tweak/handle the firmware/slicer accordingly. It all depends from each other. I worked on all of those aspects mentioned and this preview is a result for the tuning measures. Concerning your example on the Nep-Nep 2's: Besides the material it depends on the layer height, line width and the max speed of your print settings, if your hotend can handle the extrusion. 80mm/s at a common 0.2mm layer height and around 0.4x perimeters are no big challenge. You can calculate quite easily if your settings are out of range for the extruder/hotend you are using - unit is [mm³/s]. In this video: 0.1mm layer height, 0.4mm perimeter and at 1000mm/s results/demands a peak (~continuous) flow of 40mm³/s, which is quite the limit for my hotend combination (Mosquito Magnum with extended custom heater block). For comparison: An E3D V6 is at around 10 to 15mm³/s, where most of commercial printers range atm. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting!
@SirLANsalot
@SirLANsalot 2 жыл бұрын
@@247printing I have managed to get .05mm layer hieights (the lowest an FDM can do) and have pretty much left it at 80mm for almost anything I do now. I could sit and tweak it and probably push it to 100mm but ghosting starts to become an issue with the bed. I hope to get my hands on a Neptune X when Elegoo starts making more. The X is, of course, a copy of the Ender X and is an X/Y printer, bed never moves except for handing the Z. So with those and a tuned extruder you could probably get some crazy speeds well above any bed slinger type could dream of. Still a fun crazy vid LOL.

Loving these videos. Can you push it to failure? 1200mm/s , 2000 mm/s, 3000mm/s. Might come out terribly - but seeing which parts are failing and where improvements need to be made to achieve those speeds would be very interesting.

Printing ABS semi-openframe with fans blowing hot air form both sides at the hotend level... at this speed. Nice.

Thanks mate! But it's actually ambient air for cooling from the sides - The print is so fast that internal stress or warping don't have a chance - the part does not cool down fast enough :)

@247printing it seems the infill path may be causing some unnecessary slow-down here, where just doing a perimeter pass 3 or 4 times would be faster than the back and forth shaking. On some of your other videos as well - I think slicing needs to be overhauled for high speed printing as current slicing wasn't made with those kind of kinematics in mind.
