12:00 The tamer with the lollipop comes from the Japanese metaphor 飴と鞭 (Ame to muchi) which litterally translates to “candy and whip” and means the same as “carrot and stick” in English, which is a metaphor for the use of a combination of reward and punishment to induce a desired behaviour. 😊

For the Tamer trainer class holding a lollipop, I always kind of interpreted it as representing that old saying of 'using a carrot or a stick' to force obedience. The whip is punishment to enforce behavior while the lollipop is a treat to promote behavior.

The thing about Ash not aging is especially weird considering his multiple canonical 1 year anniversaries of different events. In particular there was a line in the indigo league that confirmed it took 1 year for Ash to collect all 8 badges. The gen 2-4 anime just didn't acknowledge Ash's age while bringing back old characters for cameos (confirming the whole series is continuous), but then in Best Wishes they canonically called Ash 10 again, but also had Dawn make a cameo confirming it's continuity in the entire series and creating a paradox in the canon. BW basically reset all of Ash's (and Pikachu's?) experience too, making him a novice that didn't even know how to catch Pokemon or about type efficiency (and pikachu lost to an untrained starter)...

Hopefully Pokémon Horizons shows us a cameo of Ash that’s actually aged. Since they already technically did so with Red, Blue, and Leaf in SM.

The Marril tail glow bit is actually a translation issue. The move's name in Japanese is "Firefly Light". This is why the Charmander line can't also learn it, despite having a source of light in their tails

He could still have two arms, but probably prefers to use only the one that’s in good condition. It doesn’t have to mean his whole arm is gone. Plus it could denote how prideful he is, with the mentality of “I only need one hand to take you down.”

Your name in Japanese is actually Dobusu! :3 Japanese is phonetic and lacks pretty much all stand alone consonants. The the "U" in the "Bu" would most likely be silent, but the "U" in "Su" would still likely be vocalised by most. 🤔 In Katakana it would be written as ドブス. Just don't look up what Dobusu is used as slang for in Japan. 😅

In case you are wondering about the gen 1 starters being in opposite order? It is because the Japanese read from right to left. So for them it is in the normal order.

What happens when you let a houndoom hold a sitrus berry before the battle and let it use crunch in the battle. How would the houndoom perform the move without eating the berry, as it is a dog who holds the berry with its mouth but in order to bite, it also uses its mouth. That kinda reminds me of how Zacian would be able to use crunch while there is already a sword in it's mouth!

7:02. this onces happened to my by accident i was backtracking in victory road (probably to heal my team) and then i ran into a hoard of geodude, so i killed them for fun with my lapras with surf, and then i got a damp stone i was so confused about that (i had heard about this mechanic before that experience, but that it happened so out of nowhere) it was also the same playthrough i found a random shiny full odds inkay

Ash's mom seems to have aged along with every side character in the anime series. Each season after ash saw the Ho oh, he remained young and everyone else seemed to be slowly getting older than him. In sun and moon when they showed Misty and Brock they too looked older.

Here’s an obscure fact the Pokémon Combee can use psybeam in the anime despite it not being able to learn it naturally or even with move tutors it’s just unable to learn it but the anime seem to not care about that
