I thought yard grass was safe! I saw many people feeding rabbits that. Also my vet said that rabbits can eat mashed potato (without other things) and my rabbit once grabbed the banana peel from the banana I was eating and ran away with it. Before then, I didn't know that rabbits could not eat it but thank goodness he survived from it! Also I've seen my friend give her rabbit bread :(

Hi Haley! Could you do a video on the complete journey of clicker training, starting from the age where rabbits can begin to eat non - dried fruit as treats? My bunny is not all that happy with her dried apple treats (she's two months and 3 weeks 😍) so I'm hoping that will change as I introduce her to real fruit. Any way, could you give us steps, maybe? Like, how to introduce treats, how to introduce clicker, etc. Also could you do diy cage inhancers for smaller enclosures? My bun can't free range just yet because she's so tiny but for the time when she's in her cage (i.e. at night) I'd like for her to have puzzels and ramps and stuff. Any suggestions? ALSO (sorry to keep rambling) could you maybe make a video about introducing cats and bunnies? Sorry if you've already made some of these vids and I wasted your time🤦🏼‍♀️I tried to check for them all💜 Anyway I love you and your animal family and your content very much and my bun LOVES your seagrass mats😂💜💜 We love you!!!

I think oats is okay, i always sprinkle a littbit of oats on my rabbits pellets. Because they are high in fiber and the bunnys loves them. The are also a great treat because the are so small. In sweden many rabbit owners like to sprinkle a littlebit of oats on the pellets especally im the winter when its cold. It gives the rabbits more energy. One of my rabbits is 11 years old and he gets oats on his pellets and he is totally fine. He is actually in reallt good shape for being that old.

When my back was turned for about 2 mins, my bunny Sampras managed to open my handbag and unwrap and eat an entire chocolate brownie. I was in tears down the phone to the emergency vet whilst Sampras binkied around the room like "hey mama, what's up?" Anyways, she ended up getting wind for about 2 hours then was fine. She didn't even realise anything was wrong. A very resilient little girl. Hate to think what could have been.

On the topic of seeds: If the hay contains few seeds and ears/heads, rabbits need additional fats and proteins. A lack of fatty acids can be seen in shaggy coat, dry skin, lip scab and frequent clogging. To add essential fatty acids such as omega-6 fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids, you should occasionally offer sunflower seeds and/or a seed mixture. About 4 sunflower seeds (without shell) per kg of rabbit per week are sufficient to prevent a deficiency. In fresh and dried grassy ears there are usually enough omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. One teaspoon of grass seeds or small seeds per week are useful in case of poor hay quality or in case of a change of coat. The following seeds are suitable for rabbits: grass seeds (comb grass, cane fescue, kneeling grass, rye grass), linseed, chia seeds, fennel seeds, millet, amaranth, dandelion, fenugreek seeds. Fat food is an important part of any rabbit diet and should not be forgotten, especially when feeding without dehydrated food! Of course only in very small amounts and tailored to your rabbits‘s activity and husbandry. In the Winter month, when the hay may not have that much quality and you can’t collect fresh (field)grass and meadow, then I complement/supplement the diet with seeds.

Where are you getting your information for each of these listed foods? Have you taken an animal nutrition, biochemistry, or physiology course before? Do you know why each of these foods are not safe? Or do you just know that there is "something in them that makes it toxic so yeah don't give it to them". Do you know the digestive anatomy and physiology of a rabbit? Just wondering. Citing your sources would make this video much more credible.

I love her but she says corn husks are not safe cause they're stringy or something like that and that bunnies can not chew them up properly... they're softer that some hays, vets even recommend you to feed them to your bunny in case you run out of hay while you restock your supply, there super rich in fiber and help their teeth
@catmommippy2403
@catmommippy2403 2 жыл бұрын
yeah corn husks are perfectly safe for rabbits and guinea pigs, how are they gunna choke on corn husks but not timothy hay. also corn husks are a grass and i fed corn husks to my guinea pigs a ton when they are in season, they never had a single issue. I know guinea pigs and rabbits are different, but their teeth and digestive systems work very much the same way. I disagree on this one issue, but do enjoy her content a lot still.

Urban legends: So there's a urban legend called "Black Rose" Here's how it goes: (my version) There were 3 sisters. Veronica, Alice and Clara. One day Veronica went to a flower shop. She went inside ask the florist: "is there 5 white roses?" the florist said: "oh sorry there's only 4 white ones. Can a black one do?" Veronica said yes took it home, put it in a vase then sleep. In the morning she was found dead with her body full of stabs. Next week Alice went to the same flower shop. She asked the florist: "can i have 6 red roses?" the florist said: "oh sorry there is only 4 red roses. Can a black one do?" Alice said sure. went home, put it in a vase and went to sleep, in the morning she was found dead full of stabs. the youngest sister was sure that the black rose has something to do with the deaths of her deceased sisters. She went to the flower shop and she asked the florist: "can I have 3 white roses?" the florist said: " oh sorry we have 2 white ones, can a black one do?" she said yes. She went home got an axe and put the rose in a vase. She stayed awake holding the axe. And exactly 3:00AM a arm with a knife came out of the rose. Clara was terrified. But that didn't stop her. she got the axe, stood up and chopped the arm. The black rose disappeared. the next day she went to the flower shop and she saw the florist who had her arm chopped off. Fin. *I was bored ok?*

Hey Haley, can you please talk about the importance of spaying female rabbits, I adopted my 5 year old bun from a family friend a few weeks ago, I took her for first ever vet visit this week and found out she had uterine cancer. The vet informed me that 50-80% of female rabbits over 2 years of age will develop this kind of cancer if they’re not spayed. I feel like this information needs to be spoken about more frequently.

Thank you for tip about no banana peels! I would cut the tip off my banana to share with my bunnies in the morning and never thought of pesticides! My kids and I have learned so much from you. Our bunnies have a much better life because of your passion for educating the rabbit community. Keep up the great work!

Here's the summary; 1.Corn and corn husks, 2.Legumes (inc. beans, leas, peanuts), 3.Chocolate, 4.Dairy (inc. cheese, milk, yoghurt), 5.Grains (inc. rice, cous-cous, cereal, pasta, bread) (oat grass is okay), 6.Avocado, 7.Nuts, 8. Potatoes 9. Meat 10. Eggs 11. Ice burg lettuce (mainly water no nutritional value) 12. Apple seeds (only the seeds as they contain cyanide) 13. Onions 14. Grass from your garden (unless you know that no one in your area is using pesticides.) 15. Banana peel 16. Acorns (oak is poisonous to bunny's) 17. Seeds (inc. sunflower seeds) 18. Other animals pet food (do not give them food that's not for rabbits!) 19. Processed treats from pet shop (only use dried fruit as a treat) 20. Hey :D I just realised that you are litterally raw feeding your rabbits. That makes you my new favorite rabbit-guru. I'm housing two rabbits for a friend and I must say, that I knew enough to keep them alive, but now I know how to keep them very well too ;). Cats are strickt carnivorus (pardon my spelling, I'm Danish) - completely opposite rabbits, who are strickt herbivorus. I did not know about grains and nuts being so bad, but again: my cats are raw-fed - due to my wish to avoid processed food, substances not sutable for cat - diets. Why would it be any different to my little long-eared friends? Thank you for sharing your wisdom :)

Wow! Thank you! I think my bunny is just smart and knows what he shouldn’t eat. A long time ago, I got him a treat that had basically bird seed in the middle. He took it and spit it into his water dish and I never got him anything with bird seed stuff again! Also, I had gotten him yogurt bites, and he took the open bag and tossed it 🤣 But thank you for this video! It just confirms why he didn’t want those!

Any opinions if it ok to give rabbits Timothy Hay that is marketed for horses??? It just easier to buy in bulk much cheaper too and I already have to buy it for my own horses so I was wondering if I could also give it to my bunnies.

About the oak and acorn leaves, this is most likely a US thing after checking why it should not be fed: the US oak is high in cyanide (similar to almonds, tomatoes, apple seeds and pumpkin/watermelon seeds), but cyanide evaporates at around 20deg celsius, in central Europe with its 40+ degree hot summers it is fine to feed oak leaves, because for one the European oaks have very little cyanide to begin with and the poison just leaves the leaves, but people should be warry with feeding acorn leaves in spring during the colder temperatures and under no circumstance ever feed any acorns or oak branches (but while in the US it would kill the rabbit, in Europe you would have a rabbit leaving soft poop everywhere). But if this video were about Europe, the list would look a lot different, a lot of trees and plants here are almost instantly deadly to rabbits but European domestic breeds tend to ignore or even be repulsed by those. If someone in the future reads my comment, owns an US breed and is located in Europe, be extra warry, the list does not include European plants and you should do a lot of research about everything you feed

If you have a free roaming rabbit, it can be hard to keep them away from some of these foods sometimes, especially if accidentally dropped, or cat/dog food, or something they might chew into. If your kids accidentally drop cereal or corn chips, most likely your bunny will find these at one point or another, and indulge. A little bit will not harm them, just keep them away from huge amounts, and from the big ones like chocolate, onions, avocado, etc. if your bunny starts having diarrhea or gas, they probably ate something they shouldn’t have. Try as much as you can to keep them on what they should be eating, add more leafy greens and hay, and cut back on the sweeter treats and they should be better soon.

It's sad that some of the things I found about bunnies on line show carrots. The "gourmet food" has dried peas in it. The drops have yogurt and she loves them. Also the other treat is dried sweet potato and she loves that! Eek! She also gets her food mix( pellets mix), Timothy grass and romaine leaves. I've also tried banana and she likes it. I agree that I'm going to rethink the food mix. I am a new bunny mama. I rescued this poor thing. It was dumped where I work by the dumpster, a week later she had 3 babies 2 of which did not make it. The last is nice and healthy. Thank you for this information. You think what you find at the store in the bunny section should be good for them, but 🤔maybe not. Still learning. Loving my bunnies unconditionally. Not really what I needed, but can't stand to see a defenseless animal suffer because someone didn't want to be responsible 😔. Will be reading ingredients from now on!🐰

One you missed but kinda hinted at... Celery! The leafy top is ok, I think, but the fibrous stalks have fibers that their teeth wont always cut. Its also ok to give an adult rabbit old fashion oatmeal.. maybe a tablespoon to 1/4 cup a day...mine really likes his oatmeal. Also splurge and treat yourself to organic carrots and give your rabbits the tops, they REALLY like the tops and the part where the top meets the carrot. Good video!

Actually if you go on major rabbit welfare websites or some vets the black sunflower seeds are very healthy especially in moulting time. Only like 6 piece because they are fattening but essential minerals and vitamins in it helps in the moulting season.
