Nice to see it back in good order again. For the BNC connectors and front panel simply use some automotive silicone spray on a cloth, and wipe them over. Will keep them shiny and tarnish free for a long time.

how exciting to see it come to life, and functioning reasonably well too! :)

I have two of these. I had to replace switches in one. The oven oscillators in these are very stable. Tracking the gpsdo, mine track within .009 hz in 10 digits.

The back black filter cap looks like it has a domed top maybe.

I poked it with my finger and was just the plastic piece floating above the cap. I think it is still ok

One can never have too many pieces of test equipment! Good job bringing the counter back to life!

Hmmmm.... just talked to a guy who is trying to get rid of the last two storage units. A friend of his got ill and had 11, yes eleven, storage units full of test equipment. That might be too much. He sent me a list of 50 items and sadly none were of interest to me considering it would be a full day to drive there and back. Most were really junk. He had an HP182T scope that is the mainframe for the old analog spectrum analyzer plug in I have. I wish I knew what was in the first 9 units now.

@@IMSAIGuy Well, truth be told you're better off not knowing. Friend here and I got a boatload of old HP, Systron Donner, Tek stuff etc. etc. from the local estate sale place (local test gear hoarder moved into a retirement place). Problem was it was mostly too old and I finally hired a guy to cart off most of it to the dump. Having said that I did get some nice small pieces that are keepers.

Inspiring. For my next project I might replace the vanilla crystal oscillator in a Philips/Fluke 120MHz counter with a nicer OCXO.

If you want ten digit resolution you can press and hold the up button to cause the unit to overflow the first digit.

Yes you are right. I was hoping to see all 10.
@karlfell37682 жыл бұрын
@@IMSAIGuy you need the 1998 model for true 10 digit resolution.

Where did you order the switches? I have several 1992's in my shack and would like to have some spares on the shelf as this seems to be a common problem with this unit.

eBay, you want the 6x6x10mm version.

The correct parts are SKEGACA010 ...they fit perfectly & their "t" top fits the plastic caps without gouging them up. The price has gone up since they were discontinued 4/2019 paid $29 for 100, 4/2021 paid $29 for 100.
