Who's been watching Clarence on Cartoon Network?? What should we do next?! 😁

Clarence, as I see it, is really a slice-of-life, down-to-earth show that focuses on the surreal awe of childhood. The characters and settings are odd, but they aren't far removed from reality (e.g. Clarence lives with his mom and her boyfriend, Sumo lives in a trailer with dozens of siblings, and Jeff lives with two moms), and the way that some characters act are eerily believable (like how Belson's father is often away on business trips, his mother doesn't keep a close eye on him, and how he tries to act superior and flaunt his wealth in an attempt to make friends). Some of the episode plots are completely ridiculous and wacky (like the episode with that creepy doll that Clarence had), while others have a familiar and almost nostalgic progression to them (like the episode where Clarence and his friends try to have fun at an arcade even though they don't have money). I especially enjoy some of the nudges to the flaws of adults and systems (I notice how Clarence's teacher tries to teach her kids while putting up with her social life and education standards of the school). Clarence is supposed to be imperfect and odd; it captures the grimy nature of childhood and the world. I think this is a major turn off for some people who want cartoons to present a wonderful fictitious world to escape to, even if they don't realize it. Some people might be turned off because they don't remember/don't relate to/don't want to remember/don't understand how gross and odd childhood really is. This cartoon is an art that reflects reality and the creators themselves, but it's very different from what is expected of a "kid's cartoon". I'll stop myself before I go on and on, but I think people misunderstand why Clarence is more than a dumb show about a dumb kid who talks funny.

I love Clarence so much. Nowadays it airs from 4AM to 6AM and I stay up to watch it every single day. I can never get tired from watching whatever episode or season it is.

In season 1 episode 27, Clarence and sumo release cockroaches into people’s homes and then later their police sketches are shown on TV. Sumo is shown as Popeye and Clarence is shown as a character from the Simpsons

The portrayal of friendship in Clarence is very enjoyable and wholesome. Especially the trio! I sometimes tear up because I find their friendship adorable and nostalgic

One of the things I love about Clarence is that the things that happen to Clarence and his buddies are pretty realistic and could happen in the neighborhood of you, the person reading this. I know from experience. I’m a pretty outside-ish guy. While Clarence is realistic, it is also sort of surreal to better entertain the audience and I love that.

Clarence is such an underrated gem.

I'm 29 and I love this show! my son and I really loved Clarence!

When I first saw this show I didn't really expect much out of it, it just looked similar to Uncle Grandpa to me with the linework and shading, and that show isn't very good imo. But when I watched it I was like, wow this is actually amazing. And I felt pretty ashamed to judge it before watching it, it's actually a good slice-of-life kind of show, and I can relate to the child dilemmas when I was that age.

Clarence is a great show the characters are very relatable, feels raw and a breath of fresh air. Watching it makes me wish I was a kid again. Most of all I love clarences mom Mary the most. And her episode when she took a karate class and Clarence wasn’t interested in it, he saw the photo album of Mary since she was a kid to the mom she is now, and how young at heart she is. It was a very beautiful episode.
