I just recently saw a Ronin 10mm for the 1st time at the local Gun Shop, priced sub $900 if I remember correctly. Definitely on my wish list. Unfortunately, I dipped into my fun-money Friday and bought a used Canik MC9. Yeah, Yeah, it's a 9 Turkey, could NOT pass up that deal. "Wish in one hand ..." LOL! I can remember my Grandma saying that. Can't wait for the rematch. It may just turn into a Rocky movie franchise Shootout. I can see it now ... "Ronin/Kimber VI - You Bet Your Brass" now playing on KZfaq. 🥊🥊. As always, 👍👍 Brad.

Kimber's 1911 custom II are excellent pistols. I have a two tone 45acp that I have fully completely overhauled. It's a joy to shoot and extremely accurate. My Custom II 10mm is also a great shooter. It will get the same treatment. I shot a Ronin and it had to go back to Springfield to be repaired and was traded off after I got it back. FWIW, I traded it for my Kimber 10mm. BTW, your groups aren't equal. Your Kimber is the clear winner. You had several doubles and you didn't have with the Springfield. You can hope that the Springfield will settle in, but I wouldn't bet on it.

100% agree with you, stay tuned for the next video in the series on this there will be pictures of a couple of issues with that Springfield that I take exception with because I’ve been a long time Springfield fan I love my Kimber, but it don’t love federal crap Ammo lol

@bradbranch6462 I tried to like my Ronin, but I couldn't.I had planned on giving it the full custom treatment that I did on my 45acp Kimber, but after so many issues with it, I had enough. Many of my friends think I should have just spent the extra money and buy a Dan Wesson, but I have had 2 of them and had issues with both. I figured I might as well upgrade an excellent pistol and plan on keeping it. Order some of Atom C 180grain bonded. My Kimber II loves it and it's got some kick to it.

I have owned 3 10mm 1911s including the Ronin. The others are a Sig and a Dan Wesson Specialist. I sold the Ronin despite it having the best trigger. (Opinions will vary). But when it came to shooting real 10mm with some heat, the Sig really shined. The Ronin would hiccup. the slide stop lever was a constant challenge. And the smooth, very thin grips are attractive but not conducive to a 10mm. You don’t need sand paper but some more girth really helps. So a very good gun with some issues on the perimeter to deal with. Sig still running and the DW still breaking in.

That ammo is such a lie/scam. Federa 10mm is great for 2 things. 1.) Tricking your friends into believing that you are shooting 10mm 🤣 2. Collecting the nearly perfect brass for reloading. It will show no pressure signs!😂😂😂 *Bonus, most of it is small pistol primed so it's good to have for times when LPP are scarce ( now). Thanks for the video Brad! I just saw a 10mm Ronin yesterday at the LGS.... price was right too. But I made another 1911 investment today😉👍👊 stand by......

Yeah us "Gun addicts" gotta exercise more self control! lol I put parts for a new upper I'm building in lay-a-way yesterday morning and then spotted that ronin that afternoon, just blew my one month coin from pew pew anonymous!! I bought that ammo during the shortage a couple years back and only bought two boxes, been in closet all this time and never shot any of it. Now it's all gone and I can use the cases to make something that will properly drive a 1911 with a heavy spring!! lol

I like the fact that Springfield is hammer-forged vs. the Kimber being a cast. Hammer-forged is scientifically stronger and more durable than a stamped/cast firearm. More tinsel strength.

@@The2ndFreedom Exactly which parts are we speaking of being “cast”? Kimber does use injecting casting for small items like thumb safety levers and slide catch, maybe the barrel bushing. But the receivers are CNC machined forgings, at least they were when this qoute from the february 2017 American Rifleman article appeared; “Frames for the Micro 9s and other Kimber M1911-style pistols are CNC-machined from steel or aluminum forgings.” I’m pretty certain the barrels and slides are not “casts” as well.

Federal was one of the worst performers of all the 10mm range ammo I tested. It’s very close being bad 40 S&W 😂

Yep. Federal 180 FMJ with an advertised (on the box) AMV of just 1030, which means it's prolly running 950 truth be told. That's why I'm giving them a rematch with my handloads. They're loaded up proper for 10mm weight springs!!

@@bradbranch6462 I bought a whole bunch early on in my 10mm. I find it cycles in my guns fine it’s just weak so if you are springed for real 10mm, I could see it causing problems with 1911 guns.

Nice video Brad , got a question for you 44cal bullet out of a AR-10 with a 308 win casing as the starting point using an unnecked down 308 trimmed to the same length as a 308 but pushing a 44cal bullet out of the case mouth , what do you think of this possibility?
@bradbranch6462
@bradbranch6462 7 ай бұрын
It might sound inviting to think of it. But I think it would be hard pressed to compete with 450 bushmaster or even 458 socom. The 450 bushmaster will provide similar and comparable velocities as a 444 marlin with 10-12 grains less powder, and does so out of an AR-15 sized platform. The length of the 308 case being minimum 2.015 would certainly require M5 geometry with most likely an even heavier BCG and barrel extension which would become a very heavy proposition to be lugging around compared to the somewhat lighter 450 platform. Not to mention that semi-auto rifles running straight walled cases will require the headspacing to occur on the case mouth or with the addition of a belt at the rear of the case much the same as a belted magnum bolt cartridge.

I owned the Kimber custom 2 for about a month. What a piece of crap! Never functioned properly. Kimber kept saying it wasn’t broken in. Shot 1000 rounds through it and still didn’t work. I was devastated. I loved the look of this gun with the Kimber name. Sent it back twice, changed magazines, every ammo I could find, cleaned, polished the feed ramp, etc. GONE! Never buy a new Kimber. The old ones are great, new ones are junk

I like your video but to be fair the Ronin needs to be broke in. I have found that the springfield is better than the kimber. I have that same Ronin in 10mm took around 500 rounds to break her in. I have owned many 1911s

Thanks for liking the vid, glad you enjoyed it. And I myself have owned dozens of 1911s over the last 45+ years, but I found out a long time ago. There’s a much easier way to wear the slide rails in on a government model than burning up $400 worth of ammo. Every time I bring a new government model home, I pull the slide, go through it. Make sure there’s no grit or trash in it, break out my jewelers rouge coat the rails put it back together springs and all and I sit around for half a day jacking that bastard off just operating the slide under tension all the way back and let her come forward a minimum of 750 times, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than burning ammunition just to “break a pistol in” and it has served me well for decades. I have been a springfield fan forever, but this one (IMHO), just doesn’t all around out perform my kimber. And it had some fitment issues that did not help it any in the decision process, I honestly wish it hadn’t, cause those were the deal breakers for the pistol, and i do like my springfields, at least the ones made prior to 2010👍🤠👍

Both issues are very valid points. And that’s why I sold the Ronin and kept the Kimber. I’ve had great Springfields, the range master,, the loaded operators, this is the first Springfield I ever owned that just was not up to par. I’ve owned a half a dozen Kimbers and I’ve taken home more trophies with my Kimber 38 super than I have any other weapon. I’ve had experience with bad Kimbers that had to be sent back to the factory more than once. But on that issue I’ve had Colt gold cup series 70s that were absolute shit. My ultra CDP Kimber 45, never an issue my 38 super target stainless never an issue my 10 mil, great gun, I had a DW that I absolutely hated and I’m with you, I prefer a series 70 slide there’s no doubt, but I’ve learned to work with the series 80 and become accustomed to tuning it just like I did every other government model I’ve owned or fired since the late 70s. And I have personally witnessed $5000 government models that didn’t shoot worth a shit or didn’t work right, (Nighthawk custom of The turkey’s opinion channel), so all that said, I guess the take away would be no matter who’s making the weapon there’s always always gonna be a possibility of having to do something to it but once they’re tuned and running right shit man, you can’t hardly beat a government model. Thanks for the input!
