I have a few on those euro cutaways I think they are pretty good for learning I always get pins stuck so they are a good visual aid to find out why it’s stuck stiff Love the mortice lock practice cover

One thing to make sure about clear/perplex covers for lever locks is to make sure they are strong and sturdy enough. If they flex at all the lever pack can get loose and it all goes to 💩

Cutaway metal one are often better. A lot even come already with pre-cut slots so you can see the bolt and levers move, that's why we cover up those bits to make it more difficult to pick! 😀

"Heeeey, Saaaaaandman..... the best teaching tool is one of those 3D printed single pin demonstration locks." .... although I do agree those clear acrylic locks are great for demonstrating and the newbie always gets a buzz when they first pop one! 😀

"Mortice" locks are set within the door, as in inbedded within the actual door in a cutaway from the siee (not as in the same term as you are referring to) where as "Rim Cylinders" are mounted/bolted to the inside of the door and not inside, catch my drift? IMHO Metal cutaway practice locks are far better than those clear acrylic ones, which are perfect for just demonstrating to newbies, as they give a bit more realistic feedback. That's for another great video, keep up the Stirling work. 💜

😂😅😂😅love the troll 😂😅😂😅The lever lock is definitely what we call a motrice lever lock buddy, there are two types, curtained (or piped) and non curtained. Unlike the cutaway euros the clear cover is useful as a teaching/learning lock as its facing yiu, although the plasric does change the "feel" comoared to the matal face plate.Alan is a top top bloke, hes always looked after me with excellent customer service and delivery speed. Always my first go to when I'm looking for something . I have to say cutaways are pretty usefull for teating hime made pins when making challenge locks🤜🤛👍

To be honest, most of us really use cutaway locks as decor and bling. 😁

For the longest time I thought cutaways were as good as real locks for picking, I couldn't have been more wrong

I've never tried one, how are they different for picking?

@joedhoe As quite a lot of the driver/key pins aren't actually touching/rubbing/binding agai st the sides of a chamber it isn't 100% realistic, certainly better than a plastic one though by miles.

For a practice lock I would recommend a standard repinnable one instead. Start off with 2 or 3 pins then work up from there. It's the closest practice lock you'd get to a real one, by the time you've pinned it up to 5 and 6 chambers that's basically a real normal lock.

I’ve used U.K. Lockpickers since last year always get my deliveries super fast, I’ve seen you made some posts on the FB group I’m also part of Super cool cutaways btw but like you I prefer to practice on real locks

Would be very interested to hear more about the practice lock at the top of the screen and what makes one side more difficult than the other, and potentially how it compares to other re-pinnable practice locks.

There is nothing to compare, it just has one more pin, it has better tolerances because it’s not a cut away. So it feels like a real lock.

Found your channel after getting into the hobby recently. Your channel reminds me of NutnFancy, but for lock picking.

yes those of us in the uk do call them lever locks
@jeanpaulworrall8521
@jeanpaulworrall8521 5 ай бұрын
they can also be known as mortice deadlocks
@TequilaDave
@TequilaDave 5 ай бұрын
Deadbolts tend to be not like slip latches. A Chubb lever lock would be classed more as a "dead" bolt (ie it doesn't have springs and needs a key to open and close) whereas their "Yale like" pin tumbler locks (often used in conjunction with a deadbolt in UK front doors) isn't considered "dead" as it still operates/locks one way wothout even needing a key. Sorry, not trying to troll etc, just educate from what I have learned over the years. Please feel free to correct me anyone if I am wrong.
