It's not effortless. The effort is written all over her face - that's part of the performance. I really like to see a performer exerting themselves to deliver the vocals because it shows that they care about getting it right. It's something I like about Pink. I prefer that type of performance to someone who looks serene and delivers pitch perfect performances with little to no emotion on their face. It's an honest performance.

My husband was a huge Pink fan as am I. We have a couple of her concerts on bluray and watched them a lot. We were wanting to see her in concert next time she came through Chicago. We ADORE her voice. He passed away early in 2017. A year later I took the bluray concert where she sang this acoustic to a friend's house. I hadn't watched since before my husband died and my friend was just starting to get into Pink. I was fine until we got to this song. I had heard the song at least a hundred times before. But this time hearing it acoustic and just a year after Jeff passed, it broke me. Completely. I was sobbing the entire song. The lyrics, sung by our favorite singer, rang so true this time. My friend just held me while I cried out the pain. I can listen to it now and smile again, if a little sad. But no other song brings the memories of my husband like this one does.

Lyrics: You took my hand, you showed me how You promised me you'd be around Uh-huh, that's right I took your words, and I believed In everything you said to me Yeah, huh, that's right If someone said three years from now You'd be long gone I'd stand up and punch them out 'Cause they're all wrong I know better 'cause you said forever, and ever Who knew? Remember when we were such fools And so convinced and just too cool Oh no, no, no I wish I could touch you again I wish I could still call you a friend I'd give anything When someone said count your blessings now 'Fore they're long gone I guess I just didn't know how I was all wrong But they knew better, still you said forever, and ever Who knew? (Yeah, yeah) I'll keep you locked in my head (my head) Until we meet again (meet again) Until we, until we meet again And I won't forget you, my friend What happened? If someone said three years from now You'd be long gone I'd stand up and punch them out 'Cause they're all wrong and That last kiss, I'll cherish until we meet again And time makes it harder, I wish I could remember But I keep your memory, you visit me in my sleep My darling, who knew? My darling, my darling, who knew? My darling, I miss you My darling, who knew? Who knew?

I love this song. I honestly believe it's one of the best songs written in the last 30+ years. Pink does a great job in this acoustic version; it's not an easy song to sing. It's so beautiful and moving. I heard that it's supposed to be about her dog. I don't know about that, but being a dog person that just makes the song even more moving. Thanks for posting this great video.

I always thought of my ex when I heard this song. She wrote it about a friend/ex who died from heroin overdose. I broke up with my ex because I found out he was abusing heroin. I tried so hard to help him but I had to walk away. I didn't want to find him dead one day, I knew eventually that would happen. I just found out he died yesterday. It took 7 years, not three like the song but it still hurt to hear. I'm happily married now but he was the last serious boyfriend I had before I met my husband. We lived together for four years, that meant something. I'm afraid to talk with my husband about it because I don't want him to think I was still in love with my ex. I didn't love him anymore, not for a long time. He was a significant part of my life for awhile and we went through some shit together. I'm trying to push it down and forget about it, I guess I just needed to write my thoughts to strangers as some short of catharticism.
